My great grandfather was a local councillor for east Wemyss. He fought in the First World War as a 15/16 year old was tracked down and told to come home from the war but he refused and seen the remainder of the war out at a RAMC stretcher barer. After Injury in the late 20’s down the pits he was no longer able to work as a miner and became a well known councillor. Rolland ave in Macduff was in fact named after him.
