    Anyone who remembers a world before social media/the internet completely took over our lives remembers the advertising and push to be technology savvy. We knew to check the website to see if it was a credible source. CNN vs CoolToots sharing a news article. etc. I think a lot of young people may know their way around a phone but they exercise less privacy protections and they have a harder time navigating spaces like Tiktok. It's the old folks that know to check the description for more information but younger people are primed to just see headlines or whatever was put on their feed.
    I'm not currently on tik tok. My attention span is already affected and I think that might worsen it. Rage baiting is an annoying trend that I hope doesn't live very long. I like that there's more active community on youtube ... sometimes

    Way before Nara Smith, Asian women were making this type of content for years and received no hate and got alot of praise for their domestic skills. Their videos have millions of views. Content is a two-edged sword; it might be negative for some people but have a postive impact on others. Being someone neurodiverse, videos like Nara's help me be more productive and achieve more. We all have different lives and different capabilities too.

    • @patrececritiques
      @patrececritiques  2 месяца назад +1

      Nara's ability to create cooking content the way she does is admirable, but the back stories are made up for no reason. I have not seen the Asain cooking content that you speak of, but I doubt the women in those videos are cosplaying as 1950s house wives in full makeup and a dress. If Nara's content empowers you to achieve more, that's amazing, but we all know it's unrealistic. In the end, it's only content and should be treated as such.

    • @tanatswataruvinga
      @tanatswataruvinga 2 месяца назад

      @@patrececritiques actually they are very well-dressed in feminine clothing. What’s realistic in my opinion depends on your life experiences and background. It’s perfectly realistic for Nara and many creators orchestrate a backstory for the camera based on what happened in real life.

    • @patrececritiques
      @patrececritiques  2 месяца назад +1

      @tanatswataruvinga Being well dressed in feminine clothing and cosplaying in 1950s inspired outfits to evoke or portray a specific character are two different things. Also, orchestrating a back story is weird when it's a lie and isn't necessary. Her kids don't eat cornflakes because she never buys it, but just so happens to wake up asking for it (her words, not mine). Make it make sense. Again, it's content and should be consumed as such. It will inspire some, others to it won't.

    As comforting it is to hear someone criticize Nara, you have to admit that she is a genius. If not for the BS little stories at the beginning of her videos she would not be getting as much views and comments on her videos.

    • @patrececritiques
      @patrececritiques  2 месяца назад

      I believe she would still get views. Have you seen what she makes? Gum from scratch! That alone is impressive 👏. The made-up stories to me are cringe and take away from the genius of it all. But then again, rage baiting it a tactic that drives views, so I understand what you are saying.

      @patrececritiques  2 месяца назад +3

      I don't know her personally, but from the videos, she definitely cosplays as a trad wife. I have no issue with her. Her content is very interesting, I had no idea how many things can be made from scratch. My issue is the made-up back stories as to why she's making the meal or item. I want to believe that I understand sarcasm, but nothing in the intro gives that. Maybe she's just trolling the trolls, but idk if people receive it as that.

    i just google Nara Smith after your video. I kept hearing about her but I don't have tik tok and I never went out of my way to look her up.
    Anyone that doesn't see that she is a team/entire system does not understand video editing or social media. They believe that social media influencing is so easy absolutely anyone can do it just grab their phone. She updates her tik tok and Instagram REGULARLY the photos look professional and the videos have multiple angles and cuts and are professionally edited. She would be exhausted if this was her full time job let alone being a mom of 3 kids. I would not be surprised if her husband or someone close engineered the entire idea and aesthetic.
    Looking at her videos reminds me of why every other influencer married or dated a photographer or videographer that was crucial in the beginning of their internet career. If the internet prefers professionalism its easy to churn out quality content at rapid speed if you live or hire a team to do the bulk of the work. Showing up on camera is not the bulk of internet fame if you intend to build a sustainable brand

      Nara is/was a model, and her husband is a famous model as well. His mom was a model, and dad is an entrepreneur. So there is also generational wealth adding to the success. She has access to the best photographers/videographers.

      When did I say there was anything wrong with making things from scratch? What I have an issue with is her making up unnecessary back stories as to why she's making these items. Making gum from scratch is amazing, but the fake sister craving gum story is just unnecessary. I thank her for making my content from scratch so I can be part of the 21.1 billion dollar industry. Thanks for the view!
