    • @mschanee
      @mschanee 2 года назад +2

      Be sure that you bring Marshy's rabies shot record to the Petsmart Grooming and begin a schedule of grooming early as this desensitized pup early. Nothing is worse that trying to cut a pup's nails that's terrified simply because they've always been bathed at home. Plus your pup has hair, not fur, so every 6-8 weeks she will need a groom.

    She is adorable. Training the pup is like training a baby, you have to get up at intervals the same time to let her use the bathroom in the day and throughout the night, feed around the same time and then you should be able to time when she normally uses the batheroo. Get her on a schedule. Such a cutie! So exciting!!!

    She is adorable.
    The key to potty training is Take her out side as soon as she she wakes up, after she eats, maybe every hour or hour and a half, and before bed. Also you will need to get up in the night to let her out. You have to remember she is a baby just like a human baby so it will take time. When you see her doing a lot of sniffing, that means she is looking for a place to potty.

      I had 2 Bichons.They are incredibly smart dogs but they can be hard to train. I agree with Linzy’s Lounge. It is helpful to take them outside as soon as she wakes up, eats, and I took mine out every hour or every hour and a half when they got older. But- when they where training took them out every thirty minutes. Also, I placed the pads near the door and whenever I saw them head there, I took them out. I love Bichons. They are so sweet and they love people. Each of mine lived 15 years.

    I feed my dogs meals in their crate everyday. They associate the crate with positivity and meal time. No mess bc they don’t want to poop where they eat. You should be able to add the soft bed back once she’s potty trained. I have no issues with either of my dogs peeing in the crate or chewing up their pad. My dog trainer taught me not to use pee pads at all, but give them A LOT of trips outside to potty, and bring treats to praise anytime they go where they should. They may become dependent on the pad otherwise.
    Avoiding softer chew toys also helps. If she has plush toys, only use them while actively playing with her - don’t leave her alone with them. That’s how dogs learn to eat/rip up their pads, your socks, etc.
    Good job not giving into the whining! You’ll learn her signals for potty vs just crying for attention. You got this! The first few months are the hardest. It’ll be worth it to train hard in this period so you dont need to correct things later.

    Omg she’s adorable! Potty training is rough. My vet told me that their bladders aren’t strong enough to hold it in for longer than an hour when they are a couple month old. As they get older they gain the muscles to hold it for longer but until then you have to take them out every 1-2 hours. My puppy is now 8 months and I’m so glad potty training is behind us. Just remember the puppy kisses are worth it!

    • @lashanntriggs8687

    Congratulations!!! 🐶 Marshmallow is such an adorable name. 💕 I was a new dog mom when I got my little Luna 4 years ago. I got her when she was 6 weeks old. Here are some things that I learned along the way.
    1. One of the best things that I did was to start crate training her on the very 1st day that I brought her home.
    2. Get her on a schedule for eating, potty breaks, playtime, and sleeping asap. I'm a teacher too, so this helped me so much! Give yourself some extra time with her in the mornings!
    3. Find a really good veterinarian and stay on top of her checkups, shots, etc. Don't forget to put her on heartworm and flea prevention when the vet says she can start on them.
    4. Puppies can pick up Parvo very easily. So, don't take her around other dogs until she's fully vaccinated. Be careful where you let her walk around outside and in public places. Be sure to clean off her paws with puppy wipes when you bring her back inside.
    5. Feed her quality dog food and treats.
    6. When you're off from school for a long holiday break, try to keep her on her schedule as much as possible. This will help with separation anxiety when you have to go back to school. As she gets older, you can adjust this.
    7. Put one of your tshirts that you've worn in the kennel with her so she can be comforted by your scent while you're at work in the beginning.
    8. Give her lots and lots of praise! And be patient!
    9. Be careful with the types of toys you buy and watch her while she's playing with them. Learn her "play style" so that you'll know what types of toys she likes. Just like kids, they get bored with their toys too. So, be sure to switch them up from time to time. The more you make sure she's entertained with her toys, the less interested she'll be in chewing up or destroying your things!
    10. Enjoy the journey! They grow so fast. You'll truly love the bond that you'll develop with Marshmallow! Don't forget to take lots of pictures. 💕

  • @atiyamonet
    @atiyamonet 2 года назад +42

    She is adorable 😍 When I tell you I was like “oh no” when you said you were letting her sleep in the crate without potty breaks 😅 these little dogs have the tiniest bladders. You should get her outside at least once in the middle of the night and as soon as the sun rises. Also don’t let her potty on pads in house, it only encourages her to associate home with potty and it’ll be harder to housebreak. It’s rough and your sleep will be broken but so worth the effort 💖

    Hey girl! One thing I wish someone told me when training on the pads...don’t get them hooked completely on the pads. I would definitely encourage you to take her outside every two hours. Still leave the pads out, but, don’t substitute the pads being out for skipping the outside piece. It was a little frustrating having trained my puppy to use the pads and then later trying to teach him to go outside instead of the pads after a certain age. Just sharing what I wish I knew as a pad trainer LOL

    Fluffy/cotton things in the crate makes them more likely to use it in the crate. Dogs hate to sit in their own pee/poo so if you leave the floor bear she will be less likely to let it happen again. Also crate train in 15 minutes sessions so she doesn’t associate the crate with being alone for hours. Use treats to make the crate a safe spot. Never punish a dog by putting them in the crate. Then they wouldn’t like the crate. Good luck!!

      Great tips! I’ve been a dog mom for many years and just love it! If i could add to the previous tips , make sure to take her out to potty before placing her in the crate for the night. You will learn her potty habits very soon!! During my pups first few months home I made the sacrifice and took her out to potty a few hours after i placed her in the crate for the night. If taking her outside at night is not an option sometimes you can put down a puppy pad near the back door. Consistency, patience and praising Marshmallow will yield the results you want when it comes to potty training. You will make a wonderful dog mom! Your already a wonderful person and teacher 🌺

Please consult a vet or veterinary professional and stick to food brands that have veterinarians employed as researchers. Their whole job is to make sure the food is safe and nutritionally balanced. When she gets up, he races to take her spot and she races so that he doesn't get in it, and he rolls around kicking her and smiling. Just a word of wisdom as she grows, get her doggy stairs for the bed and couch. Bichons tend to deal with Intervertebral Disk Disease and so start taking it easy on their back and neck early to prolong their health later. And lastly, Bichons are verrryyyyyy stubborn. Mischeivous! Very hard to train. And that's what makes them special and their own kind. I wouldn't trade mine for anything. Happy momming!

    She’s so cute! Don’t forget a leash and harness for walks and to hook her up in her car seat. Don’t connect her by the collar for obvious reasons if you were in an accident. Fun times ahead!

    She is so flipping adorable. I absolutely love puppies. I was cringing when you put that bed in her kennel because I knew she was going to poop and pee on it. She only needed a pad and a blanket in there but you quickly learned that 😂🤣😭😭😂😭

    Hey hey!! As a new dog mom myself, I got my baby after his first few weeks. He’s now two years old 😍. Puppy tips: they sleep a lot so you don’t have to worry about waking her up ☺️, no beds in the crate until she’s potty trained, line the crate with puppy pads instead, normalize the pads first then give treat when they are used, dogs willl always prefer wet food but to get her used to pellets, mix them together for a few days and ween her off. she will like them after I promise lol then you can use wet food as a real treat. It sounds like you’re doing really good with crate training so that’s really good! Don’t overwhelm with treats though btw!! But it sounds like you are doing great!! Super happy for this new journey for you!!!!!

    When you finish designing your laundry room make sure you add a utility sink in there. That will help you so much with the care of your dog, her toys and bedding and such. Because you don't want to cross contaminate cleaning her mess up in your sinks and tub. Plus it comes in handy when you want to wash out clothing, clean the mop and so on and so forth.

    I got a puppy in August so I know the struggle!! He was 8 weeks when we got him.. I would avoid putting a big fluffy bed in the crate all together and just use cheap towels if you can, because of them chewing the beds up or using the bathroom when they are that young. Another thing to avoid doing is letting them sleep a ton during the day. Short naps are fine but if you want them to get into a schedule of sleeping at night, tire them out as much as possible during the day. My boy started sleeping through the entire night by the time he was 3 months old. And with the potty training, bringing them outside as much as you possibly can, make it fun and exciting every time she goes potty outside. Treats, excited voices, etc! And if she keeps having issues with going potty in her crate, there is these dividers you can get for it to make the space smaller. If they have enough room to walk around alot in the crate they are more likely to use the bathroom in there. If they have less space, its not as desirable as thats where they are laying. And something thats really good for them when they have loose stools is to add a little bit of pure pumpkin to their food

    Wanted to pass along some advice, it’s highly recommended to use stainless steel food and water bowls as they hold much less bacteria than plastic and ceramic bowls. Ceramic dog bowls are known to harbor the most bacteria.

    Try to aim for specifically puppy kibble. That way she can handle the smaller size better. Also grain free all the way! Purina and main brands like that usually have a lot of rice and other grains that can have long term effects on digestion. Not to mention that use a lot of byproducts. We usually get Taste of the Wild. It’s a little more pricier but the health of our pets is worth it in the long run. 😉. She’s adorable!! You did a good job setting up a cozy and safe home for her 🐶 💗 🐾
