I am constantly amazed at how BR starts, live, with some fairly basic elements and ends up making me want to turn on a strobe light in the middle of the day. Total banger, no sequencer, just BPM sync’d arpeggiator and the trusty E. Rytm Mk2. Brilliant tweaking. Can’t wait to revisit mine now.
That hydrasynth is cool and doing all the work aside from a little knob turning.
Yeah thats exactly what im noticing
I love that you don't try to sound like anyone else.
Thanks Ed!
genres aside, i've been considering getting one of these and this is the first video i've come across with someone demonstrating sounds i would actually make & use. this channel has been recommended to me before for gear & sounds i'm into, so i was glad to see this video pop up when looking at the hydrasynth because i knew it would be something unique & relevant.
Ahhh a video that really shows the sonic character of the Hydrasynth, pushed into so many different directions! Good to hear it not try to sound like a CS-80 Sci Fi! You're killin' it! 🔥
Agreed! Nice to see somebody JUST MAKING SOME MUSIC with it!
This thing is amazing for psytrance, movie/game soundtrack scapes, apocalyptic industrial etc.
But it can play really nice too. Quite amazing how broad the brush it strokes with.
I just got an Explorer yesterday...love it already.
And thanx to your GREAT demonstration of the Technics WSA-1 I realized what an amazing synth it is, thank god I saw ur video before I sold it!
Bro I JUST talked myself out of buying one now you do this shit to me
A synth so nice, i bought it twice! Thanks for the video!
cool! how do you use two of them? just as a separate synths or do you connect them with midi or CV?
Yes!
More Hydra Videos please!!!
Best bang for buck! It's a super fun and powerful synth. Also very intuitive interface. The macro controls are also super handy. It is a future classic piece of gear!
As always killing it with your demos! 👍
Thank you for this one 🖤 now finally I understand what this synth is designed for 🚀
wow that was totally awesome, makes me want to go out and buy one that synth is totally amazing, thanks for sharing it with us.
Inspiring stuff man! I actually picked up a korg Radius a week ago and am trying to justify keeping it after hearing the hydrasynth cause I know I'll be getting one
Your demos are so awesome and musical :) not plonks and filter sweeps, not talking about features, but making great crazy industrial/noise/techno on the spot. Makes me really want to get a Hydra…
"Can it get fucked up?" 😃👍
these jams go so hard. hydrasynth sounding great
sheer masterful brilliance. subscribed dude keep posting!
not many good demos out there. tired of late demos.....this one CRUSHES. nicely done. love it. no blade runner shit ha ha ha.
And ZERO BORING f***ing Ambient B***sh*t
@@AcidTechnoMan5000 the main reason I got this digital synth was to do ambient dystopic and everything else but didn't get it to do your acid trip rave stuff like that no, I got a Behringer Poly D and TD3 acid smile face for that stuff and I think it did pretty great for that but I got this hydrasynth digital explorer for everything the Behringer can't do like lay in bed and make tunes with an effects unit built in but it would be great to have a sequencer. Even Behringer knows to put a sequencer in the poly D but that Fulkerson is heavy !
The point is get digital to do eventually everything and get classics analog gear to make classic analog acid or what ever else the classic analog gear does as it's classic for a reason !
Damn cool sound exploration here
That thing comes from another galaxy! Just go my Explorer last july... its a beast! Great video bro!
Fuck that was trippy, thanks! Also, wowee, nice for you joining the Hydrasynth cul… oh, I mean, club! 😅 cEvin Key, Chris Vrenna, Jordan Rudess… I love mine, a current and future classic for sure. 🥰
Really didn't think you would like it. I'm surprised!!!
dope videos man! I'm really enjoying your content. I love your practical approach In these demos
Glad I found you on here man. Your videos are dope
Hydrasynth forever❤
Man! Always bringing the heat! Masterclass of going nuts!
WOW! What a beast. I like your approach to teckle the features way beyond the boooooring "just another Techno Dub Jam" that other channels do. Seems that this machine is going to be my next synth. MAS 2008 hears you!
Yesterday I watched your video about the Piston Honda. If you compare it with the Hydra, which instrument is more powerful? Which instrument would you prefer?
if you had to decide between an access virus ti2 and a hydrasynth - which one would you go for?
From the two BR reviews Id go with Virus
Damn man. My bank account hates your channel while my creativity loves it. Thanks for doing what you do
Finally a review that doesn’t break down into smooth jazz.
Gnarly review. Loved it. My HS desktop is on the way.
There is no demo for this synth that’s valuable as this one!
Hold down the random button and then bang the button over the oscillator choice. Fun!
'random' + control button works in/on lots of elements. You can also use 'init' + control.
Vibed so hard it ended up in my cart. I’d love to see a follow up. I think it’s worthy!
Good stuff! Thanks for sharing.
31:45 - that's some amazing 3D effect !!!
I needed to see something like this. kudos
Ha ha ha you weren't joking when you said this thing can get fucked up!
Love it!
When you go “Ooo yeah!” we know you hit the spot.
It’s a love hate relationship for me but it stays because it’s got a vibe and it already paid for itself. 👽
Holy shit this is a fantastic video. Going HAM with gnarly & noisy sounds. Hell yeah!
Very nice!! Had the Hydrasynth, but sold it for digital eurocrack modules. Hydrasynth is definitely a modern classic!
Been wait for you to get your hands on one of these!
Can it accomplish the same quality of grungy detune tone that you like in Piston Honda and Microwave XT?
OK, that thing is insane. sooooo , does it give you more or the same vs the modular set up you have?. the question is, if you only had 2 machines, which 2 out of all your synths and drum machines. Lately I've been doing just 2 machines Jams , and it seems to work better than trying to run 4 or 5 machines.
What? No blade runner pads? Seriously though, thanks for getting the point, good demo.
Does it make sense to get one if i already have a Iridium? (I see you have a Quantum)
the moment i touched one i thought they made it for me..
I’m going with the peak. Warm analog sounds.
the analog modelling on the hydra is pretty great but it can be whatever you want, proudly digital like in this video or it can sound like a sweet vintage analog with poly aftertouch
Quite the noise maker.
Been on the fence a long time with the Hydrasynth but you may have just pushed me off ;)
Just sounds so brutal (ly good). In your hands anyway.
I know how nice and lovely it can sound too, I have the keys version and its range it so very broad. It can also like ass...part of having access to such freedom!
What is hard synch and whats it used for
Are the cymbals from the RYTM and do you remember if those are stock or samples you put in it? Im on the hunt for cymbals that offer variations in hits and high quality. Debating on having a bank of cymbal hits on a 4ms sts, but if the rytm has that inside, Id also love a drum machine with versatility and quality. And Im mixing these drums/cymbals with various wavetable and fm sounds.
which synth/drum machine would be your personal recommendation to a beginner getting into hardware?
Ooohhhfff = that's the spot
Love u man 😘 word up
Is that a nord modular in the back?
That filter @ 13:40 sounds sick.
How are the encoders on this Synth. Have you noticed any unwanted Skipping on any of the Knobs when using with the Screen?
They are probably the best I've used and I've owned many digital synths over the past 20 years! :)
After that demo I sure hope they gave you one for free!
Cool hair dye, cool glasse.
I cannot help it but I do not like the Hydrasynth's sound. Just a matter of taste, it surely is a very good synth.
Just caos!
Seems tailor made for industrial... I've been resisting this synth since it came out... Not anymore.
we eskimo brothers now cuz. Its gas to see you go through the wonder that i did when i got blessed by the hydra
virus ti or hydrasynth?
Hydra!
it actually shines in this aggressive context, but it has a very strange tonal palette, not warm at all compared to the Argon8 or Waldorf XT... but interesting harsh tones to be found. I wish they had made the filters a bit more analog sounding though.
It's as warm as you program it to be
it's gets very warm tho if that's what you want the analog modelling is excellent
dont you boomers have enough earwax to have any digital synth sound like its underwater and analog?
@@fart4192 how do you know how old he is?...but anyway maybe 'boomers' learned good personal hygiene so their ear training and sound design skills are intact and they don't need sample packs to make music...you should try it sometime
You wouldn't have thought so by 99.9% of other vids on RUclips. It was this vid that sold me on it and boy am I happy! I love noise :)
Why this and not modwave?
ill take your G1 in the back, as youre not using it. 👍🏾
You can pry it from my cold dead hands
@@blush_response hahaha
Wtfwt
ASM needs to realize their bot traffic on every review/website ends up backfiring. I refuse to do business with companies that employ them.
Oh yeah. Another software synth in a box. The Waldorf Iridium is same but so much more. I think my Moog Matriarch is just a better synth.
@@group-music Maybe if you are comparing synths and not software in a box.
@@VinylWave11 such a hot and dangerous take in 2022: only analog hardware are real synths. ballsy, you’re the Zelensky of synths
@@dirthawk I have many VSTs which on the right computer with a great controller provides very close to the same as a digital synth. The Moog Matriarch is such an anomaly of a synth with its semi modular patching workflow. For my sounds and the process of sound design and manipulation I find it to be immediate and refreshing.
I had an iridium keyboard version ordered and was going to be able to have received it this week…I cancelled it because i just was uncertain about paying for a VST in a box for almost $5000. I probably would have went ahead with the order for closer to $2000 price point. It is hard for me to justify expensive digital synths.
I am not really an analog only producer….but the sound of modular and semi modular is very appealing. Yet I do still use other digital, mostly drum machines, samplers and VSTs along side these sounds.
If this was a VST in a box, it would have a big LCD screen and a keyboard and mouse used to drag virtual sliders/knobs and select patches.. VST in box is such a tired argument.. it's a digital synth with a dedicated very well thought out hardware interface which enables a much more immediate work flow, easy live interaction, and is not prone to requiring a OS update when you switch it on or software incompatibility a few years down the line (+ it will have resale value 20 years + from now). What you pay when buying a synth like this is custom hardware - and also CV in/out MIDI in out (you can directly interface this to other MIDI devices or audio outboard gear - not something all VSTs can do). Moog Matriarch I'm sure is wonderful, but could be frustrating for some too.. personally I like patch recall even for analog synths. I would argue modular patching is actually better suited to the VST world.. more flexible, more voices, instant patch recall and no mess of wires everywhere (and way cheaper). Waldorf Iridium looks really nice, but there is a huge price difference (and I've heard some reliability issues with it). For a VST in a box (i.e.. in your PC) with modular patching and multiple layers of patches (+ MPE support) I developed Hyperion synth - check it out.
We get it, you also smell your own farts out of a wine glass. Analog sucks.
Only distorted arps. Sorry, ridiculously limited use of the hydrasynth.
No matter what button or control you change, it always sounds the same, the garbage noise that comes out of there, poop.
This is not a review. I regret I came here. My bad. I'm leaving now. Sorry.
Wish I saw this 7 months ago or whatever. I would have bought it sooner. But the lack of "glitch" in all the BORING AMBIENT REVIEWS had me question the capabilities of this thing. This video proves that I made a smart decision. Liked and subb'd
