You'll have more space. When I clean out, I have multiple containers - keep, donate/go to other home, look at in 2 months, if not opened, everything goes, and trash. Then start organizing as you start putting items away. This technique can be done with make-up, clothes, etc. Be proud of what you accomplished- the room has been transformed. If you are not caring for the set up you have, look into Architectural storage, blueprint storage is ideal for makeup, also vintage Typography storage works well too, although you do not seem the vintage type... so I would go with the blueprint storage, its thin, yet very accessible.... pricey, I will tell you that! but tbh, the Alex system, when you have enough of it, works the best for this line of work...
I was looking at the blue prints storage and I think they would be awesome for sewing patterns! I have a lot of pdf traced patterns and stiffer tack moulanges that would be perfect for those!

look into COPIC Marker storage for the small Brushes..... and possibly the larger handled brushes can be housed in them as well, but you would have to try it....

I'm with you on the Clinique cheek Pops. I feel like everybody loves them and I just don't get them. I've tried several colors as well, I just don't like working with their texture. They're fine, but there are so many other blushes I would rather reach for. My flavor du jour are cover FX or hourglass.

This has definitely given me the motivation to have a clear out and declutter because well it is holiday season and I need to make room for all the newness! I got a closet organizer drawer unit and put it on my desk. The drawers are not too tall so they work great for makeup. Got it from pottery barn, they’re custom closet section. It’s just a wood box with three drawers. Nice and sturdy. I use it with their Logan office setup. Works great and looks nice.

I've watched you for years, and you always seemed so organized and tidy. my makeup room looks like this, and maybe once or twice a year I have to tidy it up or die from shame. its a storage issue, my husband built me a pretty good setup but it still gets away from me. so then he took the back third of our living room and made me a walk in closet. things still get out of control. I so adore your videos. and you. reached the end, you did a great job. 🧡
I feel like you have a lot of storage solutions but they aren't working for you in the way you hoped. I love keeping the sequins so I went to HomeGoods and bought a giant glass vase and I poured all of my sequins in it, it sits on top of my alex 9 draw.

Love this video and your humor! I recently organized my vanity I got crystal and gold clear organizers from Amazon that look so pretty and girly. Anything hello kitty I LOVE!
Oh and I use the container store drawers under my bed for my face masks, backups, sample sizes etc... if they fit under your bed and you have a bed skirt or just dont care if you see the fronts of the drawers under your bed I've found them very useful that way. Definitely not stacked. I totally concur.😊
Your clearing put and reorganizing was inspiring! My biggest issue is that I like to have company. Not someone to help beyond talking at/with me. I too do not like the clear storage drawers. A solid set of closed drawers always looks neat. 11:50pm. I have to go clean!
Thanks for this video. Nice to see your collection. The idea with having a wide drawer unit under that desk seems good. Just get rid of the 9drawer and put the bit of stuff you have in there in one of the wide drawers in the bottom.

Good morning Michele! I am now motivated to clean my space. It was satisfying to see that you too use regular empty boxes to store your makeup and brushes. I was totally feeling busted because I repurposed boxes instead of buying storage containers for my drawers. Storage stuff just starts getting really expensive. That desk that you had there with the glass sides where did you find it?
I use big pretty glass containers for my brushes - I found my 2 favorite ones at thrift stores - the are about 5 1/2 inches high but the mouth of the container is about 7 inches across - much wider at the mouth than the base so works perfectly for the brushes to fan out - it is a nice think glass
I love your videos and this one in particular! I have just started wearing makeup again and when I did use to wear it-it was the bare minimum. So, I am watching videos to learn about different products and you are my very favorite to learn from. I know that when I get a new interest or hobby, I usually go overboard with supplies-so I have given myself the rule that I can only have as much makeup as my very small vanity will hold. I’m doing very well...so far and it’s really all thanks to you, because I trust your reviews so much-thank you, Michele!

I enjoyed watching your video! I have 3 of alex 9 drawers it really works for me .you can store so much in them and also top of them. You can get rid of clear boxes just keep everything in them and stays dust free.
my constant concern with cleaning/organizing is... how do i arrange my makeup stuff so its organized as well as all infront of me so I regularly use it ..so when u put those boxes on the shelf... got to admit i got a lil anxious like ..: “oh no all of that good stuff is in the bottom and back of the boxes and they might get ignored 🙈“.... when u opened the pat mcgrath box.... it gave me such a gud feeling ... this was fun to watch !
Thank you for this video Michele. I hope you do not mind if I make a suggestion. I would put as many Alex 9 Drawers cabinets along the wall behind your vanity. Doing so will allow you to move some of the different size furniture/desks out of the room and only keep what you need in the room. I would store all your makeup brushes, brush cleaners, makeup/brush storage bags on your bookcase. I think this will help you have room and give you more storage options. BTW, I use the Bricks storage bins from the Container Store inside the Alex 9 Drawers Storage unit. I love when you said, “Now it’s going to live back there.” I love all of your Hello Kitty purchases! ❤️ n ✌🏼to you!
This is my favorite video ever!!! I love cleaning and/or reorganizing. You dread what I love lol. Girl, you have a lot of brushes.. how do you clean all those? (Just buy new 🤣). Can I please tell you that it brought absolute joy to my heart that you were finding new things in your own stuff. Also, it made me extremely happy to see a grown woman giddy and excited about her hello kitty collection and “new stuff”. Now I don’t feel too bad wanting to buy a hello kitty razor from Ulta for $20 because of nostalgia.

I personally like tati’s custom drawers for organizing makeup, but I’ll wait to do that till I get out of an apartment. You could try a clear cube type solution it was sturdy and drawers didn’t fall out for me. Do what works for you, you have consider how much are you willing to keep in your room to find a best storage solution really.

Congratulations, Michele! You accomplished so much! Just facing the task is usually more than half the battle. I hate the container store clear boxes too. I bought them thinking I would use them for sewing and knitting notions but they are so clunky and hard to manage that they just take up space and make me depressed.
I would highly recommend a trip to the container store and have them help you figure out a system for your room. They are so helpful! An this wasn’t bad at all! Loved your progress!

I have an idea for your brushes! I use a 3-tier utility cart to store my paintbrushes, pencils, markers or anything that should be stored upright that is in taller containers. I put them in clear cups and then they can be stored upright so they don't lose their shape. And since it has wheels you can roll it out when you need them or roll it out of the way when you don't. I love your videos!

I like these type of videos and no need for the apologies it's pretty normal for any office or room to end up looking like this when you actually work in there. I haven't noticed your candelabras before -gold skull towers- and now I am truly loving them! And loving your choice of style even more :D I always feel like if something is not visible, I am not going to use it. Thus I designed my wardrobe for my existing clothing and not vice versa, where people usually get a wardrobe and THEN they try to fit in their stuff. On IKEA (at least in UK) there is something called PAX where you can design wardrobes and cupboards filled with dividers, drawers, nets, hooks of whatever of YOUR sizing and layout. It is practically a 3D software. Maybe you could take a look, calculate and measure and design a wardrobe for your loose hanging fragile drawers and then get rid of the drawers all together. I also feel like someone like you should invest more love into storing their brushes. I am imagining a wall, filled with an "open pencil case" hanging on multiple hooks and row by row on open display in the elastics -them brushes!! I'm happy to draw you a sketch of this thing, I imagine you'd need to handmade/sew it together the whole thing. And you could ofc choose the materials, match it golden to your existing accessories and so on. I hope I'm helping and not overstepping.

I really enjoyed watching this video because I need tips for organizing my space as well. I also have a brush problem and I definitely need to find a space for them because I’m not a fan of looking at brushes on top of my vanity. I’m excited for the filming setup video. Thanks Michele😘
I got a closet organizer drawer unit and put it on my desk. The drawers are not too tall so they work great for makeup. Got it from pottery barn, they’re custom closet section. It’s just a wood box with three drawers. Nice and sturdy. I use it with their Logan office setup. Works great and looks nice.
I love this! I've watched you for years, and you always seemed so organized and tidy. my makeup room looks like this, and maybe once or twice a year I have to tidy it up or die from shame. its a storage issue, my husband built me a pretty good setup but it still gets away from me. so then he took the back third of our living room and made me a walk in closet. things still get out of control. I so adore your videos. and you. reached the end, you did a great job. 🧡

Addition: I had to chuckle at your Pat McGrath box. I love keeping the sequins so I went to HomeGoods and bought a giant glass vase and I poured all of my sequins in it, it sits on top of my alex 9 draw.
I save the sequins, too. I have them in the bottom of my brush holders. It really just adds some cuteness to the vanity top

Oh and I use the container store drawers under my bed for my face masks, backups, sample sizes etc... if they fit under your bed and you have a bed skirt or just dont care if you see the fronts of the drawers under your bed I've found them very useful that way. Definitely not stacked. I totally concur.😊

I too do not like the clear storage drawers. A solid set of closed drawers always looks neat. 11:50pm. I have to go clean!

Thanks for this video. Nice to see your collection. The idea with having a wide drawer unit under that desk seems good. Just get rid of the 9drawer and put the bit of stuff you have in there in one of the wide drawers in the bottom.

Good morning Michele! I am now motivated to clean my space. It was satisfying to see that you too use regular empty boxes to store your makeup and brushes. I was totally feeling busted because I repurposed boxes instead of buying storage containers for my drawers. Storage stuff just starts getting really expensive. That desk that you had there with the glass sides where did you find it?

I cut the tops off cute boxes and use them for storage as well. I have a few from Too Faced and tarte because they had cute boxes!
I use big pretty glass containers for my brushes - I found my 2 favorite ones at thrift stores - the are about 5 1/2 inches high but the mouth of the container is about 7 inches across - much wider at the mouth than the base so works perfectly for the brushes to fan out - it is a nice think glass
I love your videos and this one in particular! I have just started wearing makeup again and when I did use to wear it-it was the bare minimum. So, I am watching videos to learn about different products and you are my very favorite to learn from. I know that when I get a new interest or hobby, I usually go overboard with supplies-so I have given myself the rule that I can only have as much makeup as my very small vanity will hold. I’m doing very well...so far and it’s really all thanks to you, because I trust your reviews so much-thank you, Michele!

There are a lot of IKEA space storage solutions you can use. They are not expensive and you can fit them easily anywhere.
You can also find less expensive dupes on Amazon. I just ordered some!

I enjoyed watching your video! I have 3 of alex 9 drawers it really works for me .you can store so much in them and also top of them. You can get rid of clear boxes just keep everything in them and stays dust free.

my constant concern with cleaning/organizing is... how do i arrange my makeup stuff so its organized as well as all infront of me so I regularly use it ..so when u put those boxes on the shelf... got to admit i got a lil anxious like ..: “oh no all of that good stuff is in the bottom and back of the boxes and they might get ignored 🙈“.... when u opened the pat mcgrath box.... it gave me such a gud feeling ... this was fun to watch !
Thank you for this video Michele. I hope you do not mind if I make a suggestion. I would put as many Alex 9 Drawers cabinets along the wall behind your vanity. Doing so will allow you to move some of the different size furniture/desks out of the room and only keep what you need in the room. I would store all your makeup brushes, brush cleaners, makeup/brush storage bags on your bookcase. I think this will help you have room and give you more storage options. BTW, I use the Bricks storage bins from the Container Store inside the Alex 9 Drawers Storage unit. I love when you said, “Now it’s going to live back there.” I love all of your Hello Kitty purchases! ❤️ n ✌🏼to you!

This is my favorite video ever!!! I love cleaning and/or reorganizing. You dread what I love lol. Girl, you have a lot of brushes.. how do you clean all those? (Just buy new 🤣). Can I please tell you that it brought absolute joy to my heart that you were finding new things in your own stuff. Also, it made me extremely happy to see a grown woman giddy and excited about her hello kitty collection and “new stuff”. Now I don’t feel too bad wanting to buy a hello kitty razor from Ulta for $20 because of nostalgia.

I personally like tati’s custom drawers for organizing makeup, but I’ll wait to do that till I get out of an apartment. You could try a clear cube type solution it was sturdy and drawers didn’t fall out for me. Do what works for you, you have consider how much are you willing to keep in your room to find a best storage solution really.

Congratulations, Michele! You accomplished so much! Just facing the task is usually more than half the battle. I hate the container store clear boxes too. I bought them thinking I would use them for sewing and knitting notions but they are so clunky and hard to manage that they just take up space and make me depressed.

I have an idea for your brushes! I use a 3-tier utility cart to store my paintbrushes, pencils, markers or anything that should be stored upright that is in taller containers. I put them in clear cups and then they can be stored upright so they don't lose their shape. And since it has wheels you can roll it out when you need them or roll it out of the way when you don't. I love your videos!

I haven't noticed your candelabras before -gold skull towers- and now I am truly loving them! And loving your choice of style even more :D
I always feel like if something is not visible, I am not going to use it.
Thus I designed my wardrobe for my existing clothing and not vice versa, where people usually get a wardrobe and THEN they try to fit in their stuff.
On IKEA (at least in UK) there is something called PAX where you can design wardrobes and cupboards filled with dividers, drawers, nets, hooks of whatever of YOUR sizing and layout. It is practically a 3D software.
Maybe you could take a look, calculate and measure and design a wardrobe for your loose hanging fragile drawers and then get rid of the drawers all together.
I also feel like someone like you should invest more love into storing their brushes. I am imagining a wall, filled with an "open pencil case" hanging on multiple hooks and row by row on open display in the elastics -them brushes!!
I'm happy to draw you a sketch of this thing, I imagine you'd need to handmade/sew it together the whole thing. And you could ofc choose the materials, match it golden to your existing accessories and so on.
