So funny that he throws in that little "you can't fire me, I quit" seed just in case they don't actually flame him live in a tweet. And then they flamed him live in a tweet.

@@darkcnight he didnt "win" in the way people, especially doc, is claiming. he didnt "prove" nothing bad happened, the settlement just proves twitch didnt want to go to court over the allegations. this could be for any amount of reasons, like not wanting discovery to happen because theyd need to make public a lot of internal emails relating to partner program talks and how twitch whispers operate as a system, not wanting public knowledge that their contracted biggest streamer was sexting a minor on the service during a period of major competition in the space, or just wanting him on a NDA and gone. any, or a combination of those, is easily worth millions to Amazon. and we all know how much Amazon cares about actual childrens safety for the "why wouldnt amazon go to court to protect the child" thing.
@zackestin1368 so you'd willingly hand over a fuck ton of cash just to not have to deal with court, even if you knew you had a great case?? You are delusional if so. We can't know anything for sure. @@zackestin1368Yes but if they went to court Doc's dirty laundry would come out too, if he really groomed a minor no amount of money would make up for what would be, effectively, a career killer, not to mention what would come after. @unlisted9494 The dude is rich and was also keeping it hush-hush with Twitch. Besides, like he said, they kept this under wraps, and "he was found not to be in the wrong." I don’t know a lot about the dr. But I remember the commotion and conversation around him four years ago. Idk how much he talks about midnight society but he specifically mentioning it randomly after taking that pause and saying he’s gonna quit makes me 100% believe Ludwig’s conclusion on that
Doc is disappointed, him quitting for a while is understandable. It's so lame, watching these youtubers claim that it's "a bad joke" what Cody said, when they would sue immediately if they were in his shoes.
I think people dont understand that the trial doc 'won' was over whether his contract was fairly terminated, not whether he did the actions which got him banned allegedly.
The more comments I read, the more that is made Crystal clear. As well as not knowing, that an NDA can't compel you to be silent/cover up a criminal offense.
and if they banned him before he committed the actual crime... legally he would be in the right to get his contract paid out... kinda seems like twitch is the unsung hero here

If a company that's only point of relevance was their relationship with Dr cuts ties with him, you know something pretty serious happened Midnight Society has nothing to gain and everything to lose by doing this
If doc was sexting a minor on twitch wispers and the persons parents saw it they could of reached out to twitch about it. The legal tie up is because this person could of represented them selves as being a legal age on twitch. So Doc was sexting with someone he thought was an adult. That would track with why he didn't have any "legal troubles" results from anything having to do with a minor. Twitch also didn't want it to come out that they verified an underage minor on their site who was in fact not of legal age. So, its kinda like the spiderman meme of everyone pointing at someone else. Doc went thru some shit years prior for cheating on his wife or trying to. So maybe Twitch didn't want the face of the platform being a known cheater and now, technically a pedo in some peoples eyes. My guess is Doc, Twitch and who the other party was agreed to a settlement in which everyone went their own way. Only way the tweets line up with what is being said and why Doc would be terminated from Midnight. He might not of broken TOS for Midnight but its a bad look. Also why big brands dropped him as well.
You only have to be like 13 or something on twitch tho. I don’t think twitch verifies if anyone’s an adult. Unless you add a credit card for subs or something but idk.
Well now, that's a very nice theory and it would explain a lot of what and why things happened. I too thought about the possibly along those lines, as a girl was saying she was 18 and was 17
I have seen this theory being passed around today, it make sense. If there is a settlement, it might be that Twitch or even Cody Conners might be in some legal trouble for breach of the settlement, depends on that his exit documents look like at Twitch. If you knew confidential company data, especially about users, most company have you sign a paper that you don't release that type of information.
@@-Jarvis- yeah i don't know what TOS was then either as I'm sure it changes all the time. But if the "meet at twitchcon" is a real thing then I'm leaning towards a creator/ streamer who is verified then just some fan. IF they misrepresented their age then Doc is sort of clear of the whole "underage thing" I would guess. Also if age was brought up and they lied its why Doc never was charged with any type of crime. I think Twitch did something wrong that lead to all this coming out which is why Doc would win a wrongful termination lawsuit.
@@-Jarvis- Yeah man I think Midnight Society kicking him says more than the tweets. They pretty much had to confirm with Twitch and Twitch is liable to admit the reason of his departure. This is really damming.
True or false the claim, I worked for a court reporting firm and some of the stuff people settled on in court is wild. If Twitch really believed something of the kind that is being alleged happened, they had to report it to authorities or they are no better than the alleged perpetrator. Perfect example of why “innocent until proven guilty in a court of law” is a terrible way to personally judge people. It doesn’t matter if it’s not enough evidence for the American legal system to convict him of a crime, anyone with eyes and a brain can see that shit and know exactly what it means.
Did people think twitch whispers were private? What? Obviously twitch has access to them. It's not a private messaging platform, it's just a convenience tool for twitch to message other chatters *briefly.*
It's worth noting that *settlement* doesn't mean that his lawsuit was successful. It means that both sides agreed on a "price" to make it all go away. If it's determined that defending it will cost more than it's worth, it's not uncommon for a settlement to be offered.
But it was Doc suing and he said he got everything, they might have sued Twitch for more due to the damage in public image, but they setteled on the original full amount to not drag it any longer cause it is really hard to prove that and it is not uncommon that they sue for more then the aimed amount.
It absolutely means that lawsuit was successful!!! Settlement means that Twitch haD nothing and would 100% lose the case. Considering he admitted it, obviously they did. Chances are, they settled because the risks of this getting to court are high. People finding out their capabilities regarding the whisper product, people finding out more about some of the deals involved, the case being in the headlines for months as it drags on. Instead, pay some money to make it go away, and then you can control the terms of the deal. Civil suits sometimes aren't anything to do with the truth or what can be proven. So I don't see anyone mentioning this, but Charlie's theory about why DrDisrespect got banned that "most people subscribed to" doesn't make sense nor is the reason I initially thought he got banned for. Mixer announced it was shutting down, and they made this announcement June 22nd of 2020. AFTER that, Doc got banned on June 26th, 2020. The theory was that Twitch didn't want to pay out this massive contract they just signed to keep Doc on Twitch because they no longer had to since Mixer was about to shut down. That would also make sense why Doc sued Twitch.
Charlie spends most of his time both sidesing everything which can sometimes work out well but often leaves him carrying water for some of the worst people on the internet.

Some speculation in this whole drama, but what sounds most compelling to me is a game company (Midnight Society) that pretty much RELIES on Doc to make profit, terminating their relations with him after having made investigations. What motive could they have? Clout? Unlikely. The monetary profit from sticking to doc and having one of the largest current-day streamers plug your product is a gig that no sane company would throw away. UNLESS the consequences of sticking with doc would far outweigh the potential benefits. So whatever happened in those DMs, it was so bad that it was better cutting ties than sticking to the Doc, even though its one of the luckiest positions a game company could have.

"We settled in court" is not proof of innocence. A settlement is an agreement *by both parties* to drop the issue. He's acting as if reaching a settlement in his lawsuit is him winning. But if his lawsuit was strong enough, *he* wouldn't have settled either. Twitch absolutely had something that Beahm did not want revealed publicly and Beahm had at least some entitlement to get his contract paid out even if he breached.
Surely a twitch contract would have clauses that would render it void if certain clauses are breached. Twitch TOS outlines reasons why your license can be terminated, though not exactly the same, it would have something similar in the contract. If what he was accused of was true, then what grounds would he have to sue? let alone win? Here's my theory: Twitch falsely banned Doc due to "evidence" provided through chatlogs. As a result of the ban, he loses a lot of money from potential sponsors/deals, twitch subs etc. He sues Twitch, twitch doesn't want people knowing they read users chatlogs, decide to settle favouring Doc. Having studied psychology for over 15 years I can confidently say that he displays the appropriate amount of distancing for a situation that he had already resolved and put behind him. As someone studying psychology, you should know what occurs when a traumatic event reoccurs. There isn’t any information that suggests he did anything. In fact, the information provided shows that he did nothing. Twitch assumed he did, when it was initially brought to court, they realized their error and decided it would be cheaper to pay out his contract and have him sign an NDA than it would to be dragged through the mud in a wrongful termination suit and then, inevitably, a defamation suit. All that being said, it’s speculation on my part as well. But from a psychological standpoint his response is warranted as his reputation is, once again, being tarnished on unfounded allegations that he can no longer legally comment on. It’s a fight he already won and here he is again, having to face it, but without any teeth due to his NDA with Twitch. the massive thing is, Midnight Society's final paragraph said FACTS! *FACTS!* They did not speak lightly, they did not say allegations or rumors or anything, they said FACTS. Which means that what was previously a company Doc co-founded, was coming out to say he DID IT.
Facts by what standard, cause unless It's publicly available, the term "fact" can just be a case of bias confirmation. Facts can and should be shared, end of discussion.
I appreciate the candid disclaimer and honesty and about how we all will make judgements, followed by the encouragement to form our own opinions. Most channels that cover these topics, like keemstar for example, will immediately jump on the "he's a kiddiefiddler" train from this and will say they aren't encouraging their audience to target anyone while blatantly doing exactly that. That said, my personal take on it is that there's no legal scenario that would prevent him from saying "I didn't do that". There just isn't. He was deliberately vague and refused to deny it and instead reinforced that whatever he did do, twitch was found to be in the wrong, likely through a contract breach, which would also explain why he won the case. Midnight Society cutting ties like this too furthers my belief in this. They obviously also can't give us any receipts, but twitch would absolutely be able to show them as they have a duty to protect their own employees and customers, and business are required to share that info upon request under certain circumstances. If what they saw was enough for them, it's enough for me.
Honestly tho, it makes no sense. If he was caught having sexual conversations with a minor, there would've been charges, it's a Felony. Doc hasn't been arrested and won a court case already that would've opened up exposure on the incident. I'm not supporting Doc, I don't even watch his content, but like he would've been arrested if this was true
Some guy randomly tweets this out after four years and suddenly everyone believes him while there's literally zero evidence. Even the midnight company don't say "he did it" they just say it would be best to sever the relationship. Could easily be that they've realized he's not able to refute any claims or come with evidence due to the NDA. That tanks his image thus also tanking the image of the brand.
do you know how many crimes like this go unreported? it's possible the minor involved's parents don't even know about this. all he said is twitch found out and banned him. even if twitch reported it, reported crimes go uninvestigated every day. especially crimes committed online. I'm not saying he did it, I'm just saying no court case = didn't happen is not a good argument
"If he was caught, he would have charges" The world isn't that cut and dry, certainly not the legal system at least. You can be caught doing a lot of things, but if you were caught with illegal methods (violation of privacy like reading mail, e-mail, wiretap not authorized by a judge) you will more likely than not have no criminal charges. The DA office will see illegal methods were used to obtain information and know that they and any law enforcement officers will be punished if they push the case and sued to oblivion. I've talked federal prosecutor turned court of common pleas judge. They were MANY times when you can know someone commited a crime but will not charge them. Knowing someone committed a crime and proving that they committed a crime beyond a reasonable doubt to convince a jury of 12 people are to vastly different things.
no matter what who midnight society is and who was working with, they literally 0 rights or to say it more clearly they are nobodies in order to talk with the "parties" involved. 1. the parties involved in this situation is Dr.Disrespect and Twitch's LEGAL TEAM, no one else. if there was something also happening there's gonna be the minor and it's family. 2. nobody else knows the exact details from those 2-3 parties (and court) 3. if midnight society talked to some random twitch employees it's pretty much hearsay. 4. midnight society kicked doc out of the team to not lose "face" if the allegations comes true.
The only way to solve this is for twitch to release the reason. But if it was what is being accused they wouldn't, because it means they confirm they were reading private chats.
@@stayathomedad4830 righto champ. Doesn't matter what they do behind the scenes, they wouldn't admit that to the public because shit like that destroys a company.
I mean that won't be their primary concern .... if this accusation is true... twitch would get in trouble for not reporting it to authorities as this is a big offense...
I feel like Doc is bound by an NDA to the point he can't say much without severe consequences and Midnight "terminated" Doc to save their reputation which makes sense for a company to do. I think he's innocent but i guess we won't know till we know.
An important note I'd make, he didn't 'win' the settlement. That's the whole point of a settlement, no one wins, everyone walks away from the suit having resolved their legal risks. When a business is involved, it's almost always a matter of it being cheaper to settle. They might have won the suit but had so much bad publicity from not being able to publicly announce the reason for the ban and the costs invovled it's just cheaper to pay him, money that would already have been allocated anyway in their budget and just write it off.
The whole Midnight Society tweet reads so fishy. It literally says "these accusations" and then "these facts" right after each other. And what sort of investigation are they doing that we can't that made them come to that conclusion? And where is their proof as well?
?? Is it really that difficult to understand in context? They say they were accusations when they initially heard them, and then after their investigation, they concluded it was true, which would make it a fact... Lol.
@@zankaa8031 It's not a fact tho? Here's why... Give me a reason on why would you make a statement about someone then not provide a single evidence? Also whats not adding up is there is 0 charges made to dr disrespect for being a pedo. Innocent until proven guilty thats the reality.

5:55 There is a difference between SETTLEMENTS and JUDGEMENTS when it comes to lawsuits. Twitch and Doc settled. Doc didn't "win." They settled and signed an NDA.
doc's goal for the lawsuit was to get paid. he got paid. he won.

From getting cancer from a product, to severe child abuse, to death, if you have enough money, then things can get resolved fairly quickly, if it’s not a public, celebrity type of case.
but the one that commited the crime is the one paying, not the one paid (like in this case)

Im honestly confused as to why this is all comming out now and not years ago when it happened
twitch only laid off 40% of its staff this year, which frees them from a lot of things saying twitch cant talk about things.
@@zackestin1368 Nothing can keep you from reporting crimes. There is no legal basis for an NDA keeping you from reporting crimes, sexting minors is a crime.
If it's true, all of these people "that knew" are complicit, not strictly legally speaking, but socially? Fuck them.
The real answer is NDA. It expired and now people are talking about it.
Because they sat on the info and someone leaked it as a whistleblower
If Twitch really believed something of the kind that is being alleged happened, they had to report it to authorities or they are no better than the alleged perpetrator.

If the cost of the settlement is less than the cost of litigation, brand risk, possible payout (because there is very rarely such a thing as a slam dunk), it's not at all uncommon to settle, *even when you are in the right*.

@rigormortis3219 He was banned 2 days after Twitch released a statement about taking action on illegal activity in reference to the Twitch #metoo situation.
When your Co-Founders say things like "While THESE FACTS are hard to hear and EVEN MORE DIFFICULT TO ACCEPT" that means more than likely, the parties they talked to said something so disturbing that MS had no choice but to pull the trigger and separate from Guy. Everyone's out looking for the smoking gun. When the people you started a dream with say they had your back when the story broke. Then part ways with you stating they heard FACTS about the situation. They're saying that they know for sure that Dr. D is "not like us"
"We settled in court" is not proof of innocence.
I could also be 100% wrong but it's my current position.
@@Sherlock_Holmeless3818 so why would twitch get rid of one of there top English speaking streamers for not enough evidence? Having been studying psychology for a 5 years now I can say that he displays major red flags for what we call 'distancing language', and while that doesn't mean he's guilty of anything alone; it is cause for concern when evaluating a person's behavior in court or elsewhere. All of the information provided also suggests he did in fact do something wrong and it's hard to ignore something as huge as his own circle outing him. With all that said, actual receipts or a confession is all that can give a conclusive verdict.
If he didn't do anything, he'd flat out say it...the fact that he's not means he's afraid of legal repercussions down the line....which means he did something 😂
And the little garbage human beings running around screaming allegations for clout, with no evidence, are feeling no pressure whatsoever.

@@dadwarlord He admitted it today.
Generally speaking, I like to give people the benefit of the doubt, however, what I will say is that, generally speaking, there’s no smoke without fire.
If he had done nothing wrong at all, Twitch wouldn’t have banned him, he was their biggest streamer. Discord wouldn’t have banned him either. So I subscribe to the theory that, if it’s true, then while he may not have committed any crime, perhaps not knowing the person was a minor, there was enough wrongdoing for Twitch and Discord to break ties with him and keep it quiet as to the reason why.
It's crazy I see so many people parroting this phrase about smoke and fire. There's no way you're naive enough to think "SURELY nobody would accuse somebody of something they didn't do." The phrase about smoke and fire takes that for granted, but that just isn't true. People have so many reasons to want to sabotage someone else. The guy who leaked this is someone who has something to gain from saying this. I doubt that he specifically is the one who started this, but the point remains that people have reasons to lie.

Imagine signing a nda that states if you get accused of anything that has nothing to do with the facts of the case, you can't speak on it.
I don't think this is how a nda works
NDAs can extend quite far and be VERY broad. You have NO IDEA what the facts of the case is so you have no idea what the NDA can cover to begin with.
That is exactly how it works. They can prevent you from saying literally anything about the company you signed the NDA with, not even their name. As long as it's not used to cover up crime.

the massive thing is, Midnight Society's final paragraph said FACTS! *FACTS!* They did not speak lightly, they did not say allegations or rumors or anything, they said FACTS. Which means that what was previously a company Doc co-founded, was coming out to say he DID IT.
If it wasn't based on fact that's the opening for a lawsuit, they would have been fully aware of such when making the decision and statement.
That really doesn’t mean anything though, companies do this all the time

@@Glanzern Dr admitted to it, there is your proof, right from the horse's mouth.

Could easily be that they've realized he's not able to refute any claims or come with evidence due to the NDA. That tanks his image thus also tanking the image of the brand.
I want to make it very clear. If true, fuck Doc. But also if true, where is the felony charges?
do you know how many crimes like this go unreported? it's possible the minor involved's parents don't even know about this. all he said is twitch found out and banned him. even if twitch reported it, reported crimes go uninvestigated every day. especially crimes committed online. I'm not saying he did it, I'm just saying no court case = didn't happen is not a good argument
"If he was caught, he would have charges"
The world isn't that cut and dry, certainly not the legal system at least.
