Good on ya mate. Great video - brings back the memories of weekends with the cricket on in the background on the telly - I could never work out why we played so little domestic one day cricket in Oz back in those days...
Rodney Marsh was devastated by the loss, when recounting this match in 'Gloves, Sweat and Tears'. It makes our victory all the better, because we played a great team desperate to win and beat them.
Mike Haysmen went on the rebel tour to South Africa. Considered to be a sell out by many in the South African freedom movement. He then got a job with Supersport as a commentator. It turned out to be a lucrative move.
*Best intro ever in cricket for me despite born in 2000*
Fantastic again Lawrie. You really set the bar with the rare videos. Keep it up

Was that the mighty Don O'Connor that could get himself into the big time at 49:55, that Tony Greig speaks of, wow!

Rod marsh rode his luck but he still had it with the bat at first class level, if not test level.
I am a Queenslander but if you were able to unearth the 1984/85 Shield Final when the Blues beat Qld by 1 wicket that'd be great!
45:00 What did Graeme Wood say here:
a) rats
b) fiddle-sticks
c) oh blow!
Kevin Wright getting one over his old team there
The WA team was full of old men.
I'm just wondering if C9 aired all of the One Day Cup games across Australia in those days and how often did they show Shield matches?
I'm pretty sure they aired all of the one dayers, but 9 didn't do Shield games. Around that time, Shield cricket would have been on the ABC.
Unfortunately WA player in this match Shane Clements died some years later by committing suicide. RIP.
oh no..
sad...
