SCOTTY!!! I NEED HELP ... I have a 2010 dodge challenger 3.5l v6 ... long story short I was driving and my timing belt decided to go and its a interference engine so a few valves hit the piston head. Tore it down sent them to be machined . Got em back installed em and now im trying to start the car the cams seemed very hard to turn when I was doing TDC timing but I struggled and managed to get them TDC ... I felt like they were way too hard to move so how could the timing belt move them but ik the motor is stronger than me .... put every thing else together went to start the car it turns very slowly ... I figured it was the battery was down so I connected jumper cables and got the same result....took the battery to autozone got it tested and charged came back still the same very slow turning... now battery is low again from trying... something doesnt seem right or do I just need to keep trieng so it builds oil pressure to lube the new heads I installed after getting it machined ?????

Now if you were going to buy a turbo car I could guarantee that Honda, a company that makes world renown engines would probably be ur best bet. Just look at what spoon does with stock civic engines. They don’t have to modify them and just off a tune they can get 25-50 hp more right away. Honda always under tunes they’re cars from the factory regardless of how much HP it’s rated for

It's all about the application. There's nothing wrong with putting turbo GDI engines in race cars because it's understood that you're sacrificing simplicity and reliability for power. The problem comes when you put all that technology into daily driver cars which exist solely to be reliable; case in point: the Honda 1.5L GDI turbo motor. If you ask me, basic commuter cars should all have N/A SOHC or OHV engines. Just my two cents.

Caleb Gordon Expensive? The average new car price in 2020 is $37,851. Sorry to say man but this isn’t an expensive car- it’s an exactly average priced car. It’s certainly an expensive Civic but it’s still a Civic. At it’s core this is a hatchback meant for getting to and from the grocery store. It just happens to be one that will allow you to attack your favorite road on the way there. Personally I don’t like the looks or the questionable reliability of this 2.0L motor but in terms of functionality and fun to drive this would be my choice over something like an A3/S3 hatch simply because I can get it in manual (assuming the 3 hatch comes back to the states).

One report of someone getting 8,000 miles from the tires. The tires lose traction when temperature is under 45 degrees Fahrenheit. The tires can crack when exposed to cold temperatures. For cold climates you need to put on all season tires and preferably spare wheels when it gets cold. The factory tires are 30 series and essentially racing tires.

We all know he's a domestic basher. He has a hard on for Honda and Toyota. It's not statistically true, its all in his head, but we watch him anyway and agree to disagree.
My wife drives a 2012 Honda Civic, she wants to get rid of it now that she has about 100,000 miles on it and it keeps having stupid repairs here and there to keep it going. She followed all manufacturer repair instructions since she bought it new, and has Honda Dealers alone service it and always has.
I have a Chevy Silverado with over 100,000 miles I bought new in 2009. I have no problems, I never used Chevy for maintenance, just my corner mechanic, I haven't even washed my truck in 5 years. I recently had to drive her to work several days while her Civic was in the shop.
And her Civic cost more than my Silverado. I have a base series V6-4.3 liter white Work Truck, for $15,900 new. She paid $17,000 for her Civic new.
Needless to say, she is now looking at GM, wanting to switch over to something more reliable.

As a Civic owner, I have a love/hate relationship with this car. I think it’s an engineering marvel. Right out of the factory it’s a blast. But that’s just it, factory, OEM, stock. This isn’t one of those cars you can modify and make your own. Like Scotty said, everything in this car has a purpose. If you change almost anything, you mess up it’s perfectly tuned formula. I own a 9th gen 2015 Civic si FB6. I love the thing because I can upgrade/tweak/tune it myself. Civic’s have always been this way, and have a strong aftermarket. For example, 90% of the Si you encounter on the road will be modified. It’s arguably the best part of owning one and truly the best way to experience owning a Civic IMO.
    TLDR:
•Buy the Civic Type R if you prefer a complete, no hassle track/street weapon.
•Buy any other Si to create your own fully customizable track/street weapon.
(P.s. Any civic with a K20/k24 engine, either stock or K-swapped with good modification has the potential to blow the doors off a Type R. These engines are essentially the “people choice” for 4-Cylinder tuning engines and have more R&D from tuners than almost any other engine of their class.)

The 2.0T Accord has the same engine detuned to about 250HP; it uses smaller turbo that spools a bit faster, and the torque develops at lower RPM, so it's more suited to normal driving but still has quite a bit of power. If you're looking for something moderately sporty but a bit more practical and comfortable for daily driving than the Type R, it's worth a look.

Bought brand new 2014 civic si red sedan 9th gen. It's 140k miles now, no issues at all, I drive a lot for work. Never had any problems, just regular oil change maintenance. Still drives like the first time i got it off the lot at 9miles on the meter. Just washed her today cuz its nice out. Forgot to say, was so happy with the reliability, bought a brand new 2018 civil si red sedan for my wife. Hers is even better gets 40mpg, and the turbo torque is much better than my 9th gen.
I was planning to buy the type r but sadly at that time they were marked at 50k, so we went with the si.

Love it that this review was done in Houston- and your inspection sticker was 4/20.
Anyways most people won’t understand this car. But I had a 1998 Civic EX. 1.6 liter n/a and put a cold air and exhaust back in 2000, and then we all wanted to get to 200whp.
So I think in today’s standard most laugh at 306whp, but for Honda owners they know how much tuning has to be done to these small displacement motors to get those results and appreciate Honda for giving it to the purist.
