Have to wonder how exhausted the saxon troops were after a brutal battle in the north and a harsh forced march south to counter this invasion. I imagine most of the house hold troops were at their limit by the time the first arrow landed.

Interesting I'd heard it was only the elite troops which made the march, picking up general troops along the way. Hence their lack of discipline in battle in chasing "retreating" enemy. I can't remember where I heard it though.

The real battle wasn't fought here. They've the wrong location all these years and now can't accept it's incorrect. See Steve Austin and his search at Crowhurst. To this day not one single artifact has ever been found in Battle to support it was the location of the any such battle taking place.
