As someone who dislikes apple as a company, is a diehard android fanboy, and owns a quest 3, I disagree with this tbh. The vision pro is actually pretty cool. I’ve just started using a meta quest 2 and the immersed app and find that it’s difficult to read text or that it’s only easy to read text when it’s in the middle of the lens or in the “sweet spot”
Spatial video is so misleading. From what I gather , that's just 3D video, that you can record with the Quest 3. Look at VR 180 3D videos on RUclips with the Quest 3, that's better than what I see recorded with the AVP, that doesn't have the wide view. I have the Qoocam EGO 3D camera, so I can look at the "spatial video" I made with that, on the Q3. Hopefully there will be a good VR 180 3D consumer camera out soon, my money will be going on that, not the AVP.
When I heard the Apple announcement I was excited that they made a breakthrough in volumetric video compression. Real let down that spatial video is just their brand of stereoscopic 3D
You cannot record video with the quest 3. The difference with the AVP is the resolution. And eventually Apple will make it easy to edit spatially video. Try editing your qoocam 3d video or any other for that matter.
@@mikeyr5275What do you need 8k for? BTW to theoretically use 8k would have to have a better processor than it currently has, plus only very expensive TVs can do that
Thanks for this vid! It's what I've been telling everyone. If you think the AVP is revolutionary, it means you probably haven't tried other VR headsets. This stuff all exists. None of it is new or done so well it warrants spending $3000 more. Thing doesn't even have an internal battery. Even your laptop would survive a bit unplugged

Use natural curves, nothing too harsh,, do db amount to taste, but it can afford doing a heavy amount to it
its funny that you outed yourself as a sound engineer of sorts (mix engineer what have you) but also outed yourself that you are still wet being the ears. No blanket EQ curve is applicable to every kick drum. Also the sound you hear from an unmixed track being compressed though youtube is vastly different than what you would hear from a mixed and mastered track in an acoustically treated listening environment. At the end of the day, art is art.
6:05 kinda tells me all I need to know. If CNET hasn't sent him a Vision Pro to compare the experiences, how on earth can you honestly tell me the difference is or isn't worth it. In all other areas of my life having someone tell me "I've not tried the alternative but what I have is just as good" doesn't work for me.
This isn't a direct compare and contrast, it's just showing that "SpAtIaL cOmPuTiNg" (god, how many focus groups did Apple put that through?) isn't exclusive to Vision Pro. If you want reviews from complimentary headsets sent out you're only going to get them from the Apple approved influencers. At least for now those are the only people I've seen who were given advanced access to the device to have reviews ready on launch. Which, to me, is really suspicious.
@@Cinnamorollstanthat's not totally true. While I don't know the back story, but first of all, there are almost no experienced VR users that are also popular tech reviewers. While it's true that everyone that reviewing it saying how they loved VR and tested everything, that's not true most of the time. The only popular tech reviewer that I know of who used VR semiregularly is Linus Tech Tips. He never received his headset because of his relationship with Apple. and by the way, experienced VR users loving this thing. You can look up VR veterans review of the headset. Yeah most of them say that we are using VR for either VR gaming or social experience, both is almost non-existent in Apple's headset. But they also admit that VisionOS is top-notch and display-passthrough quality is on another level. Even the problems with comfort are kinda overblown by people who never wore a VR headset before longer than one hour.
I think that you don't need to worry about this device, you've probably never thought of VR before, and now hype've started, is it enough to justify it for you? If you're on the fence - just wait or give up on it or at least just try any friend's headset yourself

I know Word, PowerPoint and Excel is available in the Quest. Don’t use them myself since I prefer using Immersed to access all apps available on my computer instead. If you’re used to having 1-2 screens on your computer, imagine having 5-6 that you can resize and place in the air 🤩
Immersed with the Quest3 is the killer combo. Been using it for 3 months now. I spend 2-3 hours working this way everyday. RUclips VR is also a ton of fun. The other day I went paragliding over the great pyramids in full VR.
The only let down by using Quest 3 this way is the ppd is too low, Windows will look like 720p or lower depending on the scaling. If the Quest Pro had better displays and cameras the Vision Pro would have been moot. Still like that Apple entered the space even if I'm not personally a fan they tend to bring in more investment into a category.
They kinda had to go for higher resolution otherwise against the Quest 3 it would simply be DOA. But it's clear what that costs to implement displays like this in a stand alone headset is practically out of the consumer market price-wise
Shhhhhh they are trying to convince people it's the same as a the AVP and that it just works. Less people buying the AVP means more stock for the real nerds the ones that actually can and know what the device is.

Hmm, this wasn’t bad actually, surprisingly thorough. However, when discussing using a Mac with Immersed, you didn’t mention the fact that what it’s actually doing in this case is basically doing a screen recording via SharePlay. It has a lot of limitations on resolution and frame rate unless you pay for a higher tier, and further because its a screen recording you are transmitting everything you see on your screens over wifi and also to Immersed apps servers and so there is a risk when entering banking information or passwords, etc. It’s possible that this limitation is only for the iPhone/ipad streaming, but i was under the impression it worked that way for Mac as well. If thats the case it’s a bit dangerous and irresponsible to not mention these things. I’m not being a nanny, I’m pointing that this is a MAJOR security thing that should get discussed when doing stuff like this
ofc avp has better screen resolution, but on quest 3 i can: -i used to use immersed for "spatial computing" xd with my pc up to 5 screens, that u can scale and move even if i dont have that much in real life, i can create virtual ones and my pc detect it as a new screens -then i use fluid to do the same but only with my quest standalone, i can also leave screens arround my around my living room and they pin in the places i put them like the avp, one on my tv, another in my computer, another in the fridge, etc or surround myself with them, i think its up to 5 too that u can scale (+3 of the main menu), avp is up to 12 screens -for media i use bigscreen to watch movies in services or skybox if i want to watch 3d videos or images, (btw theres a ia owl3d for pc that turns normal images or videos into 3d, i was getting fun with that, the result its really nice in half-sbs format for quest) -spatial photos (the same that apple) will be on quest too, now its on beta

@@sharpvidtube Yes I agree 100%!
Yeah, the Quest 2 is cheaper, but if you want an actual mixed-reality experience, you're not gonna get it with the grainy black-and-white security-camera passthrough on the Q2. It might be OK if you plan to work fully immersed.
That's a Quest 3
@@Kayzef2003 He refers to the Quest 2 as an option in the video, without mentioning the substantial downside that I referenced.
For games, I prefer the black and white passthrough, its less distracting. I asked if they could add it to the Quest 3, still waiting for a response😂
@@sharpvidtube options/accessibility features are always nice to have, but I think many people prefer color, doubt they will add it anytime soon
I was saying the sameting you was saying so when I saw your video I instantly watched it I use my Macbook Pro through Virtual Desktop and also have immersed but i haven't set it up yet as I have Virtual Desktop and inhave multiple Music Production DAWs like Virtuoso which I use in Mixed Reality mode and Korg Gadget VR and I also have alot of Mixed Reality instruments like pianos guitars etc i play live into Logic Pro X
Sounds like fun!
Yeah, it's also $3000+ more.
I used Linux with immersed too. 3 virtual monitors.
how did u connect it to ur mac book it doesnt let me use my mac on it
Do the spatial videos you download to the Quest 3 play in 3D?
Amazing video, I've just got my meta quest 3 as a present from a friend, I had so many questions and you answer them all in a really objective video, incredible, thank you!!!
This was a great video, well done 👏
this is so far the best quest video I've seen.
What to do to make the environment so clear. I have meta quest 3 and the environment looks horrible
No mention of virtual desktop?
Great job with the video, helped a lot and my decision process
Spatial is another word for 6DOF
@@n9ne That has nothing to do with 3D video?
When I heard the Apple announcement I was excited that they made a breakthrough in volumetric video compression. Real let down that spatial video is just their brand of stereoscopic 3D
@@n9neApples spatial videos are misleading and not 6dof videos but only sidebyside 3d videos, not even 180° 3d videos.
You cannot record video with the quest 3. The difference with the AVP is the resolution. And eventually Apple will make it easy to edit spatially video. Try editing your qoocam 3d video or any other for that matter.
How can you put that title and compare them without having tried the Vision Pro?
Great video!
Not a bad overview! Would've been nice to point out some of the issues, e.g. you mentioned the RUclips app, which is capped at very poor quality.
Nope. There was update 2 weks ago. Now is perfectly sharp a new.
@ Oh nice, yeah that’s much better! I was able to play up to 4K. Maybe still no 8K? I’ll have to do a better check later.
@@mikeyr5275What do you need 8k for? BTW to theoretically use 8k would have to have a better processor than it currently has, plus only very expensive TVs can do that
The quest is missing 1 huge thing... The apple logo. To some people, that's the only thing that matters.
Being able to admit that apple does SOME things better as a predominantly android user, is maturing
@@jamesramsey2400 One thing they do better than anybody else is marketing. To make you feel important or elite because of a logo is brilliant.
If it is, I bet its cost will be at least $999.
On the kick drum in your mix at 3:20
Try boosting below 60hz, cutting between 80 and 2000k, reboosting between 2500 & 5200, then leaving it flat
The sample is very aggressive cardboard and we need some life for the kick and space in the mix for the rest of the instruments.
Apple didn't send any headsets out to anyone who has experience with VR. They're terrified of direct comparisons.
I like using the Fluid app with quest 3
So you have motion sicknes ?
the view with the outside is really limited tho
not really some times I forget my headest is on my head
i don’t think you tried vision pro yet
He said he never tried it. That shouldn't matter because he's doing a Quest video.
Well done 👍
So the way to go is to wait for the future quest 4 so that It will bring all the stuff the apple vision is now getting hyped for, for less of a quarter of the price.
That’s my plan 😂
Can you use Microsoft Excel, outlook, teams in here? Would love to be able to have multiple screens for Excel
You can log into a Microsoft account. I’m able to use Google Docs the same way I normally do.
@@CNET He asked about Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams. He didn't ask about Google Docs.
How was your yt vr experience? Last i checked it was lo-res. Fun but grainy. Maybe depends on the author source res?
The only let down by using Quest 3 this way is the ppd is too low, Windows will look like 720p or lower depending on the scaling. If the Quest Pro had better displays and cameras the Vision Pro would have been moot. Still like that Apple entered the space even if I'm not personally a fan they tend to bring in more investment into a category.
They kinda had to go for higher resolution otherwise against the Quest 3 it would simply be DOA. But it's clear what that costs to implement displays like this in a stand alone headset is practically out of the consumer market price-wise
Netflix is broken for me on the MQ3. App and browser doesn’t work.
Shhhhhh they are trying to convince people it's the same as a the AVP and that it just works. Less people buying the AVP means more stock for the real nerds the ones that actually can and know what the device is.
I do a lot of mix reality with the quest but nobody wanted to use the quest mix reality and monitors because of clarity
Monitors look clear to me. I had no issues seeing text or editing videos in pass through. You just gotta move the screen to a comfortable distance.
I prefer quest 3 as the best headset that is cheap and great
I suggest first using the AVP, then make this kind of video.
This was not a versus video. Just showing how you can enjoy spatial computing on the Quest 3 since that’s a new term we’re all coming to terms with.
How’s the video editing experience? I was hoping for multiple adobe premiere docks/windows open while editing.
It looked crisp and clean and the audio played through the headset. I didn’t try using multiple windows from Premiere but I’ll give it a go.
Very cool spacial computing looks like it can help with focus and productivity.
"Spatial Computing" is nothing new. It's just VR and AR.
Hmmm interesting , def might do this lol
I'm using immersed now to watch content on my laptop. Works pretty well. My keyboard is a logitec. In my other room I have two PC's of which one is on now and I can access that pc through remote desktop on my laptop and open a second window to see it's content. Unfortunately I can't use my keyboard with remote desktop on my second pc. Just need to use the virtual keyboard from that computer.
Maybe I have to get used to controlling it, but in any case, it is much more fun to not need to move my laptop every time I want to use it, but do it with the Quest.
6:05, oh my ghad. lmao
Never do that action while wearing a VR. 🤣
I'm personally really looking forward to more competition using 4k per eye displays. One product in the pipeline is Visor by Immersed!!
Wait? you can connect all your apple products to a Meta Quest 3?! whats the point of vision pro?! no doubt apple will try quash this soon enough
you get it.
How big can a screen be? I believe the Vision Pro can have a 100 foot screen and an infinite number of screens. How big and how many on the quest 3?
I can watch movies, do internet stuff in IMAX screen size on Quest 3.

Virtual desktop works to
Yes, but it’s not free.
They need to include spatial snapping in a new version. i want to be able to snap a window on a room and walk away and see other windows that i have snapped previously on other locations inside my house.
Would be cool I just don't think my work would allow me to download the app necessary for it to function
pensé que era una video sobre las implicaciones de salud y éticas del uso de apple vision pro
The difference of feel between Q3 and AVP is just like Nokia N8 and iPhone years ago
the Meta Quest 3. This VR headset can do the same things as the vision pro, but for Far less money. Why is everybody treating the Apple vision pro as a new milestone? it's been done already!
Naked hands as interface is a improvement like it was touchscreen in smartphones. I dont know why other brands doesnt implement it, there is open source code in OpenCV to do it.
The difference is that AVP’s visual fidelity is unmatched. Quest 3 feels like looking at 1080p whereas AVP feels like the sharpest 4k screen you’ve ever seen
Good video 👍🏾
Can I watch my HTC EVO 3D from 2012 videos as well? 😂
Yes, it seems spatial video is BS, it's just 3D video. The Quest 3 is OK for viewing that.
If meta updates pc oculus app so the dash can be passthrough now that it can be passed thru on pc and airlink, it would essentially be a windows avp
I’m not being a nanny, I’m pointing that this is a MAJOR security thing that should get discussed when doing stuff like this
ofc avp has better screen resolution, but on quest 3 i can:
-i used to use immersed for "spatial computing" xd with my pc up to 5 screens, that u can scale and move even if i dont have that much in real life, i can create virtual ones and my pc detect it as a new screens
-then i use fluid to do the same but only with my quest standalone, i can also leave screens arround my around my living room and they pin in the places i put them like the avp, one on my tv, another in my computer, another in the fridge, etc or surround myself with them, i think its up to 5 too that u can scale (+3 of the main menu), avp is up to 12 screens
-for media i use bigscreen to watch movies in services or skybox if i want to watch 3d videos or images,
(btw theres a ia owl3d for pc that turns normal images or videos into 3d, i was getting fun with that, the result its really nice in half-sbs format for quest)
-spatial photos (the same that apple) will be on quest too, now its on beta
Word is that Meta is taking notes on the Vision Pro feedback. Ironically, Apple makes the best headstrap for the Quest 3. Solo knit band on Quest 3 is hands down most comfortable headstrap for Quest 3.
So i got enuf points to get either a quest 3, rayban meta ai glasses, or a sony alpha mirrorless DSLR. And guess what im not excited about any one of them. I was with meta raybans but converted siri into siri Ai with my airbuds and im ok with that. I don't need gaming goggles. In fact i don't need goggles period. I'm not even certain i need spatial computing. It's like I'm trying to find a solution to problems that don't exist. Best case just find a sensible use case. The DSLR will be just another thing i have to lug around. My iPhone takes pretty good shots anyway. Honestly who needs more hardware. I'm stuck. Which one should i get?
Take your iPhone/camera on a trip with your points and make some memories.
I was just going to make this exact video as my first RUclips video....
Do it! I'm sure your take would be a little different. E.g. maybe you would show more realistic scenarios, or have put more time in.
Also you can open 3 apps on quest 3, he said the wrong thing
The Vision Pro is light years ahead of the Quest 3. It is not even close.
Lol.. How so?
@@ReptilianRichardRamirezWell for one the chip sets are not comparable since Quest uses a solid mobile chip set, but Apple Vision Pro has an M2 chip set. The Vision Pro has more power than my M1 iMac 😭😭
And yet, you can do more with the Quest 3!
the price isn't even close either XD
@@covertpuppytwo3857 that’s relative depending on what you’re after. Gaming wise I agree bc the Quest 3 is taking advantage of Meta’s gaming infrastructure which has been on the market for 5-6 years now. If you compare the AR functions and flow imma have to give it to the Vision Pro, the seamlessness of windows and apps with the addition of multitasking is eons ahead of the choppy quest 3 but the quest 3 is a solid vr headset! On a tech scale Vision Pro is a full on computer and the Quest is like a smart phone.
Virtual Desktop does everything you just explained without any of the limitations described in this video. Even better, it supports Apple MAC O/S
Exactly
It’s $19.99. I was showing off free apps. This video was about spatial computing without spending a fortune. 🥠
virtual desktop does even more in some aspect, on top of being very regularly updated and the developer really liste a lot to the community! If you are going for a quest 3 with the goal of saving up 3000$, I think it's only fair to mention a 20$ app that can pretty much do everything you need. :) maybe mention it next ;)@@CNET
But Virtual Desktop does not support multi-window viewing compared to Immersed and Meta Workroom Horizon app…that’s a dealbreaker for many
@@CNET You are already buying a $400-$500 VR headset and you worry about $19.99. Your logic is flawed. Not sure if you're still working at CNET but if I was the boss, you would be without a job right now.
And the quest 2 is amazing as well! An used one you can find for $100, I mean $100 dollar. This is crazy how people became so STUPID and STUPID when comes to technology. If a device that cost $100 does more than the a $3400 you must be out of your mind. I have tried both, the Apple Vision Pro and the Quest 2 ($100) and the Quest 2 had more tools like (Games and TONS of free Apps). And actually play PC VR games on it. And not cables attached. This is crazy! You are paying for the resolution, because after using the Apple Vision Pro I felt that my eyes would pop-out because I had to look what I need to click/activate vs you can do what I need and no need to look what you need to click on the Quest 2, plus you feel the feedback. Apple Vision Pro you pay over $3500 to click air with that cost of your eyes motions in witch I don't think it is normal and you may have later on eyes problems, where is the study that shows that you can keep moving your eyes like that? Will in the eyes muscles/tensions become larger like a bodybuilder? You know what I mean, Think like the astronauts, they still have to fake gravity so their body function, with Apple Vision Pro you are doing something un-natural to your eyes and hands.
Quest software version v62 coming in gradually starting this last february 7th bring the option to import spatial video from iphone to Quest! One more point for Quest ;)
My Quest 3 now has an option for Live Streaming which is pretty cool
I have a quest, the comparison is dumb. the quest software is nowhere near as good as apple's. you can't even easily load android apps on the quest. you can sort of make it work if you're very interested in the tech but the average person is not going to do any of this.
Will the quest three make me as nauseous as the original quest did, or have they gotten better?
Out of all the mice in the world that can connect to the Quest 3 why should anyone ever chose the Apple Magic Mouse - generally considered the worst mouse ever designed?

I’m a big Apple fan. However I meta quest and I can’t see myself paying what Apple wants for the Vision Pro. The Meta quest is good enough.
Using the vision pro is so much better tbh
The quality is not at the same level as AVP.
Sure, but itsnot even remotely close to a $3000 difference. That is insane.
Why would CNET get someone that hasn’t actually tried the Vision Pro to do this video though smh 🤦🏾♂️🤦🏾♂️🤦🏾♂️
Why does that matter when he's making a Quest video?
@@MobileDecay because he’s clearly comparing it to the Vision Pro maybe ?
@theeglobalcitizen He's not making a comparison of which one has better quality. He's simply showing people they can do the same things on the Quest platform. Which is great if you can't afford a vision pro and and want similar experiences. I demoed the Vision Pro and know how good the, displays, hand tracking, and passthrough is but this video is fine. If he came out and started telling you the Quest was better and he never tried it then I would understand your point but he didn't.
Not to mention that you can play actual games plus workout on the quest 3, and, quest 3 has SUPER RUMBLE!
Next time I'm sure meta will produce two version: Quest 4 for about $500, and Quest 4 Pro for about $999. The Quest 4 Pro will have the same resolution of the the Apple vison Pro. I will wait for the Quest 4 Pro (likely would ben for Christmas).
Or just get Samsung's. Will interface better with your Google ecosystem than Meta's will.
Yeah with no future os and software support, easy to break, missing stock parts after certain year, difficulties finding global official repair location, broken and laggy overtime
Thank you for this Video, i really Appreciate this, but i think you should compare them side by side, we all know there are things Apple Vision Pro does better than quest 3, but the Big question will be, IS THAT FUNCTION WORTH $3500?
Apple is the king of Presentation and also those RUclips influencers thats hype up device to get more views on their channel and deceive people to spend more when they don't really need to do so.
6:03 this part of the video says it all. A comparison video and he didn’t even try the device he’s comparing the Quest 3 to. How this video got past the editors is beyond me and I normally enjoy CNET tech uploads.
Who is looking forward to working in mixed reality? That's mind-blowing to me. Is that all you think about? Do you want to spend hours with a headset to do something you can already do without destroying your vision? Why?
