You can almost instantly get a max level megaflare and drop it as soon as they land. When paired right, it's also some of the best damage in the game and (as far as I know) the only way to actually empty Banabas' Flash of Steel gauge before [spoiler] he cutscene wins.

  • @spiderknight217

    One thing you should mention about Titan Block is that basic and perfect blocking build huge chunks of LB bar. Think of Royalguard for Dante building DT. I like pairing it with Odin skills to compensate the fact that his skills don't build limit break bar. And Titan Block cancels out alot of Clive's animations while also providing a defensive shield.

    • @Tloc222

      Forgot to mention that you also don't have to use all three hits of the counter hits so you can weave them and block/perfect dodge after, and the block and counter hits can be done midair. Utility is through the roof with high risk and reward.
      Odin is probably the worst if it wasn't for Zantetsuken. The sword does no damage, no bar built for LB, it almost forces you to use Dancing Steel or one of his abilities to build Z bar taking up a slot, and Zantetsuken only gets value at level 3 and up. Probably the biggest commitment for 1 move

    My Thoughts/Summary of all the Eikonic Feats
    Pheonix: Best for Pursuing enemies, and also for larger bosses, moving straight to your current targeted are {Prefer the Head, but this will make you use air attacks only till you land back on the ground}
    Garuda: the Will Eater, Gouge is normally my "Go to" when a larger enemy is at half way in it's will meter, so after Yanking them into the extended Stagger, we use Gouge to eat away at the meter until the enemy gets back up, wait for them to attack, and then use Rook's Gambit to dodge, strike three times to remove the rest of the will meter, and then go in for the punishment!.
    Ramuh: Surprisingly good when it comes to crowd control. Now hear me out, yes Ramuh's feat isn't the best during combat, but it has better uses, such being
    1: aiming at as many targets as possible before a fight in the open world areas, or as soon as your able to during a scripted fight, that way you get a good couple of Licks in the lesser enemies health bars.
    2: set a Lightnig Rod into the field, then move away form the enemies {if you can make them group up and follow you it works better} and fire all 6 {9 if you've mastered the feat} and the sphere will shock whatever enemies are in the lightning rods radius.
    3: it's good extra damage in case all your other spells are recharging, if you feel like it at least.
    Titan: Basically Dante's Royal Guard, but it's three {I swear it's four if it's a larger enemy} hard punches, and it fills your limit break meter up fast!. Perfect for aggressive, maximum damage playstyles!.
    {Not to mention my Favorite Eikon}
    Bahamut: on one side you're making yourself a target, but on the other hand you are able to dodge, plus once the meter reaches up to 4, Rain Hell from Above. also the Satelite is indeed useful for keeping you safe while in this charging state, trust me.
    Shiva: I gotta admit, Shiva has an incredibly useful feat, you can dodge for a much longer length to get you out of trouble, and the fact you can freeze your enemise makes this great for dealing with multiple and singular enemies!. combine this with your favorite hard hitting move {mine is Windup}
    Odin: *"Now I'm Motivated!"*

  • @Padrier958

    I use Megaflare, Cold Snap, Arm of Darkness. They are my personal top 3. A bit annoying against flying enemies but Torgal is a pal and brings them down.
    Cold Snap is everything the 50% pull down Garuda does and more. It can be used more often, you get your cooldowns back, and you're active during the enemy freeze instead of in an animation.
    Megaflare has so many ways of quickly charging it against stronger enemies, which is why I personally rate it really high. There's too many bosses where if you see a certain pattern you can go into megaflare and get level 3/4 nearly instantly. Any move with many active hit frames you can spam dodge through. Example being expanding aoes, the rays of a boss, odins multislashes, etc. Dodge into aoes, you never lose i-frames if you spam megaflare dodges, and the activation of megaflare is always invulnerable.
    Also, a well timed megaflare before stagger can shred enemies so hard most die within 1 stagger on ff difficulty, maybe not on Ultimaniac however.
    And, for all the reasons you stated, I too consider Arm of Darkness the strongest. Its parries charge so fast, Dance of Steel with the upgraded accessory is a free level 5 bar. It's just... overpowered in everything except scoring in arcade mode.

    I didn't feel like Garuda was super necessary. In NG, I feel like you can roll with basically anything and do fine. I've been working my way through FF mode and I definitely think you either need Bahamut or Odin for the extra damage they provide. Megaflare doesn't have the nutty damage that Zantetsuken does, but you can throw it out a lot more, and if you're just not great at playing super aggressively, it might gel with you a little more.

    Blind justice and mega flare are easily 2 of the best feats. Blind justice can single handed clear groups with a single charged magic inbetween to cause everything to go off and mega flare can easily be charged to rank 4 with 2-3 perfect dodges or just standing still which charges faster. The damage it outputs is stupid. I can’t see how these are the worst. Although all the feats are really good if used correctly so comparatively it’s kind of hard to even formulate this list

    Megaflare is easily my favorite with Zantetsuken. If you know the enemies attack patterns, you can get Level 4 in seconds. It's also pretty damn helpful when you try to get the Medals of Valor, because, as i said, knowing attack patterns is the key to level 4 and also beating a boss without taking damage. Being able to passivly deal over 20k damage non-staggered is really good and getting even more when staggered is incredible

    I really like wings of light. I just wish there was less of a delay (or none) between turning it on and being able dodge. But, when you use it right before a boss's combo attack, it feels really satisfying to get 3-4 precision dodges off quickly. Plus I've found that you can dodge right and left through any persistent damage effect and fully charge it immediately. You also don't _have_ to go for 4 stacks every time. If an enemy hits a rest phase after their attack, you can just unleash whatever you've got charged up and go on the offensive.
    I didn't use the titanic block too much. It does feel really satisfying, and in certain situations I think it's preferable over a dodge if you don't want to change your position for whatever reason, but there are so many other ways to avoid damage that it didn't feel like a necessity for me.
    I like phoenix shift, but I ended up taking it off once I unlocked Shiva. I ended up really missing it. I just didn't know what I wanted to take off to bring it back.
    COLD SNAP FUCKING RULES. I agree with everything you said about it. I found that especially in the [SPOILERS] and [SPOILERS] fights near the end, I would freeze them in the first attack of their combo, and then always get hit by their second attack. But freezing a boss on their really big attacks and then just laying into them feels amazing.
    I feel like I over valued embrace. The half will break pull is really good, but I don't particularly care for the small enemy pull or the big enemy jump. Might actually dump it to bring back phoenix shift for NG+.
    Only used arm of darkness in the trial by darkness so far, so take into account that my opinion is built off a very small sample. I hate it. I guess what I really dislike is that Odin's entire kit revolves around the one thing (i mean it makes sense for him but still), and nothing else does significant damage or build LB. That also makes most of his eikonic abilities (besides the animation cancel) useless on any other eikon.

    Titans block is great if you're going for an Ifrit limit break build. The perfect blocks build up the limit break guage faster than any one particular skill in the game. If you don't care for that, everyone should at least mess with the titan fury punch skill. Unlike the perfect block of the titan shield, when the start up animation of the fury punch lands for the perfect block, it does stop the enemy attack completely letting you obliterate the enemy. At the very least everyone should be putting the points into master that skill so that way you can assign it to any eikon for a defensive counter utility move.

    @cosmosofinfinity Год назад +1

    The loss of control/momentum/DPS from Ramuh's Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep shotlock, Titan's block, and Bahamut's Megaflare are big no-nos for me and probably most gamers, since I heard somewhere that losing control is one of the most frustrating things to gamers. And probably why fighting games turn so many people away, because if you're losing that feeling is constant, especially if it allows super long combos where you might as well put the controller down and wait till they're done ragdolling you.
    Anyway, I think we all expected Ramuh's and Bahamut's to be low ranked since they are so situational. I could see Bahamut's being improved by holding down circle during downtime when you are not otherwise doing anything, sort of like the opposite of Odin's. Just longterm charging a magic blast ready to go off like channeling a cast, rather than just waiting around for it to fill up on its own and being totally locked out of all your other moves save for dodging and Satellite I guess.
    Who would've thought Bahamut's ability kit would be so weird in this game? Bahamut is usually the ultimate and fan favorite summon. Bahamut's and Odin's both only really shine when you dedicate a bunch of gimmick abilities around them, sorta like how Yu-gi-oh decks are built now. The other abilities are more modular and their value speaks for themselves without having to build around them specifically
    I think, also, the game could have added a whole lot of depth if Garuda's ability wasn't the only one that could exploit that partial stagger proc window. It's a shame that that visual/audio alert is only applicable to one of the eikons. Imagine if Ramuh could get all 9 shotlocks off at once with a tap of the button during that mid-stagger?

    megaflare is situationally useful depending on the battle, too. against one-on-one battles with a small opponent, somebody like Benedikta or Hugo, its a bit of a waste because itll send down a lot of projectiles that hit the ground and do nothing. try it again on something jumbo sized like Garuda or Svarog, every drop coming down is hitting this thing somewhere, on the head, the wings, or just somewhere.
    its also good against bosses who force you to stand back and dodge for a moment, to build it up and let it rip when they come back.

    For me since I like to never get touch and counter made hard, I go with
    1. Odin: Odin OP, easy 1. Lvl 5 Zantetsuken stays on at all times. You can save and hold on to it unlike another in this list. So far in NG+ it's a small enemy guarantee wipe and a "Sonic in water countdown" for any enemy with a stagger gauge that is not a boss. Boss fights goes dumb too. The ability to call on it TWICE in a stagger gauge window is ridiculous. I am pretty sure I have a number of trophy photos caught by PS5 with me finishing a boss lol and almost every single boss that can be taken down by it in NG+ the ending screen is a lvl 5 Zantetsuken finish.
    2. Shiva: Shiva dodge gives a STUPID amount of I-frames. You can Shiva dodge INTO the enemy attack not proc anything, get moved by the enemy and still take no damage, plus if the attack frames are long enough you can normal dodge immediately from it. It's stupid safe. Plus I believe that when you hit permafrost on some attacks it renders their attack frame null so no damage comes to you if they keep going? Frostbite doesn't do though. Permafrost proves the nice situation that I would like Garuda to do and allow me do setups for at least two combo strings with a Eikon ability popping in wherever.
    3. Titan: That block makes me feel powerful. The fact you can chain them is crazy and just like Shiva you can dodge out of them immediately and call on the eikonic feat again. So double safe if you know what to do. Plus it's great way to do chunk will damage and build up Limit Break meter with the up to 3 counter punches given to you. So safe, will damage, and limit break gain, just for blocking instead of dodging. Too good in my opinion
    4. Garuda: I know the uses of Deadly Embrace are nice, able to prop yourself in the air on a heavy enemy, pull small enemies to you, and on half staggered enemies is the mechanic it ALONE can do, but I find usually the only other thing I do in the half staggered pull down animation is call on Torgal to do damage. The normal pull down is really quick and not enough time for setups I find and the big pull down, used on Garuda in your video, then just has me pressing Torgal like 3~6 times and not much gain since they still get back up fast. I feel like should have allowed for longer setups since it's the only Eikonic ability that has it's only special thing on the will gauge and it's entire thing to bring down the enemy.
    5. Phoenix: Awesome teleport. Nice bread and butter with normal or extended special combos with/without Torgal. I find that either when you phase if the enemy hits the phase or maybe the line from you to the target you get knocked out of it which kinda sucks makes sense. I leave it to someone smarter than to figure out that exactly works. Can throw this in any rotation of Eikons and be straight.
    6. Bahamut: I wanna like this but I can't, too much setup, to reliant on it being the only thing out, can't hold it's charge, made for nice damage spread or central damage target if you use a ultimate ability that hits only one enemy on screen. It's cool? But not worth a slot unless you can't master Bahamut ulti which is literally just pure damage candy.
    7. Ramuh: Shotlock is back from the KH series and it's just "meh". Odin's does a better job of crowd control (what better crowd control is there than everything just dying). It also suffers from too much setup and not enough safety for it and very little damage depending on what procs the orbs placed on enemies.

The rotation I use is build up Odin feat to 2.5 bars, half stagger them, mega flare into impulse, diamond dust to full stagger, judgement bolt, dancing steel, then finish them with Odin level 5.

    I wasn't super into Dancing Steel's long charge time but anytime I get a Cold Snap I basically get a free Dancing Steel.
    If im dealing with mobs it's Shift in, Mesmerize, Dark Cloud, and then Zantetsuken. Stupidly strong and flexible

    My honest issue with Titanic Block and Raging Fists (which I do really like, btw) is that... most enemies at the point in the game where I'm at aren't actually aggressive enough outside of bosses. Really... Something like Blind Justice (which is also my least favorite ability) is good for all the trash leading up to a boss, but the issue is... you need to be good at predicting where the boss is finally gonna show.... If there was a map available in dungeon areas, it'd be a lot easier... REALLY wish they didn't lock the map button in dungeons.
    Also.. another note on Titan abilities... they suck on boss charges... They prevent the damage but, I've had an issue with missing the follow ups as the boss ran way to out of range, and Clive just attacks the air the opposite direction of where the boss moved.

    I would personally rank them like this:
    1. Odin. Zantetsuken deals an absurd amount of damage.
    2. Bahamut. Megaflare is great for crowd control, and charges pretty fast if you dodge, and it lingers, so you get it off once then swap to another one to deal even more damage.
    3. Shiva. The permafrost dodge is super good.
    4. Phoenix. Shift is just solid, and doesnt really have any downsides.
    5. Titan. The block builds your Limit Break super fast.
    6. Garuda. Good for combo extending, but doesnt really do much else, in my experience.
    7. Ramuh. It's garbage.

As far as utility goes I think shiva Garuda and Titan are all 3 pretty broke in this fact. Personally would put pheonix shift as the worse, since your Cross+Square charge attack pretty much replaces it outside of aerial gap closing, which doesn't feel like a common enough requirement (since most aerial fighting is with small enemies that pose little problem). Plus, the animation for Pheonix Shift is long enough that I often got locked into getting hit by the enemy I shift at since you can't dodge cancel the shift. Mind you, I only played through the base game so maybe that changes in final fantasy mode. Maybe my lack of caring about air combos really hurt my interest for this and garuda's move. (though the partial stagger pull really help's to keep garuda's nice)
    I also found a great use for Blind Justice during mini-stuns (I didn't know there was bonus damage during them though), where you can't actually get their stun bar down, so you can instead prep blind justice with 9 stacks during the mini-stun, since it does an okay amount of stun damage. A lot of the times I'd prep it, hit when with a decent smash after, and the bonus stun from blind justice would push them close to stagger at that point alone, all on an ability that shares it's slot with moves that don't add any will damage.

Even if you only get a level 2 it's still an OK dot to start reducing the stagger gauge again. I'll PROBABLY replace it with cold snap once I have enough AP to master gigaflare, but it's a far better option for my stagger-setup focus playstyle than shifting or blocking.

    I think Blind Justice is a lot better when paired with Lightning rod, because Rod is also targetable with Blind Justice stacks, which means even in single target fights you have access to faster lock ons and damage from the sparks triggeres rod, etc. It all plays well with eachother.
    I still agree it's probably the worst though, just thought I'd mention that rod does make it a lot more playable.
    I also disagree with the evaluation of Bahamut being a patient, keepaway game. I found that you actually get a lot from it if you act aggressive with it. Jump into Bahamut charge during skill downtime and move yourself *into*, not away from, enemy attacks for precision dodge. If you don't farm precision dodges then yeah, Bahamut falls behind a bit. The dodges remove the time commitment, I think we're supposed to go for them.
    Just don't allow yourself to sit in it too long, burning uptime, and don't be afraid to shoot just level 1 or 2 megaflares. I managed to get a LOT of use out of it when I know a big attack is coming I'll just slip into stance, get a quick dodge or two and shoot it for a lot of crowd control and damage. I think if you sit in it, charging and using satellite, that's just wasting uptime.
