    This is hands down one the best instructional clips on youtube. Prof. Pedro Sauer is showcasing what Master Rickson Gracie calls- "Invisible Power" or "Invisible Jiu-Jitsu."

    I had the privilege to experience this last week with Master Sauer. I mentioned this clip and asked him to perform this because I simply didn't understand it. It's nearly incomprehensible the amount of weight and leverage he can generate in this move. It is very, very difficult to move your leg. He has perfect timing, perfect body mechanics and it glued me to the floor. When I finally did manage to plant my leg by muscling as hard as I could I went flying about five feet from a sweep because I had over committed to lifting my leg so much. I still don't get "it" at least it might take me 10-20 years to replicate this kind of finesse and leverage but I'm gonna try! I keep playing with it at class, so hopefully I'll get better st it. :p

      Try this. He’s basically elongating his spine from the tailbone. Think of the small of your back as a bow. If you pull on the tailbone down and in, you will notice your back bow engages and the small of your back rounds out. Have someone get in your guard and replicate this exercise Sauer did. Pull the tailbone down and in, back bow, and make your bow (the small of your back) touch the floor. If you’re good enough you let gravity do the work. That should make you really really heavy.
      The reason his body gets off the floor is because his legs are on top of the guy’s thighs. For you to elongate and align your spine in that position, you have to lift up your body a bit.
      Also this isn’t you “work” towards. It’s a simple switch. Once you get the switch you can get do this. The work is to now move and retrain the body while keeping the principle that allows you to do this Invisible Jiu-Jitsu stuff.

      Wha!? I thought Keenan said these basics don’t work anymore and we’ve surpassed these basics in bjj? Haha.
      Basics at a masterful level makes the basics 10x more efficient and effective.

    I have a question, does Prof. Pedro Sauer teach the exact same concept as Rickson Gracie's hidden jiu jitsu?

    • @TheLockon00
      @TheLockon00 6 лет назад +3

      As far as I understand, yes. I saw a video where Firas Zahabi talked about it. Basically that side of the Gracie family (Rickson and a couple others) kept their BJJ simpler but really mastered the minutiae of the techniques and positions. As a consequence you get this "invisible BJJ" phenomenon. Just the basics done with insane attention to little details. This is how a guy like Roger Gracie wins world championships with basic guard passes and positions.
