I’ve been watching reaction videos for a few days and I haven’t seen one single bad thing about Oliver, his song or the message. This song has so much power behind it because it speaks PURE truth. Truth is so void in everything we see and do… people are HUNGRY for it.
I'm a grandma and been raising my three grandkids since 2014. I didn't get child support for anyone of them until about three years ago when I got it for the youngest. I still don't get to claim her on my taxes. I work almost 50 hours a week and can't get food stamps. Oldest graduated. Second graduates this school year. One left at home. When I got them my bigger half had been diagnosed with early onset dementia. He was also a type 1 diabetic. He passed in 2018. I work my fking ass off. I get little to no help from services. We make it by the skin of our teeth but we make it.

I can’t stop watching all the races that have commented. I went to his show in Moyuck NC. Drove 7.5 hrs round trip and 100$ in diesel. My wife and I could not believe the different races ethicist that showed to support this young man. It was a very different feeling.

When I first heard this song I wanted to cry, it was my life. Divorced and raising two kids alone, it was so hard, but I made it and retired 10 years ago. Thought I’d get to do something for me, but living on Social Security doesn’t leave much extra. Worked 35 years with no retirement, just to go home and die. He gets it.

Someone said this isn’t a song, it’s an anthem and I couldn’t agree more! Raised by a steel factory worker who worked double shifts to provide for my mom and us three kids I related to his words. As a two time cancer survivor, just finishing treatment after a year long battle and STILL waiting on a determination from Social Security for temporary medical disability, I have been left frustrated and disgusted by our system. Worked and paid into the system since I was 17….that’s 40 years and the one time I needed and applied for help they can’t make a timely decision. Man I felt this song in my soul!!! It just hits on so many levels! Our politicians are overpaid professional fighters. They just get to DC and fight with the other side so that nothing gets accomplished. Dude, I'm with you 100%. I'm a female turning 60 this year, an Air Force veteran (and yes, like most Americans, on the chunky side) but man, this spoke to me in every sense. I no longer fall prey to the crappy food options and eat clean now. The generations after me are killing themselves with food and it shouldn't be this way. I love this guy and will continue listening to his music.
I think the 300 lb fudge round line isn't so much a personal dig as it is a condemnation against the system. They aren't offering mental health help, or any sort of rehabilitation, to these people. No life coaching or financial planning. My grandparents used to listen to Hank Williams. Oliver reminds me of the old Hank albums they used to play. This song gives me goosebumps and tears. He recorded one song out in the woods, and it blew up! It's a much-needed message right now.
I'm likely as old, or older, than your grandparents and YES, Oliver has a LOT of similarities as how Hank Sr sang. I remember listening to Hank Sr on the radio starting at when I was about 4 years old and that was just after his death. And I've been a huge Hank Sr admirer and huge fan of his ever since. I’ve been watching reaction videos for a few days and I haven’t seen one single bad thing about Oliver, his song or the message. This song has so much power behind it because it speaks PURE truth. Truth is so void in everything we see and do… people are HUNGRY for it.
I'm a grandma and been raising my three grandkids since 2014. I didn't get child support for anyone of them until about three years ago when I got it for the youngest. I still don't get to claim her on my taxes. I work almost 50 hours a week and can't get food stamps. Oldest graduated. Second graduates this school year. One left at home. When I got them my bigger half had been diagnosed with early onset dementia. He was also a type 1 diabetic. He passed in 2018. I work my fking ass off. I get little to no help from services. We make it by the skin of our teeth but we make it.

Music from my home province where I hear the local dialect hits me similarly. It's beautiful and it's strong and I can feel what he feels with every note. With an old soul! Amen my husband is a steel worker and he pulls multiple 16 hour shifts and its swing shift and has one day off a week, and its so hard on our kids especially our son 😢

I was in the union for 16 years and am so glad I was able to get away to start spending more time with my family. I miss the money, but I missed a lot working those union hours.

When I first heard this song I wanted to cry, it was my life. Divorced and raising two kids alone, it was so hard, but I made it and retired 10 years ago. Thought I’d get to do something for me, but living on Social Security doesn’t leave much extra. Worked 35 years with no retirement, just to go home and die. He gets it.

Someone said this isn’t a song, it’s an anthem and I couldn’t agree more! Raised by a steel factory worker who worked double shifts to provide for my mom and us three kids I related to his words. As a two time cancer survivor, just finishing treatment after a year long battle and STILL waiting on a determination from Social Security for temporary medical disability, I have been left frustrated and disgusted by our system. Worked and paid into the system since I was 17….that’s 40 years and the one time I needed and applied for help they can’t make a timely decision. Man I felt this song in my soul!!! It just hits on so many levels! Our politicians are overpaid professional fighters. They just get to DC and fight with the other side so that nothing gets accomplished. They think they know better than us little folks. Whew! He just wrote and beautifully performed a modern day anthem! I pray it reaches the ears and hearts of the rich men north of Richmond.

For those that don’t know, the instrument he is playing is a resonator guitar, commonly known as a Dobro. My grandfather played this as a backup musician, even playing at the Grand Ole Oprey in Nashville TN. I miss him terribly and he would have LOVED this song! He was NOT a religious man, but he would always say “I’ll let the missus pray for our souls, but I swear to GOD I hate politicians! The only time they care about the working man is when they want our vote!” I love the fact that Oliver came out and said this song wasn’t for the left or the right, it was about ALL the politicians north of Richmond!! Dude, I'm with you 100%. I'm a female turning 60 this year, an Air Force veteran (and yes, like most Americans, on the chunky side) but man, this spoke to me in every sense. I no longer fall prey to the crappy food options and eat clean now. The generations after me are killing themselves with food and it shouldn't be this way. I think the 300 lb fudge round line isn't so much a personal dig as it is a condemnation against the system. They aren't offering mental health help, or any sort of rehabilitation, to these people. No life coaching or financial planning. It's oh you can't work okay here's just enough to get by, oh and if you aquire any asset over this set amount we're taking your check and you might have to pay us back the money you recieved. The system isn't a helping hand to pick you up, its rigged to keep you down.

My grandparents used to listen to Hank Williams. Oliver reminds me of the old Hank albums they used to play.

I'm likely as old, or older, than your grandparents and YES, Oliver has a LOT of similarities as how Hank Sr sang. I remember listening to Hank Sr on the radio starting at when I was about 4 years old and that was just after his death. And I've been a huge Hank Sr admirer and huge fan of his ever since. I believe Oliver is the same way about Hank Sr, and Hank Jr.

Oliver Anthony is talking my husband & my pain! My husband retired this year, after 40 years of hard work & providing for our family. We had planned when he retired to be able to camp as much as wanted with our grandkiddos few weeks at a time or taking a trip, but with the price of everything we have had to cancel all our plans just to be able to food on our table.
