The difference in person is massive. I would recommend going to a dealer and listening to PSE in person, especially after the cold start warms up. Very big difference - not so noticeable in video.
After it warms up the sound decreases even more but we might differ in terms of the model specification. Both PSE models I drove were less noisy after warm up than the base exhaust here in the EU.
@@pholux Yeah the volume decreases but once the car is at a warm idle the throatiness of the PSE is way more noticeable than without. And you can hear the turbos whistling a lot more clearly with PSE. But I'm in US so it may sound a little different since we don't have the restrictive particle filters y'all got over there, so you're probably right on that one!
@@malfunctionedbrain6854 yeah... I'm lucky enough to have an NA 992 and I LOVE the sound of the PSE, but these videos of the EU specs with OPF is a little sad
@@elmfur I did a few tests now while driving and I think it sounds very good if you rev it high enough. Going 150km/h to 220km/h full throttle it screams and appears to sound very good, at least from the inside. But you can't do this on public roads in the rest of the world I think ;)
I get showing a cold start, but you have to wait for the cars to come down to idle THEN show the sound differences. Also, part of what really makes PSE sound better is being paired with the Sports Chrono package so the engine mapping is tuned to sound sportier.
Would be interesting to hear an in-car comparison, I think the differences are more noticeable showing that you can comply with exterior noise regulations but increase interior driving experience.
first off here in the EU we have an OPF in addition to the muted exhaust. And the OPF steals a lot of the sound that the 992 could theoretically have. And if anyone believes that the sport exhaust or PSE makes a real difference… you are wrong, well at least here in the EU, as due to regulations even if you have sport exhaust activated the valves are only open at idle and directly close once you start rolling and only open again at higher rpms. A non sport exhaust or PSE 992 sounds more muted while idling because you simply can’t press a switch and open it while idling, but as soon as you reach higher rpms the exhaust will open like the sport exhaust or PSE equipped 992. So it actually is pretty much useless. For 500 euros or dollars you can get a valve controller that lets you open the valves throughout all rpms. Changing the downpipe here in the EU also makes a huge difference. And if you wanna go even further getting a different muffler and also a different manifold is the way to go. So as a summary, even with sport exhaust the valves aren’t actually open, so buying a different full exhaust system and a valve control is the only way to make the car actually louder.
911 is the benchmark of sports car industry, I am a big fan of 992, likely to get one in next few years, but not a fan of that sound, I currently own the lc500, have to say, LC500 sounds way better
Full fake. Like all video. 992 should be put in sport mode thats when its the loudest. There are even pops when you have sport exhaust. My daily is a 992 gts and Im sick how everybody try to put shame on the car. Till its not warmed up you have 0 sound too... So show warm engine + sport mode
Probably one the the best comparison videos i've watched!
Thanks for the vid man. Like you said. The difference is quite subtle.
love the car. sport exhaust slightly deeper but aint worth the 3K price
Hardly any difference
disappointing imo...porsche's just aren't that loud or throaty..

I think the US vehicles (without the EU particulate filter) sound much more rowdy.
mine has changed tone as I put a few more miles on
Sorry but they are identical. I guess the only difference is when the sport button is pressed?

991.2's PSE sounds way better than 992's, unless you have a NA spec car with no OPF 992 PSE sounds awful.

Can OPF be removed ? What is the year it was introduced in ?
Also the soft rev limiter, which year did it debute ?

What are the afternarket alternatives to get the best sound ? Let's make a list here.
I'm talking exhausts and engine remaps. 👇

I’m so glad I ordered a soul exhaust and sport cats for my incoming carrera T . PSE just doesn’t cut it
Yeah I would not get PSE, I would just an after market exhaust
Link ?
There is a difference.
You have to wait until the valves are opening up.
Btw, wait a moment till the oil pressure drops down.
Am I weird? I like standard one better.
Both sound shocking
it's same
What color is your car? looks great!
Looks like Night Blue Metallic
Yes, it's Night Blue Metallic. Not available as a regular option anymore.
@@elmfur thank you!
@@pholux Thank you. I was wondering why I couldnt find the color in the configurator. Amazing color!
It sounds so underwhelming for what the badge represents
It's not made for start up or revs while standing. When you're able to drive it like it was meant to be driven it sounds very nice.

The OPF makes them all sound bad. The U.S. spec base Carrera without the sports exhaust and without the OPF sounds great
The quieter the better.... I left my loud exhaust days behind on an old Mini.
Really looks like the same car??...even the passenger seat is in the same position. Genuine question - is it a fake vid?
Too quiet!
Suenan igual mena.

Y a darle caña..
There is a difference but you’ll hear mostly by running the engine over 4000rpm, but driving not sitting in the garage!!!😂😂😂
Sounds like a Tesla battery
$5.000 diference
My vacuum cleaner sounds sportier than these.

Sounds absolutely terrible. The turbo just ruins the sound. 😢
These cars look fantastic but damn the engine/exhaust sounds bad. Ill stick to my older N/A 911.
Ths sound is absolutely the worst part of 992, OPF has ruined it completely
Anaemic in both specs

992 sounds so rubbish compared to 991.2
US market sounds better. This is Euro model with PFs choking the sound.
yeah, the U.S. spec base Carrera without the sports exhaust and without the OPF sounds great
