I solemnly swear that I'm more excited for Snarling Badger's reveal than AOS 😂
Same 😊
You forget the one redeeming quality of that "lore exposition" animation. Awesome Ogre lady.
Okay, you're right, she was awesome. Only truth detected.
Paul must eat a lot of fibre if he’s your most regular guest
As a 34 year old father I’ll definitely be checking out Paul’s new show.
Generally excited about 4th, losing my main 10,000 point army aside.
The terrain article is good, and shows that TOs like me, Rob and others can make a difference to the community. Let’s keep using that to influence the modular system is positive ways.
Regarding the terrain itself, I have the believe there are deeper rules than this. “Behind” is WAY too loosey-goosey. We need to see the LOS rules for interactions with partially “obscured” models and true LOS vs fly models, and the full rules set for the new version of garrisoning. Overall, positive but TBC.
Next, I think they made a decision to focus on Spearhead as the on-ramp system, and that has resulted in a somewhat neglected core rules pack with only the 3 missions. It’s a shame.
Finally, no note of multiplayer systems yet. We live in hope. We’ll probably need to write that multiplayer pack/module anyway!
Good episode as usual. Its nice to have a "new" face. My favourite part of each weeks episode is Hobby Time, its always fun hearing about different peoples hobby journey.... especially when creative, rather then spending money
Glad you enjoy it!
There’re bang on. I was still 35 on Wednesday with 2 kids! 😁🤘 haha
I'm excited for much clearer unit roles, instead of just throwing units through AoS statshammer to see which unit is best with this current points update.
Unstable might be cool (?) trait for any kind of walls and fences. You stand few inches behind wall to be safe from big monster models, that will not fit in between you and wall .. they wont be able to balance on edge of the wall to attack you ^__^
I can't wait to use Banish Manifestation against Kronespine from the place of power. :P
When is the Bretonnia show? More Old World, please!
I hope there is something about bases of terrain in the core rules. In the past our club has treated bases of terrain as part of the terrain so you had a chance to get models and units wholly on terrain for cover bonuses because we basically played every terrain piece as impassable, much like Rob in the tsn arena. But with the new cover rules and all the other things it would be a very different game if in some places/events the bases are treated as part of the terrain and in others it’s not.
Aww man I miss Mitch lol, I hope he's doing good.
I bumped into him at ACO two years ago when he was playing Marvel Crisis Protocol. He seemed to be doing well.
What is that twitter you are talking about, I can't find it in my playstore...
FW Brood Horror aside, Plague Lord Nurglitch from the Lustria campaign might also qualify as a mounted Skaven character. He's riding a cute little rat :)
You know this already, but I align with your concerns at the end of the show. In my opinion, Warhammer now focuses completely on competitive play almost to the exclusion of all else. There might be a general desire for balance, but most games are not played in a tournament setting. If they're examining any data it pertains to a minority of games played by a minority of players. If I'm lucky I'll play 2-6 games a quarter and the rate of change is simply too frequent for someone like myself. Quarterly battlescrolls and their accompanying micro adjustments have made me completely disinterested in buying any codex or battletome. I was happy with the first few articles on 4th, but my enthusiasm has been dropping every week with every subsequent article.
Good call, I forgot about the plague rat on the tiny rat!
Paul can't even participate on a video call without hobbying.
My primary fear is the lack of development time. Three years, part of which the team had to deal with COVID, is just too short a time to develop a game like this.
My biggest hope is that either on release or shortly after, the Core game gets a Battle Tactics module similar to Spearhead.
Who eclipsed me!?
Great show 👍
Not sure if it’s just me but so many adverts this time!! A RUclips thing perhaps? Regardless, great stuff hobby heroes 😊👌
I fixed it, RUclips has taken to inserting extra ads, despite my best attempts to quash them, they sometimes pop up.
There definitely is a general focus on the competitive player. It's only natural since most youtubers and content creators are in the competitive scene. However we mustn't forget that the vast majority of AOS players will never go to a tournament
Battle tactics delenda est.
New Rat Ogres in launch box?
These don’t look like the terrain rules I had hoped for, but at least they’re terrain rules! So that’s something. Technically. I guess.
I actually think it’s because they just don’t care about terrain from the perspective of representing terrain features on an actual battlefield at all. The recreating a battle, role playing or reenactment approach if you will. You can do that and still try to keep the rules relatively simple, but approach it from that perspective.
I get impression that they would rather not have to have terrain rules at all in the game, because they only view them as points on a game board that could give bonuses or penalties to your game pieces. They just feel that it’s an expectation of the genre that they can’t quite shake. Their approach seems entirely abstracted and based on a gaming mindset (which is an important mindset but isn’t necessarily the only concern). There’s no terrain in chess, or in card games. They can still be fun games. They’re certainly better suited to matched play tournaments.
I like terrain. And I like it for its own sake. I like the idea of fighting battles over natural terrain and have it make a difference in ways that flow directly from what type of terrain it represents. Rivers, swamps, dense woods, rain soaked fields that turn to mud by turn 3, or whatever. Not primarily because such terrain features would introduce an exciting +1 to a stat line if my unit is standing on it at the right moment, but because those are things that could happen and be impactful in a battle in these fantasy worlds.
That is to say I prefer the terrain rules to be written with a mind to what sort of bonus or penalty would best represent how a terrain feature would impact the battle, rather than what’s a cool bonus or penalty and which terrain feature can we stick it to.
It’s all hypothetical to me anyways. I really just paint stuff. And build terrain for the armies to stand on. That sort of world building and exploring was really what drew me into warhammer in the first place, back in the mid 90’s. That’s frankly my approach even to video games. They’re cool sight seeing adventures where you occasionally solve a puzzle or shoot something.
be cool Yolanda! Hit like!
Do you consider owning dogs a hobby or do you categorise that differently?
A lifestyle.
I'm worried the combination of Battle Tactics and Priority will basically kill the double-turn, which is such a critical part of AoS as a game.
Personally, I love Endless Spells, so I have no concerns there (and hope to see a wider array of them on the table).
I'm starting a new army for this edition and have a teenage son with a small force, so Spearhead is very appealing, and the rules have only made it moreso.
Overall, I'm very excited, and my worries are few compared to what I'm looking forward to!
>will basically kill the double-turn,
Goddess please please please do this GW.

As pro wrestler Big E once said about pro wrestling: It is big meaty men slapping meat.
Where’s Tom?
Floating around in his tin can far above the world.
Warhammer used to be my hobby… I love painting and the fantasy setting in which my imagination can go wild, however, I can’t find motivation to paint anymore… after painting 5 armies and playing the game a lot… I think I have enough experience to say that the rules are extremely over complicated for no other reason than it benefits an outdated business model
The game is just not fun for me… I find real complexity lies on simplicity… warhammer has none of that… I wish they learn from MTG… I can stop playing that game for years and many new cards and mechanics can be printed, but guess what ? I still can play Magic because the rules of the game are good and also have not change much in years….
The latter is true for new games like MCP which are way more fair and entertaining than warhammer but lack the lore/IP component that GW has the privilege of making billions of… we need to come up with a EDH type of rule set for Warhammer AoS and 40k.. GW will never do it on their own because is not profitable or in line with their current book scamming business model and 3 year edition moneymaking machine…
Maybe Spearhead and 4e will turn that around for you, it is seemingly a MUCH simpler and fast experience.
Well I will give it a try.. I need a good reason to assemble and paint my Gitz but so far 0 motivation
