I am using the XZ Premium. The display is amazing and i really enjoy playing with the 960 fps video. I also spend many hours listening to music on this device and i love its sound quality. Nice and very accurate review btw. I subscribed!

They are not recognized because they have no marketing precense in the USA but are popular in places like Germany Sweden (ie intelligent people)
Sony will sell officially through USA carriers 2018 and hopefully with enough advertisement it will become a big player
No one talk about that we can use it as a remote for the PS4!! thanks a lot & do full review for this device because maybe it will be my next phone.
Buy the international version on Amazon with a working fingerprint scanner and it's 150 dollars less expensive. Now the Xz Premium beats the galaxy and iPhone hands down.
I have Hong Kong version with dual sim and finger print sensor where you can scan multiple fingers for recognition. Best phone ever I have experienced.

If you think iphone is the winner, you either are a troll or have never seen them in head to head performance tests. Also, I have put my phone next to an iPhone 7 plus and the owners themselves admit my phone in 4K native mode blows them out of the water. Period. Newer, superior and better.

Hey, thanks for the review - I've had one for 3 weeks now and overall completely love it.
Display is fantastic and there's no need to worry about it being 1080p most of the time - that's more than enough and still looks great. You can jig it to run 4k all the time (battery life isn't too badly affected) but there are issues with some screens not rendering properly etc. When you do view 4k/hdr content it really is impressive.
Audio is amazing through headphones, really fantastic quality. It has been said that the speakers are a bit quiet and I do find that too sometimes. There's no way that listening to music through the speakers is high quality at all but bluetooth speakers are so cheap now that it's easy to overcome this.
Like all of the top end phones, the Xperia is super smooth and fluid to use; it's also ridiculously fast with any type of connection.
I get wifi speeds - in the same location/network etc - almost twice as fast as the (admittedly old) phone that I have upgraded from.
In normal or bright light the camera is great; the predictive capture is really useful if you're shooting moving things and overall image quality is really good. You only see differences with higher quality images on screen when you start pixel peeping and you get what you deserve when you start doing that!
In poor light you need to start going manual to get the best out of it but I haven't seen anything worth shouting about tbh. I think expectations are a bit unrealistic - you want to take a picture in the dark with a tiny sensor and expect it to be bright and clear - just not going to happen. What little video I've shot looks good too but I haven't really tested this.
Where I am disappointed with the camera is in not being able to get RAW files out of it. I'm an amateur photographer and am used to shooting in RAW and post processing. None of the recommended camera apps that I've tried can do so either (and some of them don't seem to have been optimised for the xperia yet as they only acces part of the available resolution).
And the 960 fps? It's fun in good light but do not buy the phone because of this.
A lot's been written about the form factor (ie, the bezels!) but I honestly like it. It really is good to have 2 front facing speakers and somewhere to hold that isn't the screen. I have the black version and really don't see the bezels at all. There has also been comment about the square corners but, again, these have not been a problem at all for me; they're actually rounded on the side and that's the part that rests against your hand. Talking of which, I have reasonably large (not massive) hands and can easily use the phone one handed.
Finally, the fingerprint sensor is great and in a position where you can pick the phone up with either hand and have it unlock immediately. If you're in the US, I don't see why you would buy a US version (you'd go for a different brand)
This phone is a beautiful object (if that matters to you) and a really great smartphone.
Sony is the coolest handsets manufacturer.
Just bought my XZ Premium as new in 2020! I'm loving it!
Have a Hong Kong version with dual SIM and finger print sensor where I have 3 different fingers scanned for recognition. Best phone ever I have experienced, let alone owning one. I am lucky I can afford to have such an incredible phone.

hubby pretty much snatched this device from my hand as soon as he saw the features :P so I'm like -_-" lol ... he rarely take dibs so I was out of choice. He also loves the same features that you mentioned!!!

Nice video my dude... People are pretty much sound asleep and snoring 😴 on this phone. It is by far the best of 2017. This will be my next barring any major changes from IFA 2017 (Sony will be announcing new devices) or what the next Pixel 2 looks like...

This phone and the Galaxy S8 are listed here in Australia as having better reception in rural areas unlike most other flagships. Its not just the network its also the phone itself. Could you cover this subject? I want this phone!

Andru Edwards I saw in a RUclips video a guy that with a pc installs some kind of Sony Xperia software from UK to a US phone and said they all come with fingerprint sensor but it is not activated. Do you know if that's actually true?

Thanks for a informative review on this phone.Im in the market for a new phone and as a current iPhone user (6+years) bit worried about going Android.I nearly got a z5 2yrs ago because of the 4K the screen is amazing period.The XZ premium is £629 here vs the S8+which is £150 more expensive.The XZ has a better spec in every way and cheaper so it's what I'm gonna buy.Very few good reviews on this phone Most just bash it because it's not made by Samsung 4K is pointless on a phone blah blah.If S8 had a 4K screen it would be a diff story.Every phone has pros/cons but fact is it's the best spec phone out now period.I was waiting for the iPhone 8 but they are talking bout £900-1000 here and they are dreaming because they're product is already over priced and everyone I know is going android.
Can't understand why this phone isn't promoted in uk either? Everyone loves their TVs here and would buy the phone if they knew about it!

An absolutely amazing phone. I hope there software stays fast after 2 years (or more). Any other recommendations on phone s that have long lasting software. This is my main choice at the moment.

They really blew this one out of the park. I bought one and my favorite feature is the speed and response. But that 4k hdr is amazing. Seriously. I came from a galaxy s6 and this phone is better in every way except one... The feel and quality. The xz feels cheaper. The glass feels more plasticky than the s6. And the metal sides on my s6 feel better than xz. But everything else the XZ wins.

...POWER and SPEED! In quite a few side-by-side performance reviews I've seen, this beast is Numero Uno, with only the HTC U11 coming in second...The 4K display is also awesome, but you'd expect that from the company that introduced the Trinitron over 3 decades ago... Nasty part is that North American users don't get that dope fingerprint scanner on the power button because of some stupid licensing issue... The camera could use some improvement with the stills, but that slo-mo on the video end is the best around, if you're into that...

Andru Edwards I know, but do they have to take up that much real estate? Bezels on a phone make it look dated. As you know, the trend is for as small as possible.
