20:50 The closest real world equivalent I can think of is the Time a Roman(?) Emperor(?) was able to steal Silkmoths from China ending their monopoly over Silk.
29:36 the dome type of structure that you’re talking about was actually invented by the Romans in Italy, they used this particular style of architecture to build temples like the Pantheon in 112 a.d. The Santa Sofia cathedral of Constantinople was also built by Romans much later in 350 a.d. This particular style of dome was then re-discovered and perfected in Italy during the renaissance, the most famous example is the cathedral of Florence which has the biggest dome in the world, built by Filippo Brunelleschi in 1436 a.d. This subject is truly fascinating, I’ve seen such majestic structures all over Italy, so amazing to see these buildings hold up for thousands of years, another proof of the incredible view that the Romans had for the future of their empire and their ability in architecture.
What about the 12k year old temples found scattered across southeast Asia? This exact style is roman, but the use of domed structures like this is incredibly ancient, predating what we thought was the birth of agricultural civilizations.
