For everyone who doesnt want to root their phone to be able to "uninstall" certain apps there is an app in the google play store that works almost as good as the uninstall its and app call package disabler and it works amazingly for disabling the unwanted apps so they dont run at all. This app also gives you the ability to use the gear vr with not only the oculus store but also the google cardboard or play store vr apps.

Just got mine today in the UK absoluterly love the S7 edge it is an amazing phone worth the upgrade from the S6 Edge for the screen size alone. Can't wait to get my hands on a Gear VR and give it a try! Probably get it by the end of the week.
+Shreesha Hebbar you can access your own content from your library inside the VR environment( you tube is included in the web browser). and the ecosystem is much better than when they started a few years back. is it worth $100 I say that depends on personal experience. I have used many VR solution including the HTC ViVE. this is not cardboard and they are building more apps and games for the gear vr. I say its worth it for it and they did a good job on the upgrade from the first gen.
Extremely frustrated pre-ordered 2 on March 6, 2016 from T-Mobile and they have not shipped yet... I have talked to different reps some say it will ship by the 12th others said there could be a 10-14 day delay. I am also curious how this effect the VR and Netflix promos. Not very happy that I could walk into a store tomorrow and pick up a phone but I pre-ordered and have to wait. I am sure T-Mobile reps are stressed and frustrated but when you spend almost 1600$ on two phones they could make sure they have them in stock and deliver on time. As bad as I want to just cancel everything and go back and live with my S3 (Yup my S3 is still running strong) I just cannot do it. Who knows maybe tomorrow I will get a pleasant surprise in the mail?

How the s7 edge fov in the gear vr compared to note 5? Is a big enough difference to get the note 5 or s 6edge plus instead? i use the original s6 in the gear vr at bestbuy and it was noticeably smaller fov compared to the note 4
+slayer768 works great, better then the note 5, I get longer game time and overall its only .2 inches smaller than the note and you will not notice that. the S6 has a much bigger difference.
Wow I was really surprised by the camera quality. Also it is really nice that it has a USB 2.0 adapter. I still have my Galaxy S6 I guess it's time I upgrade lol.

But hey, they have great promo and money to back it up, just like Beats, it's the reality, whoever gets the most exposure is more likely to succeed. But personally I check out several videos of the same product, it's just the smart thing to do. Find the commonalities between each video, and draw our own conclusions. I totally agree with you with providing raw images to compare, people rely so much on HDR jpg's when really more can be achieved by developing a raw. I think reviewers should also conduct a lil more scientific tests, such as OIS, not just in video but to see how low of a shutter speed one can attain while shooting, while at the same time provide proper settings such as wb, shutter speed, aperture *that's a given since it's locked* and ISO. I get too technical at times. sorry for the rambling.

Hey Tk, I have a question. How is the VR experience with the s7 edge. I did the pre-order, and i have my phone now, and the Gear VR is coming. But now I read somewhere that there was some distracting light coming in because of the round edges. Is that true? Or is there maybe some distortion? Do you see differences with the previous bigger phones? I'm kinda worried if I made the right choice with the edge
+mrSlampamper I have played with the GS7 edge on the gear VR for hours and if have a bright light behind phone in front of you , you might see a little light, but honestly when you play VR games you will be moving and its so immersive that you will not notice it anymore either by moving around or you focus in the game. I like it.
Are there any SDE (screen door effects) on the Gear VR when using it with the S7 Edge compared to a S6/S7? That you really notice and might annoy you, I mean. I need to make a decision in a couple of days to be sure to get the pre-order Gear VR kit but I might have to settle for the non edgy S7 if it's very noticeable.

I'm talking about SDE, where you barely(?) notice/gets annoyed by being able to spot the grid of pixels. It all depends on many factors of course, such as pixel density and pixel fill. Hey TK, will you be rooting the galaxy s7 edge in the upcoming weeks? I own the s6 edge plus, it's rooted and running xposed and that's the only thing that keeps me from upgrading to the s7 edge, can't have a phone as my daily driver without root and Xposed Framework.

While I still have the note 5 and s7 with with. I say that the extra battery and SD card makes the upgrade worth it. The ip68 and thin deign is what takes this device over the top. The note 6 will have these upgrades in it, if you cannot wait the s7 is the phone right now.

I will say they both have a lot to offer. The camera and the Qualcomm cpu is the reason for me to go s7 edge route. If you are coming from a previous note like device, you will need to adjust to a smaller device.
So you got it early plus you got your gear VR? I ordered my S7 edge yesterday, I had to go to the samsung site and fill out a form, upload my receipt and then I Was told they would *TRY* to ship it / deliver it in 8 weeks. 8 fucking weeks. The sad part is I am most excited about the gear VR after I've seen some vids/impressions. I basically get a free oculus, it won't have all the same capabilities but it will allow me to watch movies, with an even better screen than the oculus it self etc.

When I got the phone I put an otterbox commuter case on it after seeing your review I think I will have a problem using the Samsung gear on it. Let me know if you come cross any other VR Gear for it. TK, great job with the unboxings... My biggest question is, as an owner of a Note 4 and the "Innovator edition" Gear VR is OVERHEATING... I cannot use my Note 4 and Gear VR for more than about 15 or 20 minutes before I start getting "Overheating Warnings"..... Device must shut down... Actually, The Note5 is 7.6mm thin & S7Edge is 7.7mm. The S7Edge is both narrower & shorter than the Note5, How the hell did they fit that extra battery, Magic !!!
the biggest problem so far is space the the Samsung galaxy s 7 version in america is 32 Gb AND 8 Gb is already taken from the start but when you add the vr it sucks it all up ive moved all videos to my 200 Gb sd card but all the vr apps cant be moved to sd card so now i have to take a app off to add a new app on vr this sucks
Samsung Galaxy s 7 American version don't offer it plus I heard the micro SD card are slower the internal that's why they didn't offer it is have a 200 GB Micro SD card but all I put on it is videos and music and pictures and apps that are able to be moved but vr apps can't be moved I think for better performance
+Anthony h there is a process walkthrough online that enables adaptive storage on the US version of the S7 and S7 Edge but I agree with you that SD storage is not as fast
Thanks. I'm loving the S7E. It's super duper slippery however! Do you recommend a skin or case to go with it? I'm totally not in love with the idea of extra bulk, but I'm afraid this thing will break even with the smallest jolt.

I would recommend a slim design case at the very least like these ruclips.net/video/XhHDsVq_EFk/видео.html these will give some protection, the glass on the camera lens can break fast. so a skin would not protect it but it will give you the fix for the slippery design.

Yea I'd have to root and remove facebook entirely. I refuse to give an app that many permissions. I always just use the mobile version within google chrome. Sad it's a sealed phone still. The g5 looks awesome. I'm still on the s4. Always disliked how samsung colored my pulled down menu blue in lollipop and now it's white on your phone. Xposed to the rescue. I made mine clear with purple logos and text on the quick tiles 😈 no custom rom for me with a locked down bootloader. But xposed suffices

There are 2 gear vr units one for the note for one for the S sixes and one for the S sevens
I used this unit with the note 5 and the s7 edge. Worked great. The one for the note 4 would not work.

your S7 is different from mine. Mine doesn't say Galaxy S7 Edge on the back, and my headphones didnt come in a box.

Unfortunately the connector for the note 4 will not work with it. The earliest device that it will work with is the s6.

It is worth it. Just remember you cannot charge the phone with it. So usage will be limited by battery life. But a good experience.

the biggest problem so far is space the the Samsung galaxy s 7 version in america is 32 Gb AND 8 Gb is already taken from the start but when you add the vr it sucks it all up ive moved all videos to my 200 Gb sd card but all the vr apps cant be moved to sd card so now i have to take a app off to add a new app on vr this sucks

Samsung Galaxy s 7 American version don't offer it plus I heard the micro SD card are slower the internal that's why they didn't offer it is have a 200 GB Micro SD card but all I put on it is videos and music and pictures and apps that are able to be moved but vr apps can't be moved I think for better performance
+Anthony h there is a process walkthrough online that enables adaptive storage on the US version of the S7 and S7 Edge but I agree with you that SD storage is not as fast

Thanks. I'm loving the S7E. It's super duper slippery however! Do you recommend a skin or case to go with it? I'm totally not in love with the idea of extra bulk, but I'm afraid this thing will break even with the smallest jolt.
+lostmoon77 so based on the fact that two of my friends dropped the S7 and S7edge. I would recommend a slim design case at the very least like these ruclips.net/video/XhHDsVq_EFk/видео.html these will give some protection, the glass on the camera lens can break fast. so a skin would not protect it but it will give you the fix for the slippery design.

+mohsin syed Honestly I would say that I missed how the note 5 feels in the hand. that said expandable storage and better camera and ip68 makes this a must upgrade to device.IMO so yes I would say do the upgrade you will like the new features

+Adib Rifai Hard tell you really but if its compatible with all of last years devices and the ones we have thus far, I would say yes. the connector is the big issue, if they keep micro usb then should be ok.

Yea I'd have to root and remove facebook entirely. I refuse to give an app that many permissions. I always just use the mobile version within google chrome. Sad it's a sealed phone still. The g5 looks awesome. I'm still on the s4. Always disliked how samsung colored my pulled down menu blue in lollipop and now it's white on your phone. Xposed to the rescue. I made mine clear with purple logos and text on the quick tiles 😈 no custom rom for me with a locked down bootloader. But xposed suffices

The s7 works better with it, the note 5 heated up as well. But when you get it for free...
