Correct.! Wasn't Hooton Airfield a few Miles to East of Station, Rofton Works?

Hi, just to say that Hooton Station had 7 platforms, and the old waiting room was on platform 7. Platform 1 was a Bay for the Branch Line to Helsby.

You mentioned Birkenhead Woodside. That was a station I went to lots until they closed the line.

There was a Royal Ordnance Factory at Hooton, called Roften. That’s what the pillbox might have been protecting.

You went completely the wrong way to get to the bike lane.
You go over the bridge towards Willaston and just as you go over the crest of the hill and drop back down the entrance is on the left and does a little switchback down to the old track side.

One has to ask why we decimated the railway system in Britain other than to provide land for housing and road transport. Labour, the party of the worker supposedly, had their mitts in all of this.

Excellent. Used to Run around Oil Tank Trains on Rusty Tracks at Hooton. Think Express Trains were Paddington? Thank You 👍
The Old Military Pilbox Structure protected Line into "ROFTON (Ammunition Ordinance Works)"..👍
