    The Joburg Open makes its return to the European Tour schedule for the first time since 2018. The tournament boasts an impressive list of former winners that includes 2011 Masters Tournament Champion Charl Schwartzel and fellow South African winners such as George Coetzee, Darren Fichardt, Branden Grace, Haydn Porteous, and Richard Sterne. Played on the Firethorn Course at Randpark Golf Club, the Joburg Open marks the first international men’s golf tournament on South African fairways for nine months, and is co-sanctioned by the European Tour and Sunshine Tour. Throughout the 12 previous editions of the Joburg Open, eight champions have hailed from South Africa in an impressive trend for the home stars.
    Welcome to the Official RUclips channel of the European Tour. Every week you can find extended tournament highlights and individual player highlights from the likes of Rory McIlroy, Justin Rose and Tommy Fleetwood in events on the Race to Dubai. This is also the home of the 14 Club Challenge, Little Interviews, Fastest Hole and many more challenges, pranks and world record attempts featuring the biggest golfers in the world.

    two things
    1.he is about as crisp and clean a striker as I have ever witnessed.
    2. I think this is his home course.

      It's my home club and he is not a member. He actually plays at Bloemfontein Golf Club and I've just looked at his past dozen rounds or so and he averages about a 65. He is prodigious.

    Most insane length of the tee with such a controlled swing ... he gets them wedges and putts in order and I would not be surprised to see him in the top 10 in a few years.

    Can somebody explain the unusual right hand position at the top of the follow through? Don’t think I’ve seen this before. Could it be a contributing factor in his prodigious length?

    • @kosniaka9071
      @kosniaka9071 4 года назад +2

      I would assume it's a way to keep the club face relatively square, longer hitters like Wilco tend to start closing the face to hit a power draw, but those can turn into ugly hooks. His distance is absolutely ridiculous so I'm guessing he holds the club open to prevent it and plays the pretty little fade he has. But, I could be entirely wrong!

      @@kosniaka9071 you’re right. You can also tell from the way he finishes his swing, the positioning of the hands

    This is my home course - to see Wilco dominate Firethorn is mind boggling. It was criminal that Jochim Hansen stole it on the 18th and I truy blame Branden Stone with his incessant clacking that took Wilco out of form on the final day.

    • @mrm700

      Wha was Brandons behavior exactly? Sad to hear that. I agree that a playing partner can most certainly influence one's mindset and play.
