Great video, I am building a 2002 for my nephew and just replaced the carb due to broken airbox and just being dirty. I just ordered new throttle cables because I am having trouble with the throttle right now it doesnt want to snap back. I am not sure why because everything seems tight. I am going to try new cables and hopefully they do the trick.
So the sleeve only goes in one way from the top. There should be a little notch inside carb and a channel on the slide that have to line up. If you ordered anything other then oem cables as well they have been known to be to long or to short if you ordered from eBay or Amazon. When it comes to carb work on these bikes only buy oem parts. Saves a ton of headaches.
Awesome videos! just picked up a 1993 PW50 for my daughter and I have a oil pump block off, single throttle cable, pod style air filter and throttle housing arriving shortly. Im glad you are doing the big bore kit as I too am contemplating that for my daughters bike due to the engine being a bit old and the previous air box being broken.
Ya I’m super excited. Just finished the boysen reed install that vid will be out soon. I’m waiting on exhaust parts. Going full fmf but they are not here. So didn’t want the top end just sitting there till I get those parts. Cheers glad you like the vids!
I just picked up a 2019. It revs high when it run mode. I thought maybe I had a choke that was stuck, but then I realized the slide was not dropping all way down bc the cable is too short. Glad I watched this video bc now I’m gonna try to take that coupler apart. That’s the only place I have left to get any more cable. I did remove the lock nut on the carb adjuster, so that gave me about an 1/8 inch more. I think I need another 1/8 inch for it to be right. Hoping it’s not seated in that coupler completely.
The previous owner could also have installed the oil injection cable which would be shorter. I think the cables were like 30$ in total from a dealership or order oem parts from partzilla.
Could you clarify which side of the throttle cable that goes into the carburetor - which way it’s supposed to be positioned. There is a groove in the left slot(top of carb) and which way should it match up with the throttle cable insert. bottom or long groove facing towards the left side of the bike
I highly recommend drilling a hole with the hole saw or a step drill bit on top of your stock air box if you do not have a pod filter it will really wake it up. About 1inch is fine
Thanks man. Glad you liked it! Can’t wait till I’m done this new mini series. Just finished the reeds. Vid will be up soon. Cheers. Happy holidays or as I would normally say merry Christmas.
Once you did the boyeson reeds, big bore kit and exhaust. What jetting did you go with and also what fuel mixture are you running. Just got a pw50 for my son and looking to build it. TIA
I kept stalk jetting. The bike already stock was rich running. Been a while since I have had that bike. I believe I mixed at 50:1. Might have been as low as 40:1 but no lower. Have fun building it. My boy loved it. Ran good. Was a fun little bike when I was all done with it. Cheers!
after 3days of messing with the POS i finnaly realised that motion pro cable is the wrong size and the cable to the carb is to short. so people who have problems with to high idle remove the air filter and check if the throttle falls down all the way. if not then you ither have a to short cable or have routed it wrong
Start the bike and pull the line that goes from the pump to carb. When it’s running it should weep out of the line. If you leave canister empty you definitely have to mix your gas in the gas tank. I ran 40:1 mixture.
Try backing out the idle screw first. If that doesn’t work, screw the top adjuster toward the throttle. You need to set the free play in the throttle. If the free play is good then it could be binding when you move the bars back and forth
@@noahmoussa294 it’s a two stroke. It will smoke. The older and more worn the top end is the smokier it will get. Rebuilding the top end will certainly reduce smoke but it won’t be completely gone.

I would also make sure the slide is installed properly in the carb. It could be just sticking as well. Double check that!

I ended up with a filter pod and a new fmf exhaust in end. Did a vid on it. Worked awesome. Cheers!
As always great vid, explanation, and narrating 👍

Ya the aftermarket cables certainly cause lots of problems. The stock oem cable worked like a charm for me! Hope it was helpful!
I got the OEM parts and the cable is too short. 😡
Did you take out the little inline fuel filter and replace with the bigger one ?
I believe I did yes. I had a fuel filter from an aftermarket carb I think. Sorry it was so long ago now
How to tell if my pump is working? Can I used a gas mixture if not sure and leave the canister empty

Thanks for the feedback. Glad to know I’m helping other people work on their bikes. Cheers!
@@bigair0176 yes sir.... it idles but dies out after so I was wondering which screws did what on thj carb. Should be good now
@@gabrielgalaxygh running good now?
@@bigair0176 yes sir running smooth. Thanks again
Right on! Glad to hear.
Why is mine running full throttle when i start it up? I didnt ajust the screw on the carb yet could that be the issue?

@@bigair0176 does that mean when you say screw it towards the throttle, mean turn the thing the changes it towards it or the plylers
You only mention the one screw what's with the other screw
One is the idle screw and the other is the pilot screw
@bigair0176 yes I had to rebuild it I found that out when I opened it. Thanks.
adjusting the idle screw doesn't change anything for me either
What is your fuel ratio? When you mix your gas?
40-1
@@bigair0176 how do you stop the bike from smoking? My bike smokes?

Should fix that back wheel it looks bent. 😱
Ya it was on the list. But the boys have out grown that bike and it’s now been sold. Cheers!
