- Join me on a 12 mile-ish hike along the Wirral Way from West Kirby to Hooton. A route that follows a historic railway line (Closed circa 1956 but built in the 1800's). It also follows the wonderful Wirral coastline and on a day like today, which was delighfully sunny, there aren't much better places to be for me.
I do like hill walking, don't get me wrong. But the temperatures today were just enough encouragement to keep me local. It's long, straight and mostly flat. Great for a man of my years who constantly thinks he's younger than he is :-0)

Thank you so much for sharing your experience. What a lovely area and thinking with the flat pathways ideal for people who use wheelchairs too. What a beautiful part of the country to live in. Looks incredibly peaceful and an environment that promotes and assists health and well being with gentle exercise. We get to see all this thanks to people like you recording your journey. ♥
Great video, thank you.
Impressive and gorgeous walk 👍
Well done that was very interesting . The ice cream looked nice to and well deserved . I did the same walk 40 yrs ago with my dad before i moved to northumberland . i still love the wirral and have great memories thank for bringing them back to me 👍
Hi Stephen. Thanks very much. It's one of my favourite walks. I hope to get up to Northumberland in the future. Looks like great walks and lovely villages.
@@marchingwithmike2234 lots of nice walks up here mike . The coastline is beautiful and quiet and inland we have some nice walks like the hadrian wall path I have done the hadrian 3 times twice cycling and once walking .
Very nice.
Well done, lots of travelling and walking. Good job.👏👏
Beautiful rewards for your hard work.👍
I was just in West Kirkby the other day and noticed their end of the Wirral Way and wondered what it was. Didn't know that it went all the way past Hadlow Road & Hooton though 😮 (which I've been to).
I really like walking down former railway lines. Thurstaston's former station site and the café look very interesting places, think I'll definitely check those out next time I'm there, the full route is probably too much for me though 😂 thanks so much for the video! it was very helpful 😁
Hi Mark. Glad you liked it. There are 2 cafes at Thurstaston. One for mostly hot drinks in the visitor centre. Or a more traditional cafe on the road at the head of the car park. Enjoy 👍
@@marchingwithmike2234 Oh didn't know that?! thanks for that & best wishes 😁
I've done similar linear walks using two cars. A bit of a faff but effective...
Yeah. Lovely to walk, just logistically awkward. I've done the two car thing as well. As you say.. A bit of a faff 😁
The Boat house is my go to drinking place, I live just up the road. I love the place were I live, it's beautiful.
@@TheStellalegs72 sure is a lovely place. Ice cream isn't bad either 😁
Foot paths from Hadlow to Hooton which are maintained by Cheshire west are an absolute disgrace compared to wirral maintained ones
They certainly can be a challenge
Thankfully the Hadlow Rd Willaston to Hooton section is going to be landscaped and improved. Should be much better, real soon.
