    Great video. I’m thinking of going Dakota all lithium on my trolling motor ( 2-12v 100ah) and 1 - 12v 135 starting battery for cranking and electronics etc. skipping the AGM. Is that a good idea ? My motor is the 150hp Pro XS. Cheers

      Yup 1 is fine just be careful about interference on your graphs. I'll be replacing the agm shortly, that 1 battery swap in this video gave me an additional 1mph. I think I'll be changing the rest this year as well. Good luck and thanks for watching!

      @@TheGrumpyFisherman Thanks for getting back to me. I have my electronics wired for clean power and they worked great all summer off a lead acid. So hopefully when I just swap it out for lithium. It’s the same case. I just subscribed to you as well. I think I’ll order a 135ah soon.

    Great video. I've been looking at doing a similar upgrade on my boat.
    I have a crappy alternator and will require a DC-to-DC charger.
    I just wanted to confirm that I understand your system... Are you using the AGM while the engine is running and only using the lithium while fishing (engine off)? Am I correct in understanding that your plan is to use your noco to charge the lithium while in the garage only using your alternator for the lithium in case of emergency?

      No, the agm is being used to start the motor, run the guages, nav lights and livewell etc (basically the factory electrical system that existed BEFORE I added a bunch more myself). The lithium is being used to run the fishfinders, NMEA network, usb chargers, Aqua Vu camera and is connected to the rest of the system via the Selector switch. There is a 4 bank NOCO Onboard smart charger in the front of the boat which charges all 4 batteries while plugged into 120VAC (4 X 10 amps). While on the water the motor will charge the AGM and the lithium will normally not be charging. Basically two separate electrical systems Brad. They can be connected via the Selector switch if one battery goes dead but normally will not be. This splits the amperage draw and reduces chances of interference with the fishfinders which can happen when both systems are connected to one power source.

      @@TheGrumpyFisherman I think I understand your system now. So when the selector switch is off the AGM system is still connected to the "factory wiring" (engine, live wells, etc.). Selector switch in position 1 connects the lithium to your fish finders. Selector switch in "both" ties everything together incase you have trouble starting your engine and selector switch in position 2 will run everything off your AGM?

      @bradstevens7902 almost. The fishfinder (that bus bar) is connected to the lithium constantly... there is a power toggle switch at the dash for it. The agm is connected to the boat/motor only in position 1. Position 2 connects the boat/motor to the lithium only. Position BOTH connects both batteries simultaneously to the boat/motor. The selector has nothing to do with the lithiums connection to the electronics/bus bar, only the battery connections to the boat/motor.

      @@TheGrumpyFisherman OIC now. Fantastic setup. I'm going to make the switch after my current AGMs get a little more tired.

    Nice set up ! Did you get the 200 amp switch or the 600 amp ? Where did you get your extra wire to connect the batteries to the switch and what gauge / Amp rating were they?

    • @TheGrumpyFisherman
      @TheGrumpyFisherman  7 месяцев назад

      The wire is 8 gauge. Got it off amazon I believe. What switch are you referring to?

      @@TheGrumpyFisherman Thank you. On Amazon they have switches. One handles 200 amps and the other 600. Do you think 200 is enough?

    • @TheGrumpyFisherman
      @TheGrumpyFisherman  7 месяцев назад

      I just checked the one I bought handles up to 32 volts and 300 amps.
