I ride my Mille without that foam,if purpose of that foam is to reduce engine noise.....I am ok without it.Think that engine heat is no problem for fairings.
Thanks for the advice there. This was more about replacing the original foam (which I had assumed to be heat proof as it touches the engine). Haven’t personally noticed an issue with heat on this bike from a rider perspective, although having the pipe at the side as opposed to under the seat probably helps that 🤔

I assumed it was to stop the panels vibrating against the engine etc. Never tried it without the foam but I’m sure it’s fine either way 👍🏼
If you want heat protection for your fairings, use heat resistant foil / shield instead (gold or silver).
