My 4 year old son came over as I am watching you and he asked “mommy, what’s her name?” And I said “Claire” and he asked “what’s she doing?” And I said “well, she likes plants like mommy and is showing me her plants” and he asked me “does she like stuffies?” 😂😂😂

I know what a hell it is to find pests right before a holiday... Last summer I found thrips the day before we went on holiday for 2 weeks. Mayhem! Had to spray all my plants in one afternoon 😅
Seeds, I find, germinate way better in the dark. However, as soon as you see green shoots, you need to put them in bright light or they will be leggy
Beautiful collection! Have you considered working with a diary to write notes in eg: water ………. On Wednesday. Repot ……… on Saturday

regarding the yellow leaves on the aglaonema: my aglaonema (like a lot of other "bushy" plants) tends to loose older leaves with the starting of the growing season to put its power into the new growth. So no need to worry for now :)

I do my watering the same way! I do have my bin and grate setup on top of my rolling cart for complete mobility!
Also, when I go away for a week or more I put one end of a piece of yarn in the moss pole, and the other end in a bowl of water

Love the Ernestii, I recently got a 2 leaf top cutting I put it in water. One leaf died off but it's finally started rooting I'm so excited I hope it looks like yours one day!
Loved this video from another plant parent going through a mealy bugs apocalypse.
For a Rosemary bush that’s grown from a prop. You want to callus the end of your desired length or size of your cutting, put in a glass jar and give it frequent water changes and indirect light because they love it! It takes a lot of patience, I grew my own bush four years ago and it is just lovely. Patience will be worth it, good luck with your rosemary bush
My most memorable childhood chore was swabbing mealy bugs off my mother’s house plants with Q-tips dipped in hydrogen peroxide. I literally think I was 3 the first time I was given this task. Strangely, as an adult plant owner I’ve almost never had them. A few times on my ginormous ficus Benjamin that summers outdoors, but I’ve always been able to just blast them off with my garden hose and let nature take care. Squeeze your thumbs for me.
I learn so much from this kind of videos, just from seeing your thought process and how you deal with things! I can only keep ferns alive in self-watering pots, but once they're in there, at least they become low maintenance. Your Begonia very likely needs more light, my cane Begonias even love some direct morning sun, and I live in Spain where it's much stronger! With enough light, they become super fast growing and rewarding plants.
I love those blue star ferns but I feel like I have been personally victimised by ferns in the past which puts me off trying again!
I saw a nice aglaonema plant while you were busy repotting a plant. I love aglaonema plants so I have to tell you that I noticed it

The bit you broke off the silver sword was the petiole of the broken leaf. Mine had 3 or 4 in a row that broke and it just had a bunch of those sticking out 😅
You should propagate rosemary in soil: keep it on the dry side because it hates sitting in water. The same goes with thyme and sage

give all of your seedlings light. the ones in the dark grow leggy, stretching for light. darkness is only good for germination.

rosemary need green shoots for rooting cuttings. i use iba powder or gel . 4 to 6 nodes. strip the bottom leafs. plant right in well draining soil or meida. water prop neveer worked for my rosemary's . the local pro grow stores near you have the mammoth canncontrol?. its the best for ipm. i had thrip issues. nothing else worked as well as the mammoth. the small bottle only cost 20$us. happy planting clare and everyone

Well I'm assuming your apartment isn't constantly at over 28°C 😂 paraiso verde's variegation is dependent on the temperature of it's environment... I love this plant, but I can't keep the temperature high enough to keep variegation consistent...

The exotica takes a ridiculous amount of time to root and the curling of the leaf doesn't always go away, even if it is happy. Unfortunately it can permanently stay curled.
Hi Claire! How can you manage who requires fertiliser at the time and who does not need it yet? Or do you give less fertiliser than recommended to all at this time? I love your videos and all your work, dedication and knowledge about plants! :)
I have pretty much thoroughly watched all of her videos and follow her on insta and patreon, so I've heard her speak on this many times. She says she typically puts a very small amount of fertiliser in her water and gives this to her plants with each water. I believe she says she does this for plants only if they are showing signs of growth, even in winter months. If they're dormant, in rehab, being acclimated, or don't have a well established root system then she will not feed them.
@@mason0914 It seems to me the most reasonable way to do it. With dozens of plants and each species having a different periodicity of fertilization, I honestly believe it is the easiest way. Thank you so much :)

Its like yellow traps against gnats. There are many brands selling this. Just google Blue sticky traps und you can choose which brand you like
I've heard you talk about plant swaps that you attend often in your videos. Could you please explain how they work. I've never heard of them in my are, nothing beyond buy and sell on Marketplace. Is this an actual meet up?

Out of curiosity, what's your thoughts on scale? Most of my plants are fine but I found scale on my giant thaumatophyllum Bipinnatifidum and it's just so big I'm not sure how I'm going to approach it yet. I've separated it from my other plants for now but I hear more about thrips and spidermites than scale in the plant community.
Scale is annoying and can be time consuming to eradicate. You have to scrape them off if they’re mature and hardened on and use alcohol soaked q tips to kill the soft bodied babies. They tend to hang out on the leaves and petioles but can live in the soil too so once you get everything handled above the soil line, repot the entire plant in fresh soil.
If the plant is heavily infested it may not be worth the effort but you can try!!
I’ve eradicated scale from a few small monsteras but never anything too big. Good luck!
Wait when you recycle the water aren’t you putting toxins and any bacteria from the previous plant into all the forward plants?

It feels weird watching a video of you just pottering about but to a plant lover it's strangely riveting. Your blue star fern looks almost as terrible as mine did before I gave up on it and binned it! I think they like a LOT of light and consistent moisture. Not something I'm capable of providing! I do better with stag horn ferns.
Mine does great with neglect and drying up a lot but it is in really bright light. The temperatures in the room it is in can also get well over 30 centigrade during heat waves. But giving it a bit more water does give more growth.

I have to say, i was a little bit shocked to see all these mosspoles dried out to death....to buy or get more plants seems not really a good idea. A hobby should be fun and do with passion and love and not become a list to work through, were the only fun is, that you finished the job
Tobe fair, moss dries insanely fast. I have moss in a dish that I'm using to root some string of hearts and it literally dries out completely every 3 days 😅
