It's hard to believe that it's been 80 years... it's not as long as you think but seems like a very long time ago at the same time.
I have a huge amount of respect to them all. I read the book at age 19/20 and was amazed at everything they did. They had great minds for sure.
Rest in Peace to The Great 50! And to those who suffered in that camp and others. What legends they are. I wonder if they ever believed they would be remembered 80 years on?
The band did a fantastic job and the filming was fantastic also.

My 11th grade World History teacher (1971), Mr. Denny, a American bomber gunner in WW2 was a prisoner in Stalag III. He was not in the tunnel yet, but was waiting in the barracks. Therefore he was luckily not shot.

The tunnel was way more than 11 metres long. I think the Germans measured it at 111 yards which would make it over 100 metres. An incredible feat of engineering in the face of extreme difficulties

I look at this film and feel so very proud of our forces. They fought for our freedom . Look what is happening to our country now . For what . Letting in people who should not be here and putting our U K at risk . We have lost our pride and bravery .
