As the old saying goes..."quality always sells"......this is a top quality band.....one of a very rare creed.......timeless quality, people are still digging it 40 odd years later👍🤟
Saw Rainbow play that song live July 20, 1976 at Théâtre St-Denis in Montreal, Canada. The whole band was amazing, but Cozy Powell was simply incredible!
I could tell by your “stink face” during the solo section that you were digging it. These guys were a incredible band and I will definitely be requesting more for you to check out.🤘🏻🔥
This song is usually considered as the second part of stargazer and many of the lyrics reference back to it. Another great track from this album is starstruck, but an all around supergroup of it's day. I have the album on vinyl and it's always fun to play it for the neighbors to listen to (whether they want to or not).
This was my favourite of Rainbow’s albums. The first & third albums are also excellent, but this one definitely goes to 11. The later albums, after Dio left, are ok, but just not as spectacular.
You are good. I'm proud of you, because i was over 20 years musicsaler. Music is my totally passion for my whole life. I'm 62 years old and i like the old stuff of the 60 70 and a little of the 80's.
Rainbow for a '70's band with Dio singing about wizards and kings totally works and also '80's Rainbow w/Joe Lynn Turner also fit perfectly for their sound and style, though both are like different bands, Ritchie was savvy enough to change it up
This is the follow up to Stargazer. A light in the black. It tells the story if the wizards fall and the aftermath of side 2. Agree about the bass guitar. Jimmy Bain got robbed on this one. Hes a top rock bassist. Cozy Powell us cooking in this one along with kill the king if you want to hear Cozy as a top 4 drummer in the world. Rip Cozy he drove into a tree at 100mph. He loved fast cars and was an up and coming formular 1 driver in EU untill Ritchie Blackmore got him out of driving. He also played with Jeff Beck and a million other bands after Rainbow.
"Yeah Blackmore said recently he wished he had re-recorded the the bass on album", A Remaster I would buy, having bought album back in 70s"", Jimmy Bain bassist, left with Ronnie to form"DIO", along with Vinnie Appice"
Well he didn't leave with Ronnie to form Dio. He was booted the hear before and Ronnie did another Rainbow album with Bob Daisley and then Dio joined Black Sabbath. So.... He didn't leave Rainbow to form Dio. There was a few years in between.
Nowadays, Rainbow connotates something else entirely Justin... But then, you probably know that. This band is a once in a lifetime occurrence. I just wish I could listen to it again for the first time...
Richie Blackmore had said in an interview that there was no Bass in Stargazer. When he was reforming Rainbow in 2016 he said he wanted to add bass to the song Not sure if there was one in this song.
This is the musical equivalent of the Godfather -VS- Godfather II conundrum. My favorite is usually whichever one I saw/heard last, but ideally you want consume them in succession.
With the exception of Do You Close Your Eyes, Rainbow Rising was the sort of album that got better with every sequential track, Very few bands have *had* this ability to transition this way.
I think do you close your eyes is just a fun little break, I don't necessarily dislike it, plus the live performances of the track as an encore were really neat
I’m with you, Justin. I might have to get this album. Also agree that the base does need to be up. Is there a remaster of this? Instrumental section was 🔥 It sounds like the drummer is doing double kick throughout that section in 1976? Good stuff!

Cozy is an absolute machine on this track......

Sets reminder to try to learn that one again !

O yes another great classic, Ritchie Blackmore phenomenal guitarist with an attitude not many got on with, but hay.

Not as hard hitting or heavy, Ritchie nailed was he was going for in '80's Rainbow, got him radio play and concerts in the U.S.

Ritchie the GOAT. King of 70s

Grandiose 🎸🎸🎸👏🎤🎤🎤👏👏👏👍
You may see them referred to as Richie Blackmore's Rainbow. His Band His Rules. Keep Reacting!
This is part 2 of Stargazer. Phenomenal song🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
😘
Let's just say Ritchie wanted to make sure you didn't miss the guitar

Beggining of Power and Speed Metal
Go Ritchie! Awesome!
Top 3 in the world in his day. Ritchie F in Blackmore
@@barryrammer7906 yep, his melodic vibes shine thru ✨ 💖 💛 😎 ❤ ♥ ✨ 💖 💛 😎 ❤ ♥

best solo of all time imo

Great song. However, I agree the bass was way too quiet.
Applies to several Rainbow tracks including Gates of Babylon and especially Lady of the Lake, quite poor mixing....
The 2011 remasters brought the bass up to a point where you can actually hear it, still a bit low but still it's actually there.
Ritchies hottest solo ever
Yeah, great band. I never did a deep dive into their music. Always liked their popular songs, though. Cool to know it didn't stop there
You're listening to a mix done 48 years ago.....give it some slack.....
Had this on Cassette in Jr High, kicks major a$$, great selection!!
DIO!
Play it from the live lp that drummer was amazing
This was one that I would see in the record store constantly way back in the day as the album cover draws you in. Never bought it though lol
Bad mistake 😅
Gotta throw down with some "man on the silver mountain
That was the first song I heard of theirs, when I was a kid. Just gold.
LOL
What? Aren't there any bands named Unicorn 🦄, or Sparkle 💖? So what you're saying is they need to Ged up the bass, and Alex down the guitars 😉
Wishbone Ash, Spooky Tooth, Budgie...that's a bird btw, they named themselves after a bird, plenty of odd band names in the '70's
(Rainbow) were nothing without (Dio) Ronnie James Dio
It was double bass back in the 70`s. Just sayin.
I had a rainbow shirt and my cousin refuses to give it to me. I was sad
Love the middle solo/musical part. Not as good as Stargazer imo but this is still a great song.
TOTALLY...
idk how you do requests but from this band and this album Tarot Woman should be next.
$25 paypal/venmo/cashapp. Put request in the notes section and ill make the video.
Dio eh ! Bloody hell !

This is a top 5 all time rock album
@@eoinjennings519 Not just rock in my opinion, top 5 of any genre :)
I will choose Bob Daisly or Rudy Sarzo to make a remaster for this album. Just an opinion.
The bass/is cover by beat double paddle/if u are musician should knew about sound system
You need to do Deep Purple Highway Star if you haven’t done
Blackmore himself doesnt like bass iced so low
Metal is NOT about Black and Darkness and rainbow and appearness have nothing to do with wrong or right.
Thats logic of a 15 years old fan.
