Thanks Keran, excuse my spelling if its wrong. I lived in Runcorn, Widnes and Liverpool until 1981. Your Bimbles have made an old man in Melbourne very happy.
Great video. Read recently that Ann Cleeves author of Vera and spouse lived as keepers of Hilbre Island for several years. Paradise for bird watchers. Greetings from Toronto.
Fantastic vlog Kieran, love the content especially all the historical references, My interest in the Wirral has really taken off since my daughter is now living on the peninsula, I have visited a few times and found it to be fantastic area. Keep up the good work, more Wirral videos would be great...
really enjoyed your bimble , just a snippet of info for you. at the very end you arrived at rock ferry the old jetty which was correct. next to this was the newer rock ferry jetty (not pier) which was the steam ferry terminal in the early 1900`s then it after its closure for ferry use it was abandoned till the late 50`s and acquired by Cammell lairds ship yard and rebuilt and opened in 1960 as the tanker cleaning berth which as a boy of 5 yrs I attended as my father James Lea was part of the opening ceremony with the lord mare and delegates. he worked there from day one to when it closed for good in the late 70`s (1978) it fell into decay and shortly before your visit a crain stood at the end where it now sags I drove this at aged 10. the pub there is well over a hundred years old and next to this the boat yard for the old slips is still active. you passed also the rock point building as it was in the 1890 all being renovated since 1979. lots of history in these . there was so many places you may have missed ,Eastham is where the Manchester ship canal starts and the pub is so close to the ships here. passing through the woods is a old roman bear pit and a cafe nice. its sad you ended the trip back along new Chester road and passing Cammell lairds and its history the queensway tunnel and Hamilton square to Woodside ferry . you can see some of the old ship yards on a bike run along the river side next time go to the river where the u boat is and check out the sea wall paths the old docks and the first monks ferry is still seen here and my history working in all of them from 1971 - 77( apprenticeship and journey man engineer ). have a nice ride out james
now that was a bimble, Kieran. I'm slowly catching up to old content. Love the channel and your enthusiasm and every place you visit. Also the music is a BIG part of the videos. Didnt know you lived near me. I'm from the other side of Leigh. Peace and regards -Kenny
Hi Kieran, really enjoying your numerous Bimbles, Nice to see the areas and get the story and history of them, is it your dulcet tones on the bimbling music. Keep the bimbles coming!
Fantastic....bimble Kieran.....good god you put some miles in ...We did part of the wirral way from hooten to neston ...Anyway good to continue surfin your back catalogue......Regards ..Frank & Lee ...Lanky Walks....
19:08... The grassy field behind you has many bodies of sailors buried there as there was apparently a massive storm back then. But there was no way of identifying the remains in those days so they buried the bodies there that washed up. You should visit the lighthouse on an open day
As someone that deals with agoraphobia and hasn’t been out properly in over a decade it’s brilliant finding these types of channels, especially those exploring so close to home. Definitely got a new subscriber here, will love to watch the rest and see newer ones in future!
cant imagine what you must face daily a decade stuck in just twists my melon,im trying to imagine what that must be like cant you even sit in the garden feed the birds ??its so important getting some sunshine on our skin, its beautiful these videos help a little, remember its NEVER to late to make a new start, everyday brings with it 10,000 opportunities, thinking of you sister sending you unconditional love and contentment from the Wirral UK,, xxx Bobble & Mr Tao,xxx one life,,one love, one more chance to shine,,x
@@bobmiller7502 No I’m working on getting better and one step is getting into the back garden. It’s why my skin is so pale, my skin was more of an olive colour when I was younger, same as my parents. I take vitamin D supplements though because without them it’s nonexistent lol I’m from the Wirral also, nice to speak to someone who’s local. Thank you very much for the lovely comment. x
Great content as per usual pal. Only half way through so lots to look forward to. Regarding the OMD phone box. I always had the number in my phone (sad) and one day I called an older brother, who got me into the band, from the phone box. Needless to say, as soon as he seen the incoming number he answered it laughing and singing.haha
Hi Kieran, just watched your tour of the Wirral (we live here), enjoyed your tour, the 'Wirral Way' is 12.5miles long from West Kirby to Hooton and a great route. How did you get your bike up from Hamilton Square platform as you appeared to be without it, the personal lift from the platform is tiny and I can't fit my bike in there so have to carry it up the stairs to the main lift. Your amazing getting all the way around the Wirral, amazing, well done.
Being local, to me The Wirral Way is actually an old railway line that runs Hooton to West Kirby. Think you are cycling the Wirral Coastal path. Good video anyway.
The Prom, from Seacombe Ferry to West Kirby, with cycle path, is great and we walked it fairly often but the "Wirral Way" used to start in Wallasey Village off "Mosslands Drive" and led to where you joined it after passing through the countryside along the old train line/bridal path which partially followed the river Birket. When did that change?
i think thursaston on the wirral way is worth a bimble on its own . i now live in the black forest but lived in liverpool and wirral until 2010 so most of your bimbles i know quite well si you bring me many happy merories i can now watch on youtube. maybe i could do a wolfach tour or better just watch yours
At 3:55 now there is a mural to lilly savage aka Paul O'Grady on the building. You should bimble back and have a look. Also they are gonna smash everything on the front down in the next few years so it will never look the same anymore
@25min 20sec.........You missed a trick here. I'm sure that was where Malcolm lived with his Mother in the 80's sitcom "Watching" His Mother was Patsy Byrne (Nursey in Black Adder) and she held meetings in her front room for "Friends of Leasowe Lighthouse" In one of the episodes you see them entering one of those houses on the left, which is actually Meols, and not Hoylake. Good video, do a lot of Bimblism meself, around the Wirral, but on my Motorcycle.
Yes, the recommended route is from West Kirby, round Little Eye and Middle Hilbre. As you found, it is walkable from Red Rocks slipway, but there is quicksand, and the channels can fill up very quickly and catch you out. Great bimnle though, round The Oblong of Dreams! 👍
I cycle the Wirral way about 3 times a week being local The lighthouse you saw just before you went over to Hilbre Island is not a true lighthouse l saw it being built it’s always been a private house it was built only about 20 years ago
I'm getting more and more addicted to this music .
Yes it's great isn't it, Incase you didn't know it's actually Kieran himself 👍
Thanks Keran, excuse my spelling if its wrong. I lived in Runcorn, Widnes and Liverpool until 1981. Your Bimbles have made an old man in Melbourne very happy.
Its Kieran but even members of my family cant spell it so not to worry. I'm glad you enjoy them :)
*Kieran - sld have checked your insta...
It's a shame new Brighton never kept it's tower. My gran had a black and white photo of the tower
Knew gerry Marsden he lived in Willaston 80% of his life ..ferry across the Mersey was the place I love was about the wirral
Council didn’t put up murals in New Brighton. It was the influence of a local businessman.
Great video. Read recently that Ann Cleeves author of Vera and spouse lived as keepers of Hilbre Island for several years. Paradise for bird watchers. Greetings from Toronto.
Top bimbling. Really enjoyable.Thanks.

Before Morissons car park, there used to be a lovely small grass pitch and put golf ciruit.

Sadly I hate to admit... I had a piss in that phone box in the late 90s

Past the old heswall camp?
Long forgotten memories
Left in 86 ne'er to return.
Yep this isnt the Wirral way but it is a good watch.
Top Bimbling....Great video and excellent showcase for the Wirral
Grew up in Higher Tranmere - love going back to the Wirral - really enjoyed your vid and great sense of humour!!

Don’t know if you’ve already done it but Crosby to Southport is a good one thro the woods
I've done it. Covered liverpool to crosby and crosby to formby on here. Not been through the woods on video. It's coming this summer.
At 3:55 now there is a mural to lilly savage aka Paul O'Grady on the building. You should bimble back and have a look. Also they are gonna smash everything on the front down in the next few years so it will never look the same anymore
You missed Bidston lighthouse inland up Bidston hill.
i think your fittness level is far higher today keep up the good work
Welcome to the Wirral
Thank you. I subscribe to you :)
Charming.

The Bimble Bible needs an update Pal, ha ha.
I think you might be right. I subscribed to you a while back, i love your video going around the great orme. :)
da mooosick is grooovey
good video
How come nothing was mentioned about the Harlow road train station?
Hadlow?
40:24 look left and you see might see rafa benitez house
Quite dangerous to walk from Hoylake to Hilbre, should only be done from West Kirby
You didn't read the warning signs don't walk to Hildre island from this point it is dangerous with mud flats you should go from west kirby
Danger Bimble.

Great info :)
There used to be a Martello Tower at the South End of the West Kirby Boating Lake. Is it still there?
i worked on that lighthouse in my summer holidays all built with beach sand 20 bricks thick at the bottom
Very nice but not the Wirral Way.
Indeed. Wirral Coastal Path.
You need to get off the pavements 😡
Most of those 'pavement' were dual use shared paths. As for the rest. Perfectly courteous cycling and no issue with pedestrians at all.
