Hey, #EarlySquad! Hope you have fun creating the beautiful Stockinette Knit Stitch Pattern after you learn how to PURL. And, yes, you're getting fancy, now!
I have been trying to get back into knitting since I burned myself out years ago making scarves for all of my wife’s bridesmaids. These videos are such a fantastic slow-walk through techniques I have since forgotten. Thank you!!!!
I'm really enjoying this series of videos. I taught myself in one night how to knit. My late mother was an awesome knitter but never managed to get me hooked when I was younger. I'm making a snood in chunky wool 😊.
So wonderful to hear, Karen. I'm honored to step in to help you continue knitting. I know from experience that knitting again will help you feel close to her.
Well damn !!!! I’ve watched soooooo many videos on purling and FINALLY I get it !!! 🤷🏼♀️🤷🏼♀️ I LOVE YOU !!! I’m so happy. Now.... hope I find one that shows in slow mo like you do of BINDING OFF. !!! You are my “go to” from now on. I do continental and I been crocheting for over 50 years. NOW I CAN KNIT ( a little). Lol. Ty so much 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰
Thanks For your well explained clear teaching. I am new to knitting but i am very clever at crochet. Now i like to learn knitting also. So please send your lessons as they are ver clear.. May god bless you.
Thank you so much for such a fantastic video on this stitch! I’ve been trying to learn to knit via videos and a book and just couldn’t get this stitch right and your video shows it so much more clearly and you explain it so well and slowly.
THANK YOU SO MCH!!!!I had been through a few videos and was about to give up when I found yours. It's so easy to understand and follow. Your voice is kind, calming and understandable. I am now a new follower and so I can't wait to learn more, I'm 48 and I gotta tell you when I Purled the first three and I was as excited as a young girl! God Bless and Thanks again
I DID IT!!!! This might not seem so exciting but I've learned knitting when I was 10 and I never got the purl stitch right. I'm now 19 and thought it might be fun if i started again and thanks to this video I finally did it!!!
So glad I found this video. I am brand new to knitting and got the knit stitch down. I learned purling today. I was getting confused because I thought purling only would make the stockinette pattern. I didn't realize you had to do every other row. (I didn't even know it was called Stockinette, that's how new I am). Thanks for the help!!!
😭 you're so kind because always explained everything very detail and practice it very slowly. 😍 Thank you so much. It's fun to watch all of your knitting tutorial videos. 👋😊 send a lot of heart from Indonesia~ 😘 (I'm sorry because my English isn't fluently 😅)
I just want to tell you thank you so much for you videos! They made my day.. I’ve been teaching my self how to knit and me and my boyfriend are going to college soon and I want to make us a blanket for school and your videos have taught me everything I needed to know.. so thank you.. your videos have helped a girl with extreme anxiety learn a great coping mechanism and made.. really helped thank you
Thank you for these videos. My mom recently passed and I inherited a bunch of her half finished knitting projects. I hope to finish them. But, I crochet. I hope your videos will help. Will keep you posted.
I am enjoying your videos so much and I can see that you have help and encourage a lot of newbies too! Congratulations to everyone and keep up with the series and before you know it you will be able to create a lot of fun knitting projects. Good luck to everyone =)
You're welcome! Would you mind telling me what kind of yarn you're using and the size needles? I apologize if you told us and I missed it! Thank you so much.
Thank you very much for this video. I learned how to knit recently here on yotube since was initially a crochter and I found purling a little bit difficult but with your video, I have seen the trick which makes purling a bit different from knitting. 👍
Fantastic! That's amazing that every other row of knit and purl creates a stockinette stitch. I like it! If rows of knit stitches is called Garter Stitch, is there a different name used for rows of purl stitches. Thanks Kristen!
Thanks Barbara! Purling every single row also creates the Garter Stitch. Most people prefer the Knit Stitch, so it's not common to Purl every single stitch... but go for it, if you're so inclined, ha!
What happens if you wrap the yarn the other way? Like you start with the yarn to the front but wrap it down and to the right instead of up and to the left? Because I think that's what I've been doing.
Hello! Thank you so much for posting all of your how to's. I just pick up some needles yesterday and started watching all of your videos...LOVE THEM. How I got into doing this, my mom makes newborn hats for the local hospitals and ask me if I could make some. Any chance you can turtioral a very beginner baby hat, maybe with straight needles? I did however watch the strawberry hat, which I started to to but did not come out at all... lol. How do you go back and fix the mistakes on the round needles? Thank you again!
Hey love all your vids ( and i have watched every single one ) when purling can you purl clock wise or does it have to be anti clock wise?. Keep up the great work XOX
I have watched quite a few "beginner knit" videos. Most of them are very good. But your ones show, in much better detail, how to hold the needles and work.
So, I have a question about the purl stitch. I have never seen a knit thing made up of only purl stitches. Are purl stitches only to be used in combination with the knit stitch, or can you knit something entirely purled? Sidenote, I am new to knitting, but I have been watching youtube videos, so could it just be the tutorials I watch don't use purl stitches that way?
Where did you get your wooden needles in this video?? I've looked at the bamboo "clover brand" you can get them at Michael's abs JoAnn fabrics and they look super cheap and flimsy. I'd love a good sturdy pair of wooden ones. Thanks! Love your channel btw xo
Exactly! Purling every single row also creates the Garter Stitch. Most people prefer the Knit Stitch, so it's not common to Purl every single stitch... but go for it, if you're so inclined, ha!
Ah...the purl stitch. The first stitch is always the hardest when the yarn doesn't want to cooperate. But you new people do not fear, you are in control and soon you will be knitting stockinet like a pro!
Hey, #EarlySquad! Hope you have fun creating the beautiful Stockinette Knit Stitch Pattern after you learn how to PURL. And, yes, you're getting fancy, now!
I was having a blast purling, until I was supposed to switch back to knitting....where do I put my needle again to go from purl to knit?

What is type and brand of yarn is that? It looks soft and comfy!
Thanks again.

Hey Kristen! Sometimes when i knit purl, the wrong side of a row will show up on the right side of my work. Do you know how to prevent that?
Pearl or purl !! No matter how you say it, it's so fun !!!!
Ha, you are my Purling Cheerleader!
I've got the hang of the stitches but my left side of my swatch doesn't look as even or as tidy as my left side. What am I doing wrong?
Hey love all your vids ( and i have watched every single one ) when purling can you purl clock wise or does it have to be anti clock wise?.
Keep up the great work XOX

Ah...the purl stitch. The first stitch is always the hardest when the yarn doesn't want to cooperate. But you new people do not fear, you are in control and soon you will be knitting stockinet like a pro!
