Their idea was good, but probably they are using some cheap chipset to run android which is why we can see the lag in there while loading apps
These are branded under many different names but essentially all the same thing.
I just bought mine, exact same specs, have you managed to test out the DVR? It says 1080p on the settings but on VLC media stats it shows up at 720p with shitty 5mbps nitrate.
Trying to dig around in the system files to see if these can be rectified. My previous non full android carplay system had double the bitrate with 1440p encoding (still crap, but way better than this current model)
To add on, we have the exact same unit. It's a SIM card slot below, I thought it was a SD card slot as well but on the home screen you can see the signal bars on the top right corner. Slapped a SIM card into it and got 4G signal immediately.
Managed to update both MCU and Android updates as well
@@fabianlee4694 good info. I’ll revisit this unit and give the SIM card another go…
@@fabianlee4694 got the sim working, thanks for that info. Checked video and did get 1920 by 1080 with 1 kbps bit rate, 25 fps. Contrast to my AR video- more than 8000 kbps, also 25 fps. Still testing…
@@nextgenerationrider thanks for this. any chance you are able to show the settings used in the dvr?
There is a SIM card slot underneath. It takes micro-SIM cards.
I have put a SIM card into mine and it did a bunch of OTA updates.
I was able to install a bunch of stuff and run the native navigation off the SIM card.
Wanted to use it while travelling and there are no roaming settings available, so my SIM worked locally but not after when I crossed the border.
fellow SG rider, how is your dvr experience on this? can read my other comment, it's really bad, like some 3gp video
@@fabianlee4694 I haven't copied out the videos yet. Will try and update here.
@@fabianlee4694 I didn't copy out the video but it is definitely 1080p at least 25fps. Viewing video on the device itself is very clear. The file extension of the videos are .ts
@@kooshking I think it's cos of the small screen. Can confirm the video looks great on device but when extracted through es file explorer, it's like 200mb for a 5min video. Very compressed
@@fabianlee4694 I finally managed to download the TS file. The video is compressed. But I didn't find it blocky. But the native resolution of the downloaded file is 720p.
How does OsmAnd Plus work on this?
I’ll install it and check it out in the next day or so and see what I find out. Stay tuned.
Thanks.
@@Stan-rf2bn I installed OsmAnd and downloaded maps. Performance was slow, with navigation routes taking several seconds to load. Would be annoying on the road. Also ran Geekbench 6 benchmark and the scores were at the bottom of scale, 144/461. Btw, manufacturer refuses to acknowledge orientation problem, says it's an app issue. Medeke / Navifly is a hard no for me now. Better full Android devices will come.
