The part about making sure people under 21 are not consuming alcohol is the part I really like. I was on Carnival Magic 2 years ago and there were 2 fifteen year old girls using the Sign and Sail cards of the two adults in their travel party to get alcohol at various bars, they were drunk, it was scary and highly inappropriate.
Good for Carnival. I think they are doing their best to change their image. We’ve been cruising Carnival for years and will be taking our first RC cruise later this year. We noticed on our last Carnival cruise (Jubilee) that it’s just gone down hill.
Great move by Carnival to have a person on each ship responsible for monitoring for intoxicated passengers. I would love to join you on the 1st Royal Caribbean lcon largest ships cruise from Galveston. The port is quickly headed to being the 3rd largest in the U.S. At some point the cruise industry will be become over saturated with ships & likely start discounting.
Some people try to get their money’s worth of drinks. The drink package is really expensive. Maybe have a cheaper option for drinks packages. Maybe half the price for about half the drinks and see what happens. Still, some people are just drunks. No way in hell that I would want a job just dealing with extremely drunk people. I worked in law enforcement and dealt with many drunk people, but not all the damn time!
I sailed on NCL's Bliss to Alaska.😢 Won't sail with them again. Specialty restaurants ran out of certain menu items, and all the bars ran out of Miller Lite beer. Couldn't find any places to eat after midnight either.
Our Halloween night is over now $237 worth of candy gone in an hour and a half. It was awesome. And I have to say way to go carnival. It is about time to monitor people on their drinking .
We are retired. Our ideal cruise is 10-14 days. We will never book a short “ booze cruise”. I understand that is how cruise lines are getting new cruisers and younger cruisers. The nice thing about cruising is you can find something that fits your vacation needs.
I would like this RSA person to have the ability to shut down someone’s ability to buy drinks and they could set it for a certain amount of time like shut it down for 4 hours or 8 or until the next day. Then they go to any bar and try buy a drink and it flags it and won’t allow the transaction to go through.
I think it’s excellent… If you can’t drink responsibly when you get so inebriated that you can’t even find your room like what happened on my cruise with the person I went with and start getting belligerent with people. I think this is sorely needed… I don’t think it’s a majority of the people, but the ones that are acting out of control and completely inebriated need to be dealt with
I used to deal with this when I was a bouncer at a bar definitely a pain in the ass job for what these jobs pay. On the Texas ports they are horrible in getting to from an airport no viable easy way to get to the port.
@ ya it’s not fun and when people drink they get nasty and get ballsy and sometimes even physical. Once they get to that point and out there hands on me I don’t hold back and take them down. This day in age with how people are and how they record everything it’s definitely not a job worth having. One of the many reasons I stopped doing security.
Says who? What gives you the right to pass judgement on others Karen? BTW….under age drinkers will still get alcohol and the RSA Supervisors will over do their jobs.
RSA on carnival is a good idea. People get the drink package and "want to get their moneys worth". Sadly they do need to do something. People get wild on carnival...
They won't have to follow them around to see if they have another drink at another bar, they will just put it in the system that they are cut off for so many hours, drink package or not. They just have to make sure they don't hurt themselves or someone else. I actually on 1 cruise drank to much, passed out right in front of my cabin door and got sick. They cut my alcohol out for 48 hours and put a lock on my balcony door for 24 hours and I had to sign a statement from security that I would be responsible before I was allowed to buy alcohol again. Of course that was my first and last being I'm not a big drinker anyway. I just had fun, and almost made it to my cabin ! Lol
My thing with short cruises is I’m not flying to a port, spending money on a flight and hotel for a short cruise. It would definitely have to be a 7-8 day cruise.
What I don’t get is why offer so many drinks in the drink package , if it causes those problems. So much that they have to create a new position. Lower the price and the amt of drinks. Seems like a no brainer. What do they think will happen to the average person that drinks this much?
It really has been needed for a LONG time. Our last trip to Alaska, two women were drunk and heckling the music act to the point security had to be called. They were spoken to and then the next thing you know they are right back at it. Security had to send them to their room but only after an hour of this behavior. Why would anyone act like that? The poor performer (a very nice guy playing guitar} was totally offended and tried to say to them please stop, but they wouldn't let up. I have never seen anything like it before. Drunk and abusive! The others like us began to defend the guy, and these two women started screaming at us, then one fell off her chair onto the floor. Security did nothing but tell them to leave. Why? We saw them on the ship the rest of trip, sitting at bar and drinking again. The guy we didnt' see again.... we guess that Carnival had to pull him from performing to protect him from these ladies. Sad stuff that the drunks got to continue partying.
I don’t like the idea of the RSA. There is a fine line being drinking, having a good time & being inebriated to the point of needing to be cut off. If you get a strict RSA or an asshole they are going to have more issues when they try to cut off someone just because they’ve had a lot and are having fun. I usually always have the drink package and can put away 10 a day. Does that mean they’re going to be watching me? I’ve never gotten in trouble on a cruise for being too drunk.
That’s very true. If you’re drinking, having fun, laughing with your friends, you shouldn’t be cut off. If you’re bothering others not with you, being rude to the bartender, etc then you should be addressed.
I'd rather try to teach a chicken to tap dance rather than deal with a drunk!! By the way; be sure and buy the drink package!! (what a joke!) The RSA's need to wear their life preservers because they'll probably get thrown over board!! LOLOL I see RC is getting ready to specialize in "Booze Cruises"! Better hire some "RSAs" !!!! PS: I'm booked on Regal Princess cruising out of Galveston on November 10th!! Fingers crossed!!
Am I the only person that thinks this is one of the stupidest things I’ve heard recently. You’re gonna try to stop people from becoming intoxicated? Thousands of people on a cruise ship that you’re selling the drink pass to?
I think Carnival has many, many more problems to address. How bout vaping and smoking on balconies and other non smoking areas. What ya gonna do. How bout dress codes in certain areas ? No shirts in dining room ? Really ? Just saw it last week. Nothing said to him. Hate to say it but Carnival is turning into Walmart. They need to raise the prices on cruises. They are catering to a lower class of people. That’s the real problem. They taking the fun out of the fun ships. 😎🥃
Thanks!
Wow! Thanks so much for the Super Thanks!
I'm way okay with it. Hats off to Carnival for taking the steps to make sure everyone is safe while drinking or not. Thank you.
Kudos to Carnival for watching the ones who over drink👏👏👏

The should make the "watchers" be security to keep kids out of adult locations.
Good for Carnival. I think they are doing their best to change their image. We’ve been cruising Carnival for years and will be taking our first RC cruise later this year. We noticed on our last Carnival cruise (Jubilee) that it’s just gone down hill.
GREAT IDEA AND KUDDOS TO CARNIVAL CRUISE LINES, I TOTALLY AGREE👍
To RSA: I’m not as think as you drunk I am.
YES for Galveston! That’s my home port.
Hopefully Corpus Christi, Texas will become a Cruise port city! Once our new Harbor bridge is finished. Keeping my fingers crossed!
We are turning off the porch lights and going league bowling!!!
Way to go Carnival, sorry you have to monitor the ass-clowns who don't monitor themselves.
I agree, Kudos to Carnival. I wonder how it will work when implemented.

Forget about the booze. What Carnival really needs is a Weed Enforcement Officer.
Never met a belligerent toker. I have met many belligerent drunks. 🤷♀️
@@loripeters1961 I'm talking about the smell. I don't care if they use it, I just don't want to share their joint.

GOOD! Some people pee in public places, the hallways or hot tub! If you can’t drink reasonably, then you do need to be monitored!
Our Halloween night is over now $237 worth of candy gone in an hour and a half. It was awesome. And I have to say way to go carnival. It is about time to monitor people on their drinking .

Great idea but I feel sorry for the RSAs. What a terrible job!
I was thinking the same thing. They probably won't pay them near what they should get. I'd never want that job.

Great thoughts! I’m in total agreement.
Do you really think that this is a good idea? Drinking responsibly is subjective and this is going to be a problem.
@@JeffreyStockardthese are the one who a drunk and acting stupid..they’re usually very easy to spot
The limit is 13 drinks.
Challenge accepted.

I agree I’ve hit 15 a few times and I hardly drink in real life

They will find a way around it. They will just get someone else to purchase the drink for them.

Oh no we might gat a CUI Cruising Under the Influence
They should good for them
Loved your video. So I am actually a New RSA supervisor. If you have questions I would be happy to answer them!
Thanks so much! Will you send me an email at travel@bookislandtime.com
We only go on cruises 25 days or more
A short cruise is a waste of time for us. We want to try RC out of Galveston. We live 2.5 hours north of the port. East texas whoop whoop. ❤❤❤
Halloween in Vegas Baby,No kiddie's allowed!
Probably a good idea. Too many people over indulge and then you have fights by the pizza bar. Unfortunate, but needed.
Yes, but are Carnival's new hired going to be bouncer types or will they be Filipina mall guards (5 ft, 100 #)?
Thankless job too be sure
Shelter in place for Halloween,lol
We’ve been there before too! Turn on a move and turn all the lights off.
They should identify A BAC that is the limit and freeze their account for, say an hour or ninety minutes. Just a quick swipe and no drinks.
Challage accepted!!!!!!
Good. Drinkers may not be!
I live in the woods 🤷🏻♀️

We are booked on the Allure March 2026

How are people getting so trashed on Carnival with a limited drink package vs RC or Norwegian that has an unlimited drink package

@ Yes, exactly. The RSA is going to have to know the difference.
Well if Im commenting here then we are not Participating in Halloween
So how many of these people are they hiring. They will need an army to do thisSMH
Hmmm. Did they get sued by someone who got accosted by a person who had too much to drink?
I'm on the 11/10 sailing.... I want to be able to give you a hard time while the Horns are playing the Hogs.
Oh goodness! What a place that will be to watch the game! Horns down!!
3 and 4 day cruises are not worth most people's time to travel to the Port to get on and off the ship.
I always try to put a couple together to save a drive but still don’t look for short cruises but will do one if it fits in between the longer cruise
Went out to eat!
I don’t like short cruises.
I think the wording is messy. I can become intoxicated and be responsible and safe.

Too many man overboards not to do anything... Kudos Carnival!!
Hidden question, why do their bartenders overpour the adult kids? Seen too many drunks late at night making a-hole of themselves.
Instead of RSA the position should be titled CPP! Chief Party Pooper!
Adult babysitter lol
How many of these people they gonna have because one person can’t be all over at the same time
Floating housing projects full of drunken residents. Sounds wonderful.
Pathetic people are why we can't have nice things. It's not hard to behave well.
I stay away from it all
The fact that Carnival has to employ a staff of 27 RSAs speaks volumes about the type of passengers who choose to sail on Carnival.
No it doesnt this happens on RCL and NCL as well
