Thanks for the video,looks a well organised operation, but must be so boring for the workers. I once worked in a machine shop for 6 months turning out the same item for 8 hours a day, so I can empathise with these guys. I ride a Bafang powered bike, so nice to see how it was made.
I know it is not smart to compare but their production line is not as automated as most of European factories. Still looks for very neat job they are performing.
A factory like that often have a goal for maybe 40 000 to 50 000 units per month, so they need to make around 1500 units per day and each worker need to 50 tasks every hour, but as we see in this video many workers sit still and just wait, it is a clear indication that they stopped production for the filmteam. This is nothing bad, it just so that folk do not want to see (and know) that cheaper products demand harder work, Bafang is not a bad company, they are just filling the demand of the market, and the market are we that want a e-bike and a e-bike that are cheap.
That factory look a bit strange, it is like 10 workers on a band, each worker is only doing like one thing, but all are so slow that it look like they never done that before. When I worked on a similar band we often took a handful of screws that was inserted into 10 to 20 products, then we use the screwdriver to fasten all, then we pushed them onto the band that always was full. But then we see the "testing room" that is almost empty, only one man there that slowly test each motor, and when they come to the "packing" the band has been stopped. I get the feeling that the production speed have been halted for the film crew so it shall not look stressful and noisy, and I guess folk that work on a assembly line in Europe or in America know that you get rather fast after a month, and the factory I worked on had a daily quote and if we did reach it faster we could go home earlier or keep work full time and get a bit extra, so it was always full speed, loud and folk yelling "FILL!" when the shelfs behind us started to get empty.
They do 100% electrical Testing. I know for sure not even Bosch does that, neither does Shimano. They need to hire a better Designer though and they will be world leader.
Bafang please update your technology! Honestly I love your work but you're stagnating,! and please please dont forget about DIY..the bbshd is the best but is soooooo outdated now, we want a middrive that can fit a modern geometry bike with a long low triangle. The BBSXX series are only good for older style bikes with straight up tubes,no body rides those anymore!! Torque sensing is important dont forget about the bbshd!! Its what made you famous please update

Bafang over the last 3 years have been asked time and time again to please update the BBSXX series with no luck many bafang dealerships I know have tried to convince them. Bafang They want to focus on less powerful prebuilt plugins that's where the money is they say, well that's ashame. The BBSXX series is awesome it just needs updating,the only thing they have updated is the programming and that change was not for the better but made the whole system less attractive the new pas programming sucks, its pas related throttle is a nightmare in off road riding conditions bafang please bring back the separate modes!. Everyone hates it . DIY can still be better than any prebuilt bike why? Because you can choose the bike of your choice you can choose the best mtbs out, not limited to prebuilt no name Chinese frames with hardly any power. We are about to see a transformation in DIY ebikes the cyc x1 pro is coming,a 3000w middrive that can fit any bike not just cheap or older model bikes like the bafang bbxxx . It's going to be priced around the same but built to a much higher level of craftsmanship. If bafang want to stay in the DIY market they better act quicker.
