    The current ownership has been really good with patching up past fumbles and falling outs and it seems the newest “flirt” is with Journey’s Neal Schon! Neal already has a non-official and official signature Les Paul but there was some reported bad blood when Gibson continued to use the “axcess” heel carving on future models. Currently, he is loving the Les Paul Supreme - might we see a Gibson USA Neal Schon model in the future? We also talk about some other “news” like the Gibson Falcon Amps and Collector’s Edition Pickups.

    7:27 the Falcon 20 is not 20w ... and the design is ridiculous.

    Ah I remember the year 2000 when the "previously only available in Custom shop Japan guitars" Burstbuckers were offered for sale "the closet possible to late 50's PAF's" was the spin, wooden spacers, unpotted windings, original wire, hand wound on original machines, Hahaha! $200 and some change from Musician"s Friend for a 2 and a 3, little plastic case.. been in my 80 standard for 24 years....are they vintage now?

  • @joermnyc
    @joermnyc 6 месяцев назад +10

    I think they only had 1000 of the collectors PAFs to sell, and they did apparently sell out quickly.
    Steve from 60 Cycle Hum pointed out that Seymour Duncan came up with Silver Zephyr pickups for about the same price, with a little case for them too! And a lot of boutique pickup makers will charge you about $850… so add on $150 for the little case and there you go.

    • @jcwoodstl
      @jcwoodstl 6 месяцев назад +3

      Even if Gibson charged $300 for the same pickup set in the little case the internet would be full of people shitting on it and saying how overpriced it was. People love to hate Gibson because deep down they want one and can’t afford it. They praise shitty budget brand import guitars and talk about how they are better than anything Gibson puts out but they know deep down that they are just trying to make themselves feel better about not having a Gibson. People go on and on about how awful Gibson quality control is but I’ve owned Gibsons made from the 90’s up to current production and I’ve honestly had no QC issues with any of them. I have had QC issues with a few fender guitars and my PRS McCarty had a wiring issue straight from the factory.

    1) I might be in the market for a new Neal!
    2) Amp - not for me, strangely enough I quite like the Epiphone Snakepit amp and that's dirt cheap
    3) $1,000 "display" pickups... Pass
    4) TP6 - I was always someone who had Strat style guitars. And they all had FR or Kahler bridges, and my one actual Strat that has a custom vintage retrofit fine tuning bridge. The ability to tune via thumbscrews is just always something I had.
    When I bought my first LP it was "weird" for me, because I couldn't make any quick adjustments.
    My first thought of course was to have it routed for a FR.
    Then I figured maybe a surface mount Kahler.
    But I wanted to keep the original LP look and that's when I noticed the TP6 on Lucille and said "yeah I'm having that"
    Well worth the $150 in my opinion if you are used to making fine adjustments.

I did this to a string through non trem Dean ML back in the 90's. People would say, why have the locking nut without a Floyd rose bridge. No it doesn't. It simply allows the strings to be clamped down against the base of the nut.

    I had a super gold tone in the 70s and I have forever regretted selling it, granted I got a plexi in the deal so I’m not crying but if they bring those back I’m in!

    6:27 If they can get Bill Kelliher back on board and release a signature, you better believe I’d get one! Plus, it’ll probably be cheaper than the LTD signatures that ESP are putting out. It says a lot when Bill still plays his Les Paul’s live over the eclipse models.

    The strings are not seated correctly in that locking nut. It's worse on the low strings. The only good one is high E.

    If I had a spare grand sitting around I would quickly buy a set of those pickups. I would then have to buy a nice Les Paul to put them in.

    In one of the videos for the new Gibson amps there is a new Epiphone firebird (most likely custom shop collab) in Pelham blue with banjo tuners that is rumoured to be a leaked guitar.. made me think of Trogly lol

    well ive seen demos on the gibson amps and i cant imagine them selling many to be honest. the 5 watt is a rediculas 1499 and the 20 watt which is actually 12 watt is 1799. think of all the amp you can buy for this kinda price. i got swamp land for someone who will pay these prices

      Those amps are KILLER!! I played the 20 watt and it's EPIC. However, if you don't understand that Champ tweed thing, you'll never understand what this amp is about.

    You could try using alligator clips

    Basically there’s no need for a tp6 unless the lock-nut is there.
    The lock-nut pushes the string slightly out of tune and the tp6 is there to tune it back.
    It also means a Floyd that mounts to the pegs will work very well

    Sorry man, I’m not buying an amplifier with 12ax7’s , and everything else but the pots, mounted to a pcb board. What were they thinking? Those amps just won’t be around long., you know what heat does to a pcb board, right?
