However I will say that if you go and try to learn more complicated songs of his, you’ll find that there are a lot more than just those four chords. Either way, he has some serious talent and deserves everything he’s achieved.

    Ed's albums wouldn't be complete without a G, Em, C, D chord progressions in a song

  • @carloslacerda8888
    @carloslacerda8888 3 месяца назад +6

    To put it bluntly, it's not about the chords, but about the progression (order, if you may, but that's quite likely to change as you change the song) of them, associated with the melody you're singing. Of course, the chords you can use, their order and the notes you hit while singing, will always changing according with the tone of your choice. As Ed Sheeran chose G major, the chords, to put it VERY simply, are G, Em, C and D. Just transpose music as you choose the best tone for you to sing and voilá, you can roughly play and sing any song without messing up. Of course, you're limiting yourself A LOT, but it's a good thing to know, specially if you make music for money

      Same with Taylor Swift. Just because lots of her songs use simple chords people say she's not a good guitarist but she's actually a fantastic rhythm guitarist. Her strumming and dynamic playing are amazing. She can make simple chords sound great. Other guitar players recognise her talent, it's usually people who don't play who just parrot things they've heard other non players say. She learned to play guitar on a 12 string at 12 years old. She can play harder chords but chooses not to for ease while singing. She uses a capo a lot and focuses more on where to bring it down, build it up, palm muting, sharp cuts in places she wants you to just hear the lyrics etc. Her Tiny Desk Concert is just her and her guitar/piano and it's brilliant. She's been using more complex chords on her last few albums and more finger picking too.

      @@MOAB-UT There are always different ways you can play guitar. Ed’s rhythm pattern in a lot of his old songs especially, is too hard to play. If he was just a normal guitarist, he wouldn’t be selling out arenas. There are countless gigs he has played without looper, and he nailed those performances! Not saying this coz I’m a fan, but as a guitarist myself, I have a huge respect for his abilities.

      @@NG-bp7kn He is OK but people who say he is the best GUITAR player don't know real guitar players. Ed is great at what he does, but that is limited. It's fine though. It's not a competition. Artists and promoters sell out arenas silly. He is not there because he plays so well. My guitar instructor plays 1,000 better, more technically but he is not a popular, goofy guy who sings sappy songs that fans pay to hear. If you like that sort of thing- that's fine. It’s really basic playing which is what he’s trying to demonstrate. I can name virtually any modern band or guitarist who outplays him at his own game - John Mayer, Tim Henson, Fleet Foxes, Ben Folds, David Ryan Harris, Hozier, Mumford and Sons, The Lumineers, Javier Reyes, Clapton, Knopfler, Isaiah Sharkey and so on.
      It’s fantastic to commend him for his singing and his early compositions’ influence on pop music but he has really stagnated musically these days and is undeserving of such praise from people who have no idea what great guitar playing is like, leave alone the intricate guitar work in the folk/acoustic genre he used to make music in. It’s really tired praise and is frustrating to hear from people who have no idea what they’re listening to.

    This is great. Eddie I wrote down an idea for a whole elaborate production. A “show” experience intertwining songs from autumn 🍂 variations & few others to tell a story & then I came back to reality & thought..yeah be a good playlist! ❤ I always think you’re great!

    If you think that you wrote 10 identical songs and think that this is a very bad, just remember this guy that made many songs on the same chords.

      He really isn't 😂 he's taking advantage of people's poor taste in music and selling them simple pop songs. I don't blame him to be honest.

    It’s depressing because the trend towards using only four chords is prevalent industry wide. Today’s music listening audience is hearing a much narrower musical palate than any audience in history. The Beatles were brilliant chord-smiths, for example, and music in every decade previous to this one has had more complex chord progressions available for audiences who therefore got a much more varied musical experience. However, the availability of all the music from previous decades is much wider than ever before so as long as you listen to a lot of older music, you’re still hearing sons with more interesting chord arrangements.

    of course, if you change the key of the song to sing it, you can play any song with the same chords.
