@@lookforthegood1Nah bro, thats just wrong. He doesn't have a big, "gifted" voice like Elvis or something, but when you listen to early stuff like A-team, it's a youthful beauty other artists just can't match
Even if it’s not your type of music, you cannot deny his song crafting and looping talent. Completely mastered his craft after a lot of graft from a young age.
@@maxotto9877 Any guitarist know it's not that hard. Not sure about a week practice tho. To nail that strumming pattern and do this while singing someone who can't play guitar at all will need at least 2 months of really good practice. Also, not to mention he CREATED this music. Anyone can sing wonderwall but it's not the same as Oasis making it. Right?
It’s true. Most pop songs and country songs use the magic four chords. However I will say that if you go and try to learn more complicated songs of his, you’ll find that there are a lot more than just those four chords. Either way, he has some serious talent and deserves everything he’s achieved.
I call it the wonderwall grip. Capo 1st fret. Full G-EM7-Cadd9-open D. You probably don't like oasis ED? Your a brilliant artist and i play a couple of your songs. Keep it rocking ED👍🏻.
Bro is actually a way better guitarist than people give him credit for because he doesn’t make songs with crazy chord progressions. The guitar for his music is a vehicle for the story not the story itself
Same with Taylor Swift. Just because lots of her songs use simple chords people say she's not a good guitarist but she's actually a fantastic rhythm guitarist. Her strumming and dynamic playing are amazing. She can make simple chords sound great. Other guitar players recognise her talent, it's usually people who don't play who just parrot things they've heard other non players say. She learned to play guitar on a 12 string at 12 years old. She can play harder chords but chooses not to for ease while singing. She uses a capo a lot and focuses more on where to bring it down, build it up, palm muting, sharp cuts in places she wants you to just hear the lyrics etc. Her Tiny Desk Concert is just her and her guitar/piano and it's brilliant. She's been using more complex chords on her last few albums and more finger picking too.
He’s really not, but that’s ok. That’s not what his vibe is about. Very gifted storyteller and great songwriter, but really, not by any measure, Is he a great guitar player.
he is not a guitar play ya'll. he is an entertainer- a story teller, a vocalist, and a good one. 4 chords can cover thousands of stories- lyrics are the main star.
@ConnorGaughan-do9hg Not really. Never once saw him do something like this ruclips.net/video/S33tWZqXhnk/видео.html&ab_channel=TommyEmmanuel Eddie uses a guitar as a prop to do looping and vocals. He is about as skilled as a first years Berklee student- if that.
@@MOAB-UT There are always different ways you can play guitar. Ed’s rhythm pattern in a lot of his old songs especially, is too hard to play. If he was just a normal guitarist, he wouldn’t be selling out arenas. There are countless gigs he has played without looper, and he nailed those performances! Not saying this coz I’m a fan, but as a guitarist myself, I have a huge respect for his abilities.
@@NG-bp7kn He is OK but people who say he is the best GUITAR player don't know real guitar players. Ed is great at what he does, but that is limited. It's fine though. It's not a competition. It’s depressing because the trend towards using only four chords is prevalent industry wide. Today’s music listening audience is hearing a much narrower musical palate than any audience in history. The Beatles were brilliant chord-smiths, for example, and music in every decade previous to this one has had more complex chord progressions available for audiences who therefore got a much more varied musical experience. However, the availability of all the music from previous decades is much wider than ever before so as long as you listen to a lot of older music, you’re still hearing sons with more interesting chord arrangements.
The fact that people pay good money to go to his concert and hear the same song played over and over again with slightly different corny lyrics and off-key karaoke-quality singing never ceases to amaze me
It was never chords that made his music. I've never listened to his music for pleasure, but people love it. There is a reason. He speaks to some. That is enough.
I've been playing guitar for only 2 years now. Lockdown guitarist, lol. I wondered if i was doing something wrong when learning these songs. Turns out they're meant to be similar 😂. Cheers edd. 🫡
The fact that he’s actually proud that he uses the same four chords all the time just blows my mind. He says ‘four chords are all you need’. Go tell that to David Bowie, Joni Mitchell, Paul Simon, John Lennon, Randy Newman, Carole King, Kurt Cobain… Sheeran used the I-V-VI-IV chord progression EIGHT times on his last album. It’s frankly embarrassing at this point. Not to mention flat out boring.
