Yeah. Mario and Luigi now have new low-health idle animations based on the original DS version, especially when the player decides on which action to choose. Their low-health idle animations in the Superstar Saga remake, on the other hand, were exactly the same as in Dream Team and Paper Jam.

Zmonster 456 They’re Warp Pipes, they’re not actually physically connected to each other. Bowser just sucked in one end of the Warp while the other one is still outside. What I don’t understand is how Mario and Luigi change size when going through one. They become microscopic when inside Bowser, how does that work?
@@renaultft1917 Yes, it is, technically. Scripted damage is made so that it is impossible to avoid taking damage. This is similar to a common trope in RPGs known as "Forced Loss Battles." Regardless of what you try to do, the game will not allow you to win that fight. It can be frustrating, especially when you end up wasting items and power points in these kinds of fights.
The graphics, the hit sound and the music are not exactly that great either, if you ask me. It already looks outdated while the older version aged very well. I don't understand what went wrong.

I find it odd that Elder Shroob is there, considering she died in Partners In Time. Or at least I'm pretty sure she did. Obviously it is an easter egg, but it seems like a paradox to me.
I'm going to be honest, I like the remake in places, it refines certain tracks to near perfection, makes certain bosses significantly more balanced (looking at you fawful express), and makes some of the more enjoyable parts like the minigames great! However some problems it has are: 1. Making fun bosses a cakewalk (I mean seriously did they have to make the dark bowser and dark star core a joke) 2. Removing the infinite combos for the pipe and magic mirror (turned the x-boss slayers into things not even worth using anymore) 3. Slowing the game down on purpose (because the original ran 60 fps easily and super star saga's remake ran just as well) 4. And lastly they removed the save anywhere function as well (seriously dreamteam through ssdx did this why couldn't they do it here as well) Over all it may seem like I don't like it but considering where alphadream was at when this released, I think it was a great send off to a great company, one last hurrah by remaking their best m&l game for one last blast from the past! Here's to hoping someone else will adopt the series and make it bigger and better then ever!!! Long live the M&L RPG series and never forget alphadream!
The magic windows and the pipe special attacks were not infinite. For magic windows in the original, it's like 20 to get the max damage from it. The pipe attack is still 8 hits, I think, for max damage.
@corva6621 What video did you watch? If it was the one that got to 425 jumps, that is only in the cholesterol challenge node. Outside of there, it has a limit, I would know I have reached the limit in a regular battle, and the enemy was still standing.

Anyway the influence Cackletta had on him is undeniable, there are even musical references to that. And it’s not true that he did everything, he wanted to flee while Cackletta decided to fight (even though she lost, but Fawful would have too) and after they capture the wrong Peach (Luigi) Fawful wanted to go after Peach, but Cackletta decided to take over Bowser’s army, that was ofc a better idea.
You know in my opinion I think that this remake is a masterpiece to me. I really love this remake cause bowser’s inside story was my first rpg game I played. The graphics, animations, and the normal battles and boss fights are very well done. And the remake music are very wonderful especially the dark star music
They ruined the gear. It's overpowered, and they also destroyed the Challenge Medal - which ends up doing the exact opposite it's supposed to do. Instead of making the game more difficult, it makes the game so easy you can beat bosses 30 levels under the recommended. Edit: they also made the D-Star Wear limited to 1, while in the original game you could get 2 for each bro.
I agree that the game is a masterpiece, but where I disagree and a lot of other people can agree is that BIS did not need to have a remake. PIT (Partners in Time) needed a remake mainly for some of the quality-of-life changes that the games after it had. Don't get me wrong the game has charm, but looking back on what it has and did, it's not up to current standards. At least that's my take on it

I'm sure everybody likes the older version because it's just sharper, the style of the game looks rather soft compared to the original pixels, the soundtracks inspires less energy in my opinion also, the pace of the battles seems to have gone down a gear
Also, idk if it's just me, but the voice delivery is very awkward too. They even used Luigi's Superstar Saga 'Okie Dokie' instead of recreating or recycling the original Inside Story 'Okie Dokie.'
Yeah, also Charles Martinet Sounds bored for some reason when luigi speaks, un like the original version where both Bros spund energetic. Bowser's model looks neat, but too polished for the visual style of the game in general. While the original M&L 3DS games look good anough (bc they were made thinking in the console) this remake lacks the innovation, and looks like a simple copy paste with upgraded graphics. Bis was made talking in consideraciones the limitation of the DS, and if you just polish the graphics instead of adapting them to the upgraded visual style it looks out of place. Just like SSS final boss. It looks intimidating and good on the gba, but making a 3D model for it without keeping and adapting its animations from. The source game you get a lame looking boss. Still don't know why they made a remake of Bis if the game has aged pretty good because of how well the game was designed.

yeah, there actually was a 60 fps option kind of programmed into the game, but attack patterns perform inconsistently if used. Maybe just a month more of work and they could've added a "New 3DS option" like in that one Zelda game. Sad they had time contrainsts due to 3DS dying and stuff.
Bowser looks ok imo, his model is even a little better than how he looks in Dream Team, if they had just detailed the model of the original game, well, I think that would have looked horrible.

As a huge fan of said series, I strongly believe that it's in serious need of a revival/reboot. Just because AlphaDream is now just a memory, that doesn't mean that the Mario & Luigi RPG series should remain cancelled forever. If the Mario & Luigi RPG series receives a new developer, and a new home on Nintendo Switch, then one of these graphical styles should be used below. 1. Pre-rendered 2D sprites and backdrops, in the graphical style of the series' box art 2. 100% 3D models and backdrops, similar to the modern Pokémon RPG games I intentionally omitted the up-scaling of the 3DS graphical style, because for many people, said graphical style was far too generic and too stale for their liking nowadays.
Bad sounds, toned down music, slowing of the pace, lowering of the difficulty and lessening of background details, especially the cel shading. It's very similar to Dragon Ball Raging Blast back when it was compared to Budokai Tenkaichi 3
As a die hard fan of the original game I’ll give the remake one thing that surpasses the original. It seems a lot less hand holdy with the given options to use the guide whenever you want unlike the original where they tried to shove a tutorial down your throat whenever they got the chance
I actually have this and the OG. I'm glad that it got a remake. It was one of my favorite childhood games along with Mario Party DS and Pokemon Fire Red.
For the worm sage I found a trick that made it nearly impossible to lose, and it worked in the original game at least. If you do entirely defensive attacks for the small worm, and 2 excellent shell attacks for big worm, and repeat this process till it dies, you take almost no damage.
Honestly I like a lot of the remake even if it has some problems there’s a lot of things I like. I personally prefer the graphics (sort of, some things look weird or rushed) since I just like things without outlines better. Fury status (for bosses) is a cool addition and kind of reminds me of bosses from Kirby RtDL. I love the Dark Star battle theme and while I also enjoy Dark Fawful’s, something feels off. Like it doesn’t feel exactly like a battle theme? Idk. Speaking of Dark Fawful I enjoy Fawful’s Castle way way more in the remake, just all the colors and stuff looks really nice. I also enjoy details like updated areas (Cavi Cape and Fawful’s Castle being personal favorites) the color change for Dark Fawful’s collar, the arms added to his chase attack, the final boss effects and explosions. Also most of the music just sounds way better to me. Don’t know why I said all this for some random RUclips comment but whatever
I think half the reason the original battle feels much better is because the music stops after the dark star is defeated in the original, but in this one it continues through until the end
My only wish for this game was that they could of brought back the boss theme from Partners in Time when fighting the Shroobs, if there were no plans to remake the game then they could of at least given us that since the boss is 100% optional and hidden…
I was wondering how the remake looked and played. Don't get me wrong, it seems to work well enough, but the original seems a lot more fluid, and the remixed battle themes are a mixed bag. That said, the backgrounds are breathtaking, and they definitely did the original game justice. I think I'd still prefer the original, but I'm glad they decided to remake it for the 3DS. Crossing my fingers that they do Partners in Time next, as I never managed to play that one.
what makes me even more sad is that there may never be a good Mario rpg again or heck even one at all and the bosses in the platformers are boring and same old stuff and odyssey doesn’t quite cut it. It’s the truth

I have an idea for the next Mario and Luigi game: Mario and Luigi: Rpg 6 (for now) + PiT Story: One day Bowser kidnaps Peach Yet again 🙄 the Mario bros save the damsel but then a few moments later a new villain appears ( I'll leave the name to you ) and makes a deal with Bowser. The Villain plans to wipe the entire universe and make a new one with Bowser's help. Bowser wants to know what's in it for him and the villain (I'll call him t.t for now) agrees to wipe Mario and Luigi as well as all the toads ;) and create a new mushroom kingdom for Bowser. Bowser foolishly agrees to a bad idea just like he did in 2009. So Tt has a machine ready to do so but to power it he needs seven precious collectibles ( moons stars crystal etc. ) but the type he needs is in the Star Kingdom. So a new friend comes over to the mushroom kingdom to warn everyone about the evil plan. So they must go over to this place and regain them before they are destroyed entirely! T.T (timetroubler) revives Cackletta, Fawful, Shroobs, and tricks them too! He does the same to Wario and Waluigi. And this should be on the Nintendo Switch! What do you think? Any suggestions?

I like the remake of this game. The things it does right is redesigning the insides of Bowser's body to be ,ore cellular like than just random images. Another thing I like aboutis the dark star & Fawful getting their own battle themes. Even though it's not as expressive as the original(which is the main problem for what I can see), it's still a good remake in my eyes.
I really enjoyed the remake. It improved where the original had issues, and yes it did. I'm not one to complain about difficulty, but the remake did seem a bit easier. Attacks were easier to pull off though, and if you ask me that's an improvement

You know, in the cutscene before the Kretin fight, Luigi actually had a good idea when asking Starlow to fight the Kretin - see, you're supposed to be very specific on which Kretins you attack in order to make them blue (red for Mario, green for Luigi), right? Well, Luigi's idea was to have Starlow disconnect the Kretins with her magic so that Mario could have an easier time picking them off. And if any of the Kretins escaped and bee-lined for Peach or if Mario & Starlow failed to take care of the Kretins, Luigi would just easily clean up however many were left in order to guard the princess. Alas, Starlow is a asshole, so here we are.
Well, thank you both for responding now. Well, I beat the game, and got everyone at good levels I got Bowser at level 43, Both Mario and Luigi at levels 49. It was fun to play through that game again. I played the DS version long ago.

I never played the remake, though I think this Game should have been on the Nintendo Switch instead of the Nintendo 3DS. This game being on the 3DS despite the Switch being a recent Nintendo console and the 3DS being on discontinuation is the reason why AlphaDream went bankrupt.
Loved the original. I've beaten it at least five times ever since I got it in 2009. That said, the people whining about this remake are just annoying. I just beat the remake and it's the same game. It didn't feel like a downgrade or an upgrade. It felt the same, other than the epic new tracks for Dark Star and Fawful.
Sometimes it doesn’t really feel like Bowser as an actual “villain” per se. I mean he’s not exactly a great guy, but there have been plenty of times where he works with his common nemeses (such as in this game, even though he wasn’t super aware that Mario and Luigi were inside him).
I can't be the only one who prefers the original graphics. Also they slowed down the enemies attacks and special attacks, like Goomba storm and Snack Basket WAY too much. The game looks too easy now. And why does Bowser look so stiff in the giant battles? Not to mention the music sounds a lot worse. Maybe I'm just old but I vastly prefer the original in every aspect
@Daniele Silvestri Yeah, those looked like a joke. However, one good thing I have to say is an energy orb makes much more sense than an actual bomb. However, it doesn't really matter because no one is going to get hit by that attack anyway

The Remake has is good things to Like i love what they do to the Final Castle, Deep Castle and the Cutscenes of the Final battle. Also the Background of the Dark star Core battle. Without mention the Soundtrack and the Rage stage of the Bosses.

Yeah. Mario and Luigi now have new low-health idle animations based on the original DS version, especially when the player decides on which action to choose. Their low-health idle animations in the Superstar Saga remake, on the other hand, were exactly the same as in Dream Team and Paper Jam.

They’re Warp Pipes, they’re not actually physically connected to each other. Bowser just sucked in one end of the Warp while the other one is still outside. What I don’t understand is how Mario and Luigi change size when going through one. They become microscopic when inside Bowser, how does that work?

This is similar to a common trope in RPGs known as "Forced Loss Battles." Regardless of what you try to do, the game will not allow you to win that fight. It can be frustrating, especially when you end up wasting items and power points in these kinds of fights.

I'm going to be honest, I like the remake in places, it refines certain tracks to near perfection, makes certain bosses significantly more balanced (looking at you fawful express), and makes some of the more enjoyable parts like the minigames great! However some problems it has are:
1. Making fun bosses a cakewalk (I mean seriously did they have to make the dark bowser and dark star core a joke)
2. Removing the infinite combos for the pipe and magic mirror (turned the x-boss slayers into things not even worth using anymore)
3. Slowing the game down on purpose (because the original ran 60 fps easily and super star saga's remake ran just as well)
4. And lastly they removed the save anywhere function as well (seriously dreamteam through ssdx did this why couldn't they do it here as well)
Over all it may seem like I don't like it but considering where alphadream was at when this released, I think it was a great send off to a great company, one last hurrah by remaking their best m&l game for one last blast from the past! Here's to hoping someone else will adopt the series and make it bigger and better then ever!!! Long live the M&L RPG series and never forget alphadream!
The magic windows and the pipe special attacks were not infinite. For magic windows in the original, it's like 20 to get the max damage from it. The pipe attack is still 8 hits, I think, for max damage.

@corva6621 What video did you watch? If it was the one that got to 425 jumps, that is only in the cholesterol challenge node. Outside of there, it has a limit, I would know I have reached the limit in a regular battle, and the enemy was still standing.

You know in my opinion I think that this remake is a masterpiece to me. I really love this remake cause bowser’s inside story was my first rpg game I played. The graphics, animations, and the normal battles and boss fights are very well done. And the remake music are very wonderful especially the dark star music

They ruined the gear. It's overpowered, and they also destroyed the Challenge Medal - which ends up doing the exact opposite it's supposed to do. Instead of making the game more difficult, it makes the game so easy you can beat bosses 30 levels under the recommended.
Edit: they also made the D-Star Wear limited to 1, while in the original game you could get 2 for each bro.
I agree that the game is a masterpiece, but where I disagree and a lot of other people can agree is that BIS did not need to have a remake. PIT (Partners in Time) needed a remake mainly for some of the quality-of-life changes that the games after it had. Don't get me wrong the game has charm, but looking back on what it has and did, it's not up to current standards. At least that's my take on it

Bowser's model looks neat, but too polished for the visual style of the game in general. While the original M&L 3DS games look good anough (bc they were made thinking in the console) this remake lacks the innovation, and looks like a simple copy paste with upgraded graphics.
Bis was made talking in consideraciones the limitation of the DS, and if you just polish the graphics instead of adapting them to the upgraded visual style it looks out of place.
Just like SSS final boss. It looks intimidating and good on the gba, but making a 3D model for it without keeping and adapting its animations from. The source game you get a lame looking boss.

yeah, there actually was a 60 fps option kind of programmed into the game, but attack patterns perform inconsistently if used. Maybe just a month more of work and they could've added a "New 3DS option" like in that one Zelda game. Sad they had time contrainsts due to 3DS dying and stuff.
Bowser looks ok imo, his model is even a little better than how he looks in Dream Team, if they had just detailed the model of the original game, well, I think that would have looked horrible.

I certainly hope that another third-party developer, or a wholly-owned subsidiary/division of Nintendo, takes over the Mario & Luigi RPG series. As a huge fan of said series, I strongly believe that it's in serious need of a revival/reboot. Just because AlphaDream is now just a memory, that doesn't mean that the Mario & Luigi RPG series should remain cancelled forever. If the Mario & Luigi RPG series receives a new developer, and a new home on Nintendo Switch, then one of these graphical styles should be used below.
1. Pre-rendered 2D sprites and backdrops, in the graphical style of the series' box art
2. 100% 3D models and backdrops, similar to the modern Pokémon RPG games
I intentionally omitted the up-scaling of the 3DS graphical style, because for many people, said graphical style was far too generic and too stale for their liking nowadays.

As a die hard fan of the original game I’ll give the remake one thing that surpasses the original. It seems a lot less hand holdy with the given options to use the guide whenever you want unlike the original where they tried to shove a tutorial down your throat whenever they got the chance

I sometimes play audio of the JoJo beatdowns over that scene and similar scenes.
For the worm sage I found a trick that made it nearly impossible to lose, and it worked in the original game at least. If you do entirely defensive attacks for the small worm, and 2 excellent shell attacks for big worm, and repeat this process till it dies, you take almost no damage.
This is the game (or more like the original one) where Bowser got the respect he deserves.
Honestly I like a lot of the remake even if it has some problems there’s a lot of things I like. I personally prefer the graphics (sort of, some things look weird or rushed) since I just like things without outlines better. Fury status (for bosses) is a cool addition and kind of reminds me of bosses from Kirby RtDL. I love the Dark Star battle theme and while I also enjoy Dark Fawful’s, something feels off. Like it doesn’t feel exactly like a battle theme? Idk. Speaking of Dark Fawful I enjoy Fawful’s Castle way way more in the remake, just all the colors and stuff looks really nice. I also enjoy details like updated areas (Cavi Cape and Fawful’s Castle being personal favorites) the color change for Dark Fawful’s collar, the arms added to his chase attack, the final boss effects and explosions. Also most of the music just sounds way better to me.

I think half the reason the original battle feels much better is because the music stops after the dark star is defeated in the original, but in this one it continues through until the end

I was wondering how the remake looked and played. Don't get me wrong, it seems to work well enough, but the original seems a lot more fluid, and the remixed battle themes are a mixed bag. That said, the backgrounds are breathtaking, and they definitely did the original game justice. I think I'd still prefer the original, but I'm glad they decided to remake it for the 3DS. Crossing my fingers that they do Partners in Time next, as I never managed to play that one.

Sadly they can't do partner's in time due to alpha dream specially being low in budget and shutting down, (I believe) form what I saw in some sources.

I have an idea for the next Mario and Luigi game:
Mario and Luigi: Rpg 6 (for now) + PiT
Story:
One day Bowser kidnaps Peach Yet again 🙄 the Mario bros save the damsel but then a few moments later a new villain appears ( I'll leave the name to you ) and makes a deal with Bowser. The Villain plans to wipe the entire universe and make a new one with Bowser's help.
Bowser wants to know what's in it for him and the villain (I'll call him t.t for now) agrees to wipe Mario and Luigi as well as all the toads ;) and create a new mushroom kingdom for Bowser.
Bowser foolishly agrees to a bad idea just like he did in 2009. So Tt has a machine ready to do so but to power it he needs seven precious collectibles ( moons stars crystal etc. ) but the type he needs is in the Star Kingdom.
So a new friend comes over to the mushroom kingdom to warn everyone about the evil plan. So they must go over to this place and regain them before they are destroyed entirely! T.T (timetroubler) revives Cackletta, Fawful, Shroobs, and tricks them too! He does the same to Wario and Waluigi.
And this should be on the Nintendo Switch!

I like the remake of this game. The things it does right is redesigning the insides of Bowser's body to be ,ore cellular like than just random images. Another thing I like aboutis the dark star & Fawful getting their own battle themes. Even though it's not as expressive as the original(which is the main problem for what I can see), it's still a good remake in my eyes.

I really enjoyed the remake. It improved where the original had issues, and yes it did. I'm not one to complain about difficulty, but the remake did seem a bit easier. Attacks were easier to pull off though, and if you ask me that's an improvement
When I first played this game I struggled beating the bosses but after playing a few more times I beat every single boss including every giant Bowser boss battle on my first try without dying

You know, in the cutscene before the Kretin fight, Luigi actually had a good idea when asking Starlow to fight the Kretin - see, you're supposed to be very specific on which Kretins you attack in order to make them blue (red for Mario, green for Luigi), right? Well, Luigi's idea was to have Starlow disconnect the Kretins with her magic so that Mario could have an easier time picking them off. And if any of the Kretins escaped and bee-lined for Peach or if Mario & Starlow failed to take care of the Kretins, Luigi would just easily clean up however many were left in order to guard the princess. Alas, Starlow is a asshole, so here we are.

Both Mario and Luigi at levels 49. It was fun to play through that game again. I played the DS version long ago.

Edit: There is an XP grind in the Airway of Bowser that is very good for leveling up the Mario Bros. I’ll make a video on my account for RUclips to show how to do it.
Update! I grinded up to Level 65 Mario & Luigi, and Bowser is Level 45! I have a EXP Grind Tutorial on my channel!
I wish that during the Broque fight with the vacuum block tutorial, Mario would say hello and Luigi would say goodbye when he got inhaled.

I never played the remake, though I think this Game should have been on the Nintendo Switch instead of the Nintendo 3DS. This game being on the 3DS despite the Switch being a recent Nintendo console and the 3DS being on discontinuation is the reason why AlphaDream went bankrupt.

Its super easy to do. Now if you want a robot thing, go to Broque Madame and dont miss 1 for as long as you can

Loved the original. I've beaten it at least five times ever since I got it in 2009.
That said, the people whining about this remake are just annoying. I just beat the remake and it's the same game. It didn't feel like a downgrade or an upgrade. It felt the same, other than the epic new tracks for Dark Star and Fawful.

Sometimes it doesn’t really feel like Bowser as an actual “villain” per se. I mean he’s not exactly a great guy, but there have been plenty of times where he works with his common nemeses (such as in this game, even though he wasn’t super aware that Mario and Luigi were inside him).
Even at max resolution, this game feels blurry and darker-shaded.
Bowser is very cool, tho: reminds me of Brawl's.

I can't be the only one who prefers the original graphics.
Also they slowed down the enemies attacks and special attacks, like Goomba storm and Snack Basket WAY too much. The game looks too easy now.
And why does Bowser look so stiff in the giant battles?
Not to mention the music sounds a lot worse.

@Daniele Silvestri Yeah, those looked like a joke. However, one good thing I have to say is an energy orb makes much more sense than an actual bomb. However, it doesn't really matter because no one is going to get hit by that attack anyway

I certainly hope that another third-party developer, or a wholly-owned subsidiary/division of Nintendo, takes over the Mario & Luigi RPG series. As a huge fan of said series, I strongly believe that it's in serious need of a revival/reboot. Just because AlphaDream is now just a memory, that doesn't mean that the Mario & Luigi RPG series should remain cancelled forever. If the Mario & Luigi RPG series receives a new developer, and a new home on Nintendo Switch, then one of these graphical styles should be used below.
1. Pre-rendered 2D sprites and backdrops, in the graphical style of the series' box art
2. 100% 3D models and backdrops, similar to the "Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening" remake on Nintendo Switch
I intentionally omitted the up-scaling of the 3DS graphical style, because for many people, said graphical style was far too generic and too stale for their liking nowadays.
