  • One minute camp setup is a joy after an afternoon of exploring Arizona State Park’s petroglyphs, ancient people’s ruins, and Mormon graves.
    Just minutes outside of Winslow, Arizona is the Homolovi Arizona State Park. It contains the ruins of the ancient Hopi peoples during the migratory periods between 1200 - 1300 AD. Over 4,000 acres of protected Park at an elevation of 4,900 feet, you can discover history, petroglyphs, and a wide variety of wildlife. The night sky will delight star gazers.

    What you are driving across is called a “cattle” guard. It helps to contain animals/livestock but allows you to drive through without having to open and close (assuming visitors remember to close) gates. New to your channel and love traveling with you. We have a 31’ class C but I am intrigued with the B vans. Perfect for a solo traveler! Thanks for sharing with us.

    Great video. My first night Crackerdocking somebody with an Airstream Interstate pulls in at midnight and then proceeds to run a generator all night and into the morning. To no one's surprise the vanity plate on the airstream was a contraction of "spoiled rotten." Now that I've gotten my van legs I can sleep like a baby right next to an 18-wheeler. Still looks like that was a nice campsite.
    Not having to setup camp is just part of the tremendous flexibility class bs offer and volta is icing on the cake. My routine is to park, setup curtain, and turn on inverter. Takes about the same amount of time.

    Great video... really shows the serendipity of travel in an RV! You really do see and do more with RV travel. BTW... I think I'd stay with the RV instead of a Kiva! And it looks like your Volta system saved the day again! I'm sure you had to sacrifice so much to be able to afford this system, as they do cost, but that sacrifice pays for itself in the long run. We did the same with our Embassy Class B. We decided early on, if we were going to do this, we were going all in. We could have bought a Class C for much less than our Class B, and it would have even afforded more interior space, but the long term sacrifices would be just too great. It's all about how you use your money, not how much you actually have. We've had to build up our savings all over again, but the opportunities we have been afforded, the blessings of travel and meeting new people who become fast friends.......... priceless. Be seeing you!

    Loved the video! Did you stop to see petrified forest national park ? We were Just there. Park most resembles the Badlands. I loved the Old hotel and the painted Desert. We stayed at a Hipcamp out in the desert right next to the park, which was very nice. Our host and his three kids brought us a huge amount of wood and built a gigantic fire for us… Gratis ! State park you were at was interesting place… Isn’t it nice to travel on your own so you can take the time with whatever interest you? Hey, you didn’t need lithium after all ? With my Jackery, I’m not missing it with shoulder season travel because I’m out driving my van every day and never run out of power. I think you should head out in a van without lithium and see how you do. Anyway, I love your channel and I think you’re an exceptional host for your program.

    The volcanic structure is the remains of a volcano. The last lava cools in the throat of the volcano making a solid plug of basalt. This wears very slowly, and over time, the slopes wear away. There is lots of wind erosion in that area. Devil's Monument is the best example in the US.

    That was the attraction to a Nova B van for myself and wife ; the one minute set up. After using both a t.t. and fifth wheel we got tired of the setup and breakdown hassles. The B van allows us a fairly quick in and out along with easier driving and 17 m,p,g. gas mileage. Many times we only hook up to power if offered. The newer Onan fuel injected generators along with the Truma air conditioners ( some a/c s are very loud) make for a fairly quite camping presence . Interesting to know no electricity means no generators !

    this was a fun vid to watch and got some arm chair sight seen in to.... nice. Scott, a question.... have any of the RV makers ever thought of putting in a bidet over their toilets? unless i'm cluess it it seems like a no brainer. the only down side i reckon would be filling up the waste tank a bit quicker. but man that would make keeping "clean" so much easier . a full on shower would be needed less often.
    i actually have a hand held squeeze bottle that i use instead of paper and it so much nicer. learned this after having surgery.
    anyhoo,.... i would love to see one on these things. we are still trying to figure out what van rv to choose as our needs are dif. we have an adult special needs son w/special diet so are looking to exchange my normal van into one of these instead.
    thanks for any thoughts. on the above.

That is about to change in the week or so because we will be traveling across country to see my family (from Nevada to PA). My question for is is how do you keep your camp spot when you travel from it to do your day activities? Since you are traveling with a van and don’t need a separate vehicle, we are wondering, will our spot be taken if we move for the daily trips or do you put out a placard or something? Thanks!

    there is nothing wrong with running a generator.... during normal (non-quiet) hours. I know you love your volta but not everyone has or can afford that technology. You are gatekeeping and excluding people who aren't as wealthy as you are.

    • @gosmall.livelarge
      @gosmall.livelarge  Год назад +10

      Hi Rashnak66. Thx for your comment. However, I disagree with you in the scenario I talked about. If one is the non-electric site to save a buck only to run your generator for electricity annoying all the RV neighbors that chose those sites specifically for peace and quiet in nature, that generator owner needs to be called out. And I have State Park Ranger instruct the camper to turn off their generator off. As to being wealthy, I am not. As to making to deliberate choice about spending the $$ to get the freedom and quiet that my Volta system provides, I sacrificed elsewhere to pay for that decision. Rather than gate keep in and excluding as you state, I try to help RV buyers think through why and how they want to travel to get their most enjoyment so they make the right decision. My rant is over, but your comment required more than a Thanks.

      @@gosmall.livelarge Scott- THIS park may have generator noise restrictions (not listed on web site, btw!) but 99% don't. I was in a state park running my generator at 10am when this lady comes up to me and starts insisting I leave the park. I tell her to go read the sign which said generators allowed 8am-8pm. She runs to the park ranger and tried to get me kicked out. That didn't happen but it certainly soured everyone's mood. I'd love to not need the generator and I paid ten thousand dollars extra for Thor's lithium system but it never worked and Thor couldn't fix it before the warranty ran out so I'm stuck needing the generator. YOU may not have been that karen who tried to get me kicked out but your comment sure sounded like it. My point is- have a little symphathy for others and realize that people make noise, parks mean people and some noise is to be expected in a park whether that means screaming kids or a generator.
