Linus (Matt Damon) messes up Danny's (George Clooney) coded conversation with Matsui (Robbie Coltrane).
FILM DESCRIPTION:
After pulling off the heist of their lives, Danny Ocean and his pals unexpectedly find themselves back in harness in this sequel to 2001's blockbuster hit Ocean's Eleven. After robbing a cool $160 million from the Bellaggio Hotel Casino and winning back his former wife, Tess (Julia Roberts), from Bellagio owner Terry Benedict (Andy Garcia), Danny Ocean (George Clooney) is living quietly on the lam in Connecticut when he's unexpectedly approached by Benedict. It seems Benedict has tracked down Danny and the ten men who helped him pull off the seemingly impossible robbery, and Benedict offers them a proposal -- if they can repay the $160 million in two weeks, he won't have them killed. As it turns out, both Danny and his best friend, Rusty Ryan (Brad Pitt), haven't been doing so well in terms of money management and could use some cash, so they set out to plan a robbery to recover the loot, with the same crew helping out -- Linus Caldwell (Matt Damon), Frank Catton (Bernie Mac), Basher Tarr (Don Cheadle), Saul Bloom (Carl Reiner), Reuben Tishkoff (Elliott Gould), Livingston Dell (Eddie Jemison), Yen (Shaobo Qin), Virgil Malloy (Casey Affleck), and his brother Turk (Scott Caan). Danny and Rusty discover that an incredibly rare Fabergé egg is being displayed at a museum in Rome which would fetch the price they need, but they soon discover a notorious cat burglar, François Toulour (Vincent Cassel), is also after the egg, and it turns into a race to see who can claim it first. Adding to the intrigue is Isabel Lahiri (Catherine Zeta-Jones), a woman Rusty used to be involved with who is now a top agent with Interpol and is after both Toulour and Ocean's crew. Shot on location in both the United States and Europe, Ocean's Twelve was, like its precursor, directed by the stylish Steven Soderbergh, who also photographed the picture under his nom de lens, Peter Andrews.

Basically, Daniel and Rusty where being jerks by playing a prank on Linus. Watch the end of the film as it is explained at the end. They weren't really coding their words so much as just saying gibberish to fool Linus. Its fucking hilarious.
That gibberish is actually an analogy for their theft plans.
‘Doctor who specializes in skin diseases’ is the millionaire recluse. Falling asleep and not remember his dream are their plans to rob him in the night.
‘If all animals along the equator were capable of flattery’, meaning that they’ll act a fake heist since they’re behind watched at all times. And for both holidays to land on the same day meaning as they win and get rewarded at the same time.

usty says "A doctor who specializes in skin diseases will dream he has fallen asleep in front of the television. Later he will wake up in front of the television, but not remember his dream."
Basically what he is saying to Matsui is that the most important part of the plan is to create the illusion that The Night Fox is in control- allow the night fox to 'Fall asleep in front of he TV' or in other words believe he is in control. To play his ego. Rusty knows that he is in contact with The Night Fox. Rusty has worked with Matsui before in the 'Bulgary case.' So he allows The Night Fox to steal the documents first.
Then Danny says "If all the animals along the equator were capable of flattery (if they were all able to maintain this illusion and make the Night Fox's ego take over) then thanksgiving and Halloween would fall on the same day"
(the thieves dressed in various costumes being arrested 'Halloween'='Thanksgiving' their exit strategy and their victory).
Then Matsui, who knows the Night Fox, agrees by saying "When I was four, I watched my mother kill a spider with a teacosey. Years later, I realised it was not a spider- it was my uncle Howard."
This is Matsui telling them that The Night Fox is thought to be in control. He is enemy #1 to the police and his ego has lost control. The Night Fox thinks he is the best out there. Now Matsui realizes that The Night Fox doesn't call his own shots. His skill is a reflection on what LeMorgue has taught him. (If they give LeMorgue what he wants (his daughter) then they will have their victory.) They know LeMorgue will help them because Telure has betrayed fellow theives due to his ego. Nobody breaks rule #1. So helping them is his apology. LeMorgue says in one of the last scenes that they will have to put on an elaborate show 'Halloween'. but he is "still getting the better" out of them. This brings me to his daughter.

+pelu101 They're not speaking in code. They're speaking total nonsense to make Linus think they ARE talking in code as a prank to see what he does.
+onetwothree257, Even though it's nonsense inside the story, the code still makes sense to watchers with special perspective like our friend Matthew here. Consider it foreshadowing from the director to these special watchers. I honestly think this is one of the most genius foreshadowing I've seen in my life, and I just discovered it through this comment.
From what I read about this certain scene and script, and from one scene in the movie, it was just a made up script as to mess with Linus since he wanted to be part of something more important, as you see in the aircraft scene. It is an interesting interpretation of that though. Maybe it was a subliminal message.

The plan was to have the Night Fox watch them and they still pull it off, what Rusty said, then if they play they cards right them being caught by the cops will be thier way out what Danny Said, then the whole time night fox will think his been beating them when infact they beating him what Matsui said. So with Linus he wasn't really pranked because he understood the purpose of the meeting and he master minded everything. The prank is on us more than it is on Linus
@@ndudangcobo154 How does it explain his reaction when meeting his mom? Lamar warm them about night fox. Matsui was just their guy for the Amsterdam job. They got compromised because Rusty had his phone stolen by Isabelle, it still implied how they pranked Linus but they also had to plan on fooling Isabelle because she had Rusty's phone. Since Rusty knows what Isabelle's goal, it was already implied that they plan on getting caught and have Linu's mom do the con job and forced Isablle to sign the permit having her back off to them completely and freeing them off the inter pol.
Matsui set up the Night Fox to think that they will steal the egg at the museum hence Danny saying Halloween and thanks giving will.fall on the same day. Linus Mom was running a sting operation in order to catch the Night Fox. Rusty had his phone pinched in order to return the Egg along with Isabel to Le Marc, because those are the two things Le Marc lost when Issabels Mom made him return the Egg and he couldn't meet his daughter. So whilst the Night Fox was watching the team the team was putting an elaborate show so that they would boost his ego. Hence Rusty making the analogy about the doctor

I think this scene can also depict the difficulties that one faces when entering a whole new world, with a very different style of communicating. As soon as I finished my studies and got into the workforce, I struggled a lot with this. It's like people were speaking another language, with so many subtleties, between-the-line-reading, business politics, etc. So I can understand perfectly how Linus feels and his struggle to understand the "lingo" and how things work in that world.
