Per a phone conversation with a Garmin employee the 93 SV UHD is rated to operate between 9-18 volts and has a 3 amp quick blow fuse. The GLS 10 operates between 9-32 volts so I was told using Milwaukee M18 or Dewalt 20v batteries without a voltage reducer is ok.
Nice clean install, I have a similar box that I am mounting my 93 head unit and Livescope in. Great idea with the cutting board on the bottom to be able to remove the guts if I want to mount later on my boat, but I also fish from a kayak and in a bass club where I will be fishing in other peoples boats so I may opt to leave everything in the box and mount the head unit on the top or on boat or kayak rail.
If you have the clearance, you could even cut out a slot above the the screen and bolt on and/or silicon seal a plexiglass panel so that it can be operated closed, which would make it completely weather sealed.
Exactly what I’m looking for. Thank You for this video. I think I’m going with seahorse 540 case since I have few of them for different purposes and they are top notch and not expensive.
One more question. If you were to do it all over again, would you do the exact same thing or what would you do to improve on it? I just bought the livescope plus for ice fishing. Thanks
How long does the 18v 6 ah battery run the 9" monitor? That should be 108 watt hours of battery so should run just the monitor for about 7 hours. I'm curious if dropping the voltage from 18 to 12 reduces the watt hours of the battery.
Nice build! Wish I had seen it before I bought and assembled Garmin's Large Ice Bag. FYI -> Panoptix and most of the head units are able to run from 10v-32v, according to their website. Also, I have head good things when guys run them "over volted" with 18v power packs like yours without a convertor/resistor and supplying the full 18v. Clearer images, faster response, etc...
Have you had any issues with your voltage step down unit? It says max 3 amps. I am pretty sure the fishfinder and livescope black box together suck up a little more than that.
Great setup thank for sharing. I'm setting mine up. For power, I calculate about 2amps draw based on spec sheet of both units. What can you expect from 20v 5ah batteries? I was going to go sealed lead acid but looking closer at my DeWalt lipos
Great quality build! Question for you: I notice you aren't using the factory screen cover. Is this because the fit is so tight there is no additional room in the case when closed? Apache shows a total inside depth of 6.125" which is the exact same depth as the head unit on it bail mount. How thick is the cutting board your are using? Thanks for the info!
I’ve built something very similar just waiting for the units to arrive. I have heard the black box draws a lot of power. How long are you getting out of the 20volt 6ah battery?
Is this the 7" or 9" screen? Is that the standard screen holder that folds down like that? Like your setup alot. Wanting something that I can move between pontoon, bass boat, icefishing and if I get brave the kayak, and this looks perfect.
The battery connector was purchased here: www.ebay.com/itm/1x-battery-adapter-for-DeWALT-20v-Max-18v-dock-power-connector-12-gauge-robotics/142979592702?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649 I think they are available from other sellers as well.
Nice job on your case. Looks like you could get away with a 3800 series case if you tipped up the black box? Nice to be able to protect a large investment from the weather and other abuse.
I am from Quebec Canada. The species we fish is the speckled trout, the characteristic of this one is that it is held in less than 30 feet. The main technique to catch it is by trolling with a spoon followed by a hook with a worm. Of course it is quite rare with my Humminbird Mega Live G2N Si to distinguish these specimens even with the traditional sounder because as soon as one approaches them the shadow of the boat makes them flee immediately. In these circumstances if I acquire a Garmin GPSMAP 1222 with Panoptix Livescope System Touchscreen Chartplotter an investment of 4310 $ Canadian that can give me a certain advantage in the capture of this trout
I got the 3800 on accident thinking that is what you used, but still trying to get it to work before exchanging. The problem I am having is getting the Garmin graph to close as it sits too high. After reviewing the specs it appears both the 3800 and 4800 have the same depth. Is that incorrect? How are you able to get yours to close? Do you use a different mount holder than what you get with the graph?

Prior to seeing your video i was thinking of how i could rig up the same setup with the apache box,and poof here it is,excellent...
Did everything exactly like you showed and I am ready to use it. Thanks again for the video.
Even though they now have a bundle I'd take this over theirs any day, sweet!!
what a great solution. Nicely engineered!

I would just make sure whether or not you need some ventilation.

Did it all fit? I was thinking the 720..

This is awesome, I have been looking for a while and this is exactly what I was looking for. Thank you.
Did you wire in a battery cut off switch?

Nice job. I like the design. Curious, anything you would have done differently or improved if you did it again?
Awesome video, exactly what I was looking for.

Impressive work
What volts did you set the regulator at. thanks Ralph

It is the Echomap 93sv plus, so the 9" screen. Yes, I am using the standard holder for the 93sv.
Could you share where you got the Dewalt power adapter or what the name of the product is?

David Close how long does that battery run the panoptix
How long does 1 battery last ?
What model and size screen was that in the video? I just bought the GPSMAP 1222 and wondering if it will fit.

do you think a GPSMAP 8610 will fit in that case VS 93xx

Do you have the wire diagram for your build
Genius 👍🏻
I need link to that regulated
Does the battery run all of that for more than 4 hours?
Co to za bateria i ile wytrzymuje jakie ma parametry
Well done
How many hours run do you get off 60v max battery
You should run about four hours and should bring a couple of those batteries
Great setup! I am building mine and was wondering how much time you get with yours before the battery runs out?
Did you ever try it out to see how long it lasts?
Nice
Can you post the voltage regulator link please
Please see the link in the description above.
