    Upon unboxing, I was immediately upset at how the rails were very noticeably bent. But I kept going, all tools needed to assemble were included ruclips.net/user/postUgkxqtX4Dxs6aecAZEuz6GY5-d81YecKCshn and I had it set up in about 30 minutes. Honestly I love this thing, make sure to read the measurements and measure your space so you know if it'll work for you. I bought this to put inside my closet, underneath where I hang my clothes and it is absolutely perfect! It is VERY sturdy and all drawers glide easily and mine are stuffed, and they are still flush when closed.

    An alternative to scaling the UVs is to plug the image textures into a mapping node, with which you can scale them, I've found that that's a little more procedural.

    Could you please create more tutorial for realistic organic objects like plants, food, animals and human? since there are very few channels do this kind of stuff. I think it will help alot of new blender users

    This is great and a big help thanks. I work in interior architecture design, usually with sketchup, but Blender looks great for more photorealism and I will be giving this a go.
    As someone pointed out though, you haven't allowed space for drawer runners. Drawers like this would be constructed with an additional front panel to conceal the runners. (This also allows furniture makers to use cheaper materials for the interior box as it isn't seen).
    Another thing I noticed was that the end grains of the wood (thin front faces) generally have the wood grain following the length.
    I think these two points would enhance the photorealism, but would probably only be noticeable up close in a scene. Great work thanks.

    That's the FIRST time I follow a tuto from start to end, even if it tooks me 3h to do so (so much personnal reason on it) ! :)

    One thing to point out in the vid is ur not applying the scale transform after scaling in object mode not doing this does make certain modifier like the solidify and bevel not be the correct scale and could also mess up at times

    • @RyanKingArt
      @RyanKingArt  4 года назад +1

      If you press the N, key, while in the 3d view, a side panel will pop up on the right. Click on the object you want the re-size, and you can see the dimensions on the right side panel. Then you can either scale the object, or change the values on the panel.
      Hope this helps,

    Great tutorial. Exactly what I was looking for. One issues I had, I was following along and I'm sure I hit something incorrect. I couldn't add the bevel modifier to the objects. I could however create another cube and add a modifier to that one. Any ideas?

    • @RyanKingArt
      @RyanKingArt  4 года назад

      Thanks for watching the tutorial! Hmm, I have no idea why you couldn't add the bevel modifier. Was it just not on the list of modifiers? Or was the option greyed out?

    • @FunAfter52
      @FunAfter52 4 года назад

      @@RyanKingArt It's kind of the story of my life. Weird stuff happens. I plan on doing the tutorial multiple times to get used to blender. In this case, all of the modifiers are present to choose. I click on bevel and nothing happens. the object doesn't seem to distort at all. but I could add a cube and do the same thing and it was fine. so I dunno. the main part of the tut I was looking for is the drawers and moving each one individually. I work with Daz studio a lot so trying out a lot of different things. At any rate, I will try and figure out what I did. Like I said. I'm used to weird stuff happening to me all the time. LOL. Thanks for your reply.

    • @RyanKingArt
      @RyanKingArt  4 года назад

      @@FunAfter52 No problem. Hope you get it figured out. There is one thing you could try....
      Select the object that you want to apply the bevel too. Then in object mode, Press, Control A. Then select, all transforms. Then try adding the bevel modifier on again.
      This might help, but I don't know for sure.

  • @hirudo3d
    @hirudo3d 4 года назад +1

    One really important step you forgot is checking "Harden Normal" in the Bevel Modifier, to fix the bend normals on the flat surfaces. Other than that, i wouldnt really call it realistic, since the drawers are just resting on each other, thats not how drawers work. Texturing can also be improved, at least by rotating the wood grain on the thin sides of the wood.

      @@RyanKingArt Blender is just one of those programs where you got to do it several times to see what you did wrong. I re-aligned objects to world center and that seemed to be a quick fix. It doesn't help creators like yourself when they update so many little things. So long as I'm getting the general idea, I'm golden. Btw great video- its my first real 3d asset!

    • @RyanKingArt
      @RyanKingArt  2 года назад +1

      Hmm, there is a setting in Blender that makes objects Un-Selectable. In Blender's outliner, its an icon of an arrow, next to the objects. It might be turned off. See if that's the problem. Hope this helps.

    Man I can't get the camera setup...I'm going to View > Align > Align Active Camera to View and the view just jumps to pointing away from my model
    edit: I figured it out. I (think) what happened was my object was set as the active camera, not the actual camera
