I'm with Granddad being called a N-word for free my whole life if there's an opportunity to capitalize on it I'm taking it in a heartbeat, everyone else in this country does why not us? Also the Ann Coulter bit is VERY TRUE they're all actors they get paid to argue.
This episode is based on true events, like many other episodes
the s word is is a term that was used that made fun of african tribes because they carried spears to hunt and used them in battle. it's not really called the s word, they just said it in the boondocks to be funny, but it is an actual term that was used against us and our ancestors.
and i was shocked that this was based on an actual news story. i think i found out years later, but the actual news report is hilarious. lol
stuff like this really makes you think about how the words and who are able to use them and who can't has so much politics and technicalities and hypocrisies around it.
like we can say it but other races can't, or both versions of the words are seen as completely different, but still non black people can't say either. we still say the word even though we know the history of it and the variations of it.
but then it gets in some weird areas where we've seen people and celebrities lose their entire careers because they said the word for free either in the past or in the present and got cancelled for it, but in movies like django unchained, roots, and even in this episode, non black people literally get paid to say the word and it's seen as acceptable because it's considered entertainment or educational. it can get really confusing. lol
me personally i'm uncomfortable when non black people use it around me, but both depending on which version they use it's a different kind of discomfort. in school i had a friend say the "cool version" of the word near me and it was just a really cringy and awkward feeling. like the feeling you get when somebody tells you your fly is down or something is in your nose. but when i was a kid i was at the store with my mom and when we were pulling up these 2 dudes were walking out and while we were waiting for them to pass one of them told my mom "don't hit me hard er".
the feeling i sensed for that was completely different. i just sensed anger and hatred. from the dude that said it, and anger from my mom too because she was upset. i could tell that he was using the word with malicious intent. the feelings i had though were confusion, and a little fear i guess? because i didn't understand what was happening. but yeah, 2 different feelings. lol

I mean the thing with racial slur or any type of urban vocabulary is that you can't really police it... however how I feel about any word in general is the context it was used in as well as the intention. I've heard women refer to other women in their friend group as "bit*h" out of endearment. It also comes down to how you feel about being called a certain word. I personally don't feel a way if someone calls me a ninja out of respect or endearment, even if they aren't the same race as me. However I don't really associate with people who don't understand the sensitivity around using racial slurs so that's unlikely to happen in my circle.
Allona, you never heard of the S-word?! See I grew up in the NYC. You get a lot of word play as kids trying to insult each other and lot of these insults came from within the Black communities. Of course, being latino I was privileged to witness a plethora of these insults being tossed around. Even with a pass, I wouldn't personally use them but I definitely heard the S - words being used even the K name being use derogatorily. Did you grow up in the suburban/rural environment?

In my school district, they politicians kind of use the school funds as a piggy bank, short money for new roads? Well, they don't need books just dip into the school funds...
Well they legally can't do that in the United States unless they are getting over paid, depending on what grade and the students attendance an state, the government by law has to pay the school a certain amount per student, Its 16000$ per student for high schoolers in my state, they can't also spend money that's also already been given to them unless the school wanted to, also why would the government do that? The money they use to build our roads comes from taxes, money for schools also comes from taxes.

If you're horribly offended by non-threatening language, I don't consider you to be very intelligent. In terms of using slurs in terms of endearment I did know two old engineers (white and black) who had a couple of slurs for each other. You have no idea how much these two loved each other. We're talking quit a job I've had for decades because you fired the other love. Is it a good idea to use those words? No idea, but it's a bad idea to be offended by them as it just allows others to control your emotions.

So funny story...I was over at my girlfriend's house that I was dating at the time. She was too busy doing something on her computer, I forget what it was. So I pulled my phone out and started watching some videos. I understand the idea of not using the n word so other people stop, but if there’s plenty of people who know and understand why it shouldn’t be used, then it shouldn’t be used by them. Most people that argue for saying it are usually white people that already say it, or at least want to, or people who grew up around black people and think it’s okay to use. I do think black people should stop using it as much as we do. Shouldn’t be in every charting song or used(as much) in spaces with other cultures.
