YAY!! I was rooting for Unknown Pleasures and I had to have a full bottle the moment I smelled it! It's such a standout. I do not own the others but I have a sample of Bake. I really like Bake but I do prefer Unknown Pleasures. I have layered it with the JR Watkins Lemon Cream body products and it is out of this world!
Out of the four I've tried two -- Lira and Unknown Pleasures. First tried was UP and I was smitten. Then I tried Lira. Omgggg 😍 beautiful. Next to Lira the lemon oil in UP felt screechy. The lavender and cinnamon of Lira I prefer over the tea in UP, making L my personal number one. The longevity of both is insane! Even tho I reach for Lira most I will always love Unknown Pleasures. Another beast mode bergamot/lemony, vanilla, tea frag is Ani. What makes Ani unique is the ginger facet -- it has an aromatic/spicy element with the dessert sweetness. x
I have Devotion and Lira and never want to be without either! I think Lira is more sophisticated and wear it when I hope it will be noticed, and I wear Devotion any time at all, even (maybe especially). alone.
Me too! I love them BOTH! I layer them together, along with a vanilla musk body butter that I make & VS Bare Vanilla cashmere. It's been my "edible" vanilla citrus bedtime scent.😂
@gloriakadar3288 I'm an oversprayer & I layer my fragrances with complimentary body care. However, I will say that I become "nose blind" to most fragrances after 2-3 hours, then someone will say, "You smell good!" And I know that just b/c I can't smell it, doesn't mean my fragrance isn't still doing its thing.😊
I own lira and bake, I’ve never smelled unknown pleasures but I’d like to. I just can’t do devotion though. I smelled it and sprayed it all over me in an Ulta and i just didn’t enjoy it at all
I really like the opening of Bake, but the dry-down, on my skin, has a synthetic note that reminds me of La Danza Delle Libellule. Maybe those who love La Danza Delle Libellule, would also like Bake. 🤔 I need to re-test Lira, which I remember liking a lot. For me, Unknown Pleasures is the standout! It reminds me of key lime pie. I found that it wasn’t too heavy during the summer. Thanks for this fabulous comparison video!🍋🍈
I'm partial to Love & Crime. It smells like Lira but performs MUCH better! Lira is good but it fades fast. Also really enjoy Devotion and it lasts well too.
I didn't smell bake, but between the other three, my ranking would be 1. Lira 2. Unknown pleasures 3. Devotion Devotion is not as well blended in my opinion. Unknown pleasures is very different from lira, you could easily own both. Lira is smoother with vanilla while unknown pleasures is harsher yet still well blended, more focused on lemon peel/oil. Even if unknown pleasures is more original, I have a lot more wear out of lira
I haven't tried Bake yet. My favorite is Unknown Pleasures and that's why I got a bottle:) To me it smells like I am in a bakery where they just took out of the oven a load of lemon meringue pies..the lemon and burnt sugar mixes in the air with some coffee brewing in the background. There is some tea, just enough to not make this too sweet.
Smelt all except Bake & I really love the lemony dessert Frags & they are all similar to my Beloved "A Sweet Pastry in Paris" by Zara 🥰 I'm so glad I picked up that bottle all those years ago 😏💕
I'm so mad that I didn't pick up the sweet pastry in Paris...Have you smelled Lemon tart by Theodore's Kalatonis? it's pretty darn delicious but not as long lasting.
I think Unknown Pleasures smells like a dense liege maple waffle with lemon curd and a piping hot cup of early grey tea nearby. The absolute best lemon fragrance I’ve ever tried is Iced Lemon Poundcake from Bath and Body Works- now that smells like you rubbed the iced lemon loaf from Starbucks all over yourself 😅
Just watched this and I think I'd flip the order mysel. I love Bake, Devotion is good but more daily to me than bake. The Cinnamon in Lira didnt work for me and all I can smell in UP is a maple. Zero lemon and it makes me nauseaous.
UP - Earl grey opening, sweet lemon heart, and a coconutty vanilla base. Devotion - Girly perfume, designer vanilla, nothing special. Bake - Lemon zest forward, like an actual lemon peel. Dries into boozy vanilla. Lira - Super vibrant and Italian smelling citrus pound cake
Devotion is my Christmas gift. I have decant of akro and I don't know, there is note maybe the praline that I don't like. Its not a love. Devotion is the sweeter version.
I haven't tried any of these. I'm always so hesitant over lemon fragrances because I don't want to smell like lemon cleaning products. I probably just need to sample the Akro and the Kerosene fragrances.
Great video! Umm.. Guilty of owning all of the above. 🙈. I love that tea note in Kerosene's Unknown Pleasures. To my nose, Devotion is more citrusy than lemony. Niche quality, but at a designer price. Akro Bake, I LOVE! Ultra realistic lemon muffin. Delicious. And the same perfumer as Devotion! Lira is the fragrance that started me down my lemony path.. I love it, but doesn't last too long on me. Spicier, too. Unknown Pleasures is my favorite out of the bunch. Its that tea note that makes it special.. and unique.
Very helpful video! Have you tried Hufflepuff by House of Sillage? It's another sweet lemon dessert type fragrance. So many to choose from, but I've only smelled Lira and Devotion among them all.
I watched this with my little decant of Akro Bake floating in the air. What do you think of layering Akro Bake with Burberry Goddess to add a bit more depth of vanilla? 🤔
Longevity of Lira is super good, but sillage and projection is very bad for me. So looking for a fragrance that's so similar to Lira but has a good performance, do you suggest Love and Crime? or any other one that's not discontinuted? thank you for the comments and reply!
Thank you for such a fantastic video! This is my first of yours so this may be news to you, but I highly recommend House of Sillage's Hufflepuff if you like this scent profile 🍋🥥🍰 I wish the performance was better, but it's definitely a contender amongst these (all of which I have samples arriving this week, yay!)
I blind bought Devotion as I was convinced I would love it due to the notes. I am also obsessed with Soft by Al-Rehab so thought it would be delicious in the same way that is. However, I just don’t like it on me. It smells like bread with a hint of lemon to me. I mean a baguette, not anything sugary and baked. Gutted as I was so excited about it.
Thank you for doing this video!!! ❤ Can't wait to sample Unknown Pleasures. I've got the other three. Devotion, Bake, Lira would be my order preference.
Excellent comparison - so interesting. I haven’t tried any of these yet but would like to. You look so pretty - love your sweater! May I ask where you got it? Keep up the good work - your channel rocks! You’re so fun and knowledgeable! 👍🏻😁
Devotion is so gross. But bake is my favorite out of them all. I was shocked it wasn’t the favorite. Just shows our noses are all different because bake definitely beats them all by a mile to me.
Hey...Just wanted to say- this was a great video! I love that most of your videos are just fun and playful BUT, comparison videos are some of my favorite and I feel most informative types of videos... Because, you can feature several fragrances that have similarities - that you explain the similarities and differences - at varying price points...So, there's something for everyone and like you said it also curbs redundancy...So, keep the comparison videos coming because this one was GREAT! ❤
I love Lira and put it in my top 10 even though I rarely get to wear it. I would have loved to smell the others but my husband doesn’t like lemon desserts to eat or smell, so I have already decluttered Frank Boclet Vanille and probably soon, L by Lolita Lempicka which lasts forever but is discontinued. I enjoy hearing about you smelling amazing though. Great battle video.
I love Unknown Pleasures. To my nose, it is very sweet and the longevity and projection is enormous. My only issue is the last time I wore it, someone walked in the room and said it smelled like burnt pastry. I haven't been able to get that comment out of my head every time I reach for it and haven't worn it since 😔
Oh that sucks...it makes a person self conscious!! I remember wearing a perfume and someone kept saying what is that smell...I couldn't tell if it was a good thing or bad thing but I felt so self conscious!! 🤣. Unknown pleasures smells AMAZING!!!!
I haven’t tried any of these, but you inspired me to get some samples of Unknown Pleasures and Lira (and I also picked up a few others - Blanche Bette, Bianco Latte, Ambrosia Imperiale, and Oudgasm Vanilla Oud). I’m looking forward to trying them out! Thanks
You're killing me! I have learned that this scent profile is IT for me. The tart lemon with the warming, sweet vanilla notes...perfection. I have been saving for Lira but now you have me wanting Unknown Pleasures even more. Tough to find a decant in Canada...?
Great comparison video! Recently sampled all but Bake, and I agree with your top pick. So good, long lasting and the most natural smelling. However, I bought the travel size of Devotion during the Sephora sale, as that one is such an easy reach, while I save for the Unknown Pleasures! Lira is lovely, but I feel it's the most synthetic of the 3 I tried.
I wonder if it's the lavender in Lira that makes it feel more synthetic. I honestly would love all 4 but for now, I have Lira....my next purchase would for sure by Unknown pleasures and then Devotion! They are all so delicious there really isn't a right or wrong!
Muy fan de Bake, Lemon tart y Devotion... Los amo demasiado!! Estoy esperando mi muestra de unknown pleasures, a ver qué tal es... Y Lira no me gusta 😮
I am hearing great things about Kerosene in general, and I am just about to order their discovery set! And yeah, lemon oil is the difference between lemonade and great lemonade. 🍋💛🍋
Yes, I almost included it but I didn't have a lot of experience with it...I've only tried it once. Lemon Tarte is delicious and I love the bright lemon with a slight pastry edge but the lasting power doesn't measure up to any of these...it's definitely an affordable option and it's very delicious.
Unknown Pleasures did something to me as well. I couldn't stop smelling this one! It has such a unique vibe and a unique lemon oil with vanilla blend that stands out. On me, it stays pretty linear, but I'm fine with that cause it is outstanding.
I just love citrusy vanilla fragrances! I own in my collecfion Lira, Bake, Devotion and Lemon tart (Theodoros kalotinis) as frags from this same scent profile. Bake is my favourite of them, followed by Lira, Devotion and finally Lemon tart. This last one is the most realistic and goumand of them four, but has the worst performance. Can't wait to add Unknown pleasures to my perfume collection. Great video Maria! Cheers from Brazil ❤️
I tried Bake today for the first time & was in LOVE for 30 mins. A burst of lemony vanilla sweetness. Unfortunately the drydown on me is almost completely different and I don't know why. I love all the notes listed. Idk if it's aldehides or powdery with just a hint of vanilla & no lemon. I'm so sad.😢😢😢
Hi, are any of these similar to Douceur Brulee? I have that one and I don’t want something too similar. Also are these appropriate for winter. Oh, is Lira anything like Hufflepuff? Thanks! I LOVE YOU!!!
No, they are way more lemon forward than douceur brûlée...DB is more caramel with a whisper of lemon, these are lemon forward with a hint of the caramel....or 1:1 lemon & caramel.
Akro Bake is my #1 favorite scent overall. I don't own devotion (yet) but it is my favorite (I wasn't a fan the first time i smelled it but the 2nd on it was just a real delight)
I’m really interested in that Unknown Pleasures! Unrelated-I stumbled on a great combo and I know you have these Maria. 5th Ave Royale and La Rive Fleur de Femme. It is really lovely. (At least on me ) 🙂
I’ve only tried the Lira dupe Italian Cello but it’s amazing and I sampled Devotion on my last trip to Macy’s but I also got my nose on the new J’adore L’or on that trip so Devotion quickly lost out because I felt my Lora dupe already fills that space in my collection. I’m sure the original is better but I did splurge in Italica. I think Devotion is good for someone who wants that lemon sweetness but feels smothered in Lira. It’s not as Cakey.
The only one I don’t own and have not tried is Akro Bake. I think Unknown Pleasures is my favourite of the three I own, followed closely by Lira. Great video and it was wonderful watching you on the live with Mitra!
Excellent comparison of all these beautiful lemon forward scents. Hardly do I bake anymore, but was a HUGE home dessert and baker for most of my 20s and 30s. Making lemon curd was one of my favourite things for filling tarts or for making into a mousse-like dessert. Mmmm. As someone who’s worked with a ton of sugar and pastry, I am shocked I don’t own too many gourmands. Unknown Pleasures sounds soooo yummy!
Unknown pleasures has a bit more of a thicker vibe…a bit more decadent. If you had lira, it’s closer to lira. Bake is a bit more clear and bright. Bakes longevity isn’t as good as UP they are different enough that they aren’t redundant in a collection. My personal preference is, though both are amazing is to go with UP first. It’s a bit more sexy and I’m just in love with it! I would say that Bake is a safer blind buy though because it’s a bit simpler and straightforward. Hope that helps!! Let me know what you decide on!
Hey Maria, thank you for the informative video. I recently got access to Brocéliande, in Fragrantica it is comparable to Unknown Pleasures, and Lira, as you love this fragrance, would you say so? Is it similar? I also tried Devotion recently, and for some reason my nose detects a makeup-y iris, that makes me sick. It is not listed anywhere as a note, by I am very sensitive to it, and the moment the thought got into my head, it became an instant scrubber.
It would be more similar in my opinion to Lira except that it smells more "lime" than "lemon". Broceliande is SO FREAKING GOOD but ya, I associate it with lime...that said, it's got a really similar vibe and is in the same family...cousins!!
I’m desperate to find a true peach cobbler, baked cinnamon peaches, buttery flaky pastry, brown sugar butter crumble. Can anyone give me a rec for a perfume like that? Think Oajan or Khaltat night, angel share BUT peach not apple!
Well, Peche au Yuzu may work for you but it may be not enough pastry for you...I will keep my ears open for a peach cobbler and if I hear of one, I will mention it in a "what I wore" segment!
Yay!!! I’m happy to hear that. My community is amazing so I think they will be a delight to your and they will enrich one another. Positivity is hard to come by so thank you for your platform!! 💕💕💕
I’ve tried both devotion and lira and neither has the pastry aspect I’m looking for. I’m not sure unknown pleasures with the tea note will be it either. Would you put theodoro kalotinis lemon tart in this category also? I’m thinking that might be the one for me.
Yes, lemon tart by TK has that feel for sure. I almost included it but have only worn it once so I didn’t feel I could speak with clarity on it. It is nice and lemony but a bit of pastry thrown in. I don’t find it lasts though.
Great breakdown of one of my favorite scent profiles! I started with Lira and now I love getting them all! But Lira really stands the test of time
Try soft by al rehab, it’s dirt cheap and has the same caramel, lemon, vanilla vibe. Doesn’t last all day but it’s worth reapplying

I love Ani, also! Seems to be polarising, though. Lattafa has a good dupe of Ani (Nasheet), but I might treat myself to the original for Christmas..
I didn't think anything could beat Lira but UP sounds like a must-try. I have hears such mixed opinions on Ani, but very curious.
I have Devotion and Lira and never want to be without either! I think Lira is more sophisticated and wear it when I hope it will be noticed, and I wear Devotion any time at all, even (maybe especially). alone.

Yes, love your thoughts re: devotion and Lira..excellent point!
The only one I don’t own and have not tried is Akro Bake. I think Unknown Pleasures is my favourite of the three I own, followed closely by Lira. Great video and it was wonderful watching you on the live with Mitra!
Thanks so much, it was fun doing the live!
I love Lira but it's the only one I've tried
Right on time bc I am ready to pull the trigger on Unknown Pleasures. Was hoping for some kind of sale or discount around this time of year first 😩
Yes, I am always wanting the deals!!!!
I love Lemon curd!!! Yes, Unknown pleasures is excellent!
This is such a very well done and informative video. I’m here still trying between Unknown Pleasures and Bake. Help! 🍋🍋🍋
@@mariacollettlife I appreciate you so much, Maria. Thank you for the detailed breakdown . UP it is. 🍋🍋🍋
@@MyFragranceTrail I hope you love it!!
@@mariacollettlife Thank you so very much, this was very helpful. I think I might get it..💸
The comparison we all needed! Thank you! & If you HAD to pick just one to keep... Which one would it be!?
Unknown Pleasures. I find the lemon in it very addictive and it’s just plain luscious!!
@@mariacollettlife I love that! Honestly by your descriptions I was leaning towards Unknown Pleasures the most.. Sounds so lovely!
I’m desperate to find a true peach cobbler, baked cinnamon peaches, buttery flaky pastry, brown sugar butter crumble. Can anyone give me a rec for a perfume like that? Think Oajan or Khaltat night, angel share BUT peach not apple!
Have you tried Gossip Night by Gritti? Might not be as "baked good" as you're describing, but it might be up your alley.
@@chelseyschlutereichen9009 yea thank you I own it and it’s beautiful but I am looking for a peach with a cinnamon butter pastry note. Yummmm 🍑🥧
Well, Peche au Yuzu may work for you but it may be not enough pastry for you...I will keep my ears open for a peach cobbler and if I hear of one, I will mention it in a "what I wore" segment!
Omggggggg!!! This is Mitra!!! Thank you so much💕💕💕💕💕💕I wondered where all member requests coming from. I am so happy that you liked it 😘😘😘😘
Yay!!! I’m happy to hear that. My community is amazing so I think they will be a delight to your and they will enrich one another. Positivity is hard to come by so thank you for your platform!! 💕💕💕
@@mariacollettlife thank you sweetheart 😘😘😘😘💕💖
Great video! I need to get my hands on Unknown Pleasures.
It's so good!
Agree with Maria. You defo get the pastry vibe along with a zingy lemon but just doesn't last 😢 I sold mine.
@@chanellesimon2501 oh well. At least it’s less pricey. I will keep looking. Thanks for letting me know your experience.
Mitra, omg you are famous now 😮
Mitra is awesome!!!
I have devotion and a dupe of Lira by oakcha and another lemon cookie fragrance by theodoros kalotinis called lemon tart which is awesome.
Yes, lemon tart is awesome!
My fav review… your description is so accurate .. I love love 💕
thank you!
