Have your ever try the GL mixers from Allen and heath? if do, do you think the GB is a better mixing board? I'm deciding which of these two to buy but I never use either one, I will appreciate your opinion. Thank you and I really like your video, it's very nice! I also see in a different video that you also have a Midas Venice F32 board, how do you compare it with the GB mixing board? Please let me know, it will be great to know!
I like both consoles, but I think the Midas has more depth and punch and a deeper low end punch. I have not used the GL from Allen Heath, so I cannot say for sure, how they compare. I really like the Soundcraft and the Midas, but for very different reasons. If I had to choose, I'd choose the Midas, as the EQs just seem more extensive. Hope this is helpful!!! 🙂
Hi Great bassy mix there....Just picked up this exact same desk $450 in perfect working condition! ..any idea what size the fader caps are considered as I want to replace mine with other colours.
Greetings from Ohio. I'm a 51 year old heavy metal type of guy, but enjoyed your video on the Soundcraft. I have an MFXi-20..so quite a bit smaller, but really enjoy the options and Lexicon effects on board. Nice vid, thanks for sharing.
Super video ! I see WHOOLY MAMMOTH, does it means you send a parallel stereo track in a guitar pedal FX ? Did you directly plug the FX pedal on the mixing console ? Why doing this way rather than Aux the Whooly ? What's best in the sound quality ?
My Wooly Mammoth is an outboard piece of hardware. See the link I included. It’s a hardware distortion box! And yes, I am running it in parallel to whatever I want to run through it. 🎧👍. Tanks for checking out the video! 🤟🏽
Thanks for checking it out Joe! 🙂 I haven't used the A&H consoles, but I'm guessing it's comparable. They seem to have very similar features and you can probably get what you want from it and make it sound, how you want it to sound! Good luck and let me know how it goes.
Thanks a lot Sarang! I think the differences are very small. The only one I can think of at the moment is the GB8 has 8 sub groups and the GB4 has 4. Again I'm not certain if there are other significant differences. Be well, and thanks for checking out the video! 🙂
Hey thanks a lot, Matt! I have four things on the parallel, and you're absolutely right, it makes a great starting point! Gear: Neptune 342 EQ's, Wooly Mammoth Distortion/Saturation, Ashly PQX-571's EQ's and the MindPrint DTC Tube Compressor & Mastering EQ. All outboard gear and all stereo pairs! Love these things and I'll do a video, specifically on the different pieces, in the not so distant future. Be well, :-)
@@timefeelandsoul Thank you for sharing. You have a really great setup and sound. I would love to watch a video about your gear and parallel concepts. Thanks again!
Hey there - Thanks for your cool tutorial. :) I have a question about the Group and Aux swap: If I turn the switch: Does that kill the Aux Bus entirely Or only the fader section? And if it swaps both fader and potis: Do both output sections still function? (I intend to use it as a live console and I would like to work with 4 Aux for Monitors, 2 Aux for FX and hopefully 4 Stereo Sub-Groups to organize my submixes. And as you can guess it would be great to have control about ALL output levels. So it would be sad If I would have to choose e.g. between a monitor mix and a group... ?
Thanks for checking out the video! :-) I'll go through your message in the next day or so and try to give as detailed an answer as I can, to your various questions. Be well ~

I am not familiar with the Venue console, but it looks very extensive, in its feature set. Before buying something, I'd have to talk to you further and find out more of what you're looking to do. I also have a Midas F32 Analog Console that I'm about to make videos with. Its a much phatter and weighty console, and the EQ is more extensive and detailed. I am not familiar with those two mixing consoles, so I'd have to say, it depends on what you're looking to accomplish. I use a console, because I get the sound I want faster, and its more fun with a lot less thinking and zero mouse clicking. If I need more than what the console offers, then I grab a plug-in and finish off the job. This workflow, usually gets me 85/90% of the way there, if not all the way! :-) Good luck choosing something, and let me know how it goes! Thanks for checking out the video!

Probably not without a monitor controller. From what I recall, the GB8 only has main stereo outs and one sub out. However, you could send the main outs from the GB8 to a monitor controller, that would give you the option of having multiple speaker/monitors connected to the monitor controller.👍
