Gros Morne, Fogo Island, Bonavista, Dildo, Ferryland, St. John's... these are some of the names that come to mind when people think about tourism in Newfoundland. My belief is that King's Point in Green Bay (North Central Newfoundland) will become as common a destination for road-trippers as any of the other towns on the list within a few years from now. It is an absolutely tranquil place.

My beautiful home town. King’s Point is one of the most beautiful places and I was blessed to grow up there.
You sure are lucky to call King's Point your hometown ☺️
@@mark_royle_newfoundland absolutely. Seeing your video sure makes me miss it.
If we only had the bullet trains like Japan. I live in Stephenville and whenever I have to go to St. Johns I'm usually mentally done when i reach "scenic greenbay". Not to mention theres nothing scenic about that part on the highway. We've always wanted to explore the small towns off the beaten trail but with gas being just under $2/L its getting pretty costly to get around.
My brother complains everytime about the drive from Port aux Basques to St. John's, about how you drive 3 to 4 hours north to go east. He would like a direct route. The interior around Gaff Topsail is not very useful outside of recreation. ATV, hunting, fishing and camping. There are a few communities on the south shore that have no cars or roads, relying on the ferry for supplies. Newfoundland has no as the crow flies way to get around. Moreton's Harbour to Twillingate, 10 minutes by sea, 45 by car. Just put on some Supertramp and take the long way home.
Maybe things will make more sense some day. The fact there was no cross-province highway at all until 1965 starts to explain why things are the way they are today, but a road from Goobies to Port aux Basques makes even more sense than one connecting King's point to Burlington (and onward to La Scie).
Wow, that's insanely pretty, wish I could live there.
Not for long if you were there.
Your brother taught at the school during my last year there. Very nice and great teacher, too bad hes a liverpool fan.
That you Skyler?
Also, think of the direct benefits that connecting these three isolated places would mean for the communities themselves. Gone is that sense of isolation, replaced by all these opportunities to share resources and skills rather than having to go at it alone. Best long term investment any government could do.
Yes great point. I’m thinking about it from a tourism perspective but the overall benefit would be so much bigger than just additional tourism.
👍
