@@jalkabre5904 I can blame Ritchie Blackmore for a lot of things including often fumbling around and looking for the inspiration that didn't come at gigs with Deep Purple or Rainbow instead of staying focused on his playing, consistently playing the same setlist of songs and having abandoned a large part of his repertoire (as much with Purple as with Rainbow), his bad mood, etc... but anyway, he's still a great guitarist with a unique touch.

I saw Rainbow Rising tour. They played Stargazer, A Light in the Black, Still I'm Sad all in a row. Over an hour of incredible rock. You talk about Baroque arpeggios, Ritchie was playing that them in concert for years. During A Light in the Black, those arpeggios are amazing. I saw him play those. He and Carey (on the keyboards) matching each other playing those arpeggios was amazing to see. I close my eyes and relive it. Then I went backstage (Ritchie gave me backstage pass) and met all the lads in Rainbow.

A man called "The Wizzard" wants a tower of stone built, reaching the stars, high into the sky and forces these slaves to build it...When finished he climbs it to jump off the top, believing he will fly and having convinced the slaves he will fly. He falls ....splat ! So with that out of the way 🤪 Lol Well whatever you decide... thankyou for this. That was so good ! Can't believe I just turned 20 when I bought this album in '76 !!! Byee ! You should have done Stargazer first, tells the story of the Wizard, then A Light in the Black is the sequel or follow up after the demise of the Wizard. I was lucky enough to see Rainbow live at the Adelaide Festival Theatre (South Australia) back in 1976. Best concert ever!

**Speaking of Van Halen, “Light Up The Sky” , “Romeo Delight” , “Atomic Punk” are killer deep cuts. I guarantee you’ll dig those. Also, “One Foot Out The Door” which is a two minute banger! The last minute is all Eddie!!!

    That was fantastic Nick!
Thank YOU Narvik! Great request (and another fave album and track from "Budgie" too!)! So yes Nick, open-up the "Rising" CD and read-up on the history of the album and lyrical content from Blackmore & Dio (This song is a "Part II" in the story that is told on the previous track "Stargazer").
After a few requests from the Dio era of the band, you MUST checkout with Lexi, the DVD I got you; "Live in Munich 1977" (when you were figuring out why Blackmore lived in Germany when you were a baby, from the "unboxing reaction" :). From the line-up of the album "Long Live Rock 'n Roll", and SEE Dio & Blackmore and their stage-presence, especially to watch the track "Catch the Rainbow" that is DRASTICALLY different and more EPIC than the original studio version, which Lexi needs to see, but when you guys are comfy on a sofa and ready to be blown away.
    *Yngwie vs Blackmore . . .*
Well hey, I grew-up (relatively late with...) with Blackmore and Deep Purple/Rainbow, so I was already well-versed with his stage presence, personality, compositions and "style" (be it Rock, Jazz, Blues, Funk, Heavy Rock and Neo-Classical). So by the time I discovered Yngwie from his beginnings with Steeler, then Alcatrazz, then Solo, I was a HUGE fan because he was taking Blackmore's technique's (and Uli Jon Roth) to the next level. BUT . . . Blackmore not only has the chops, but "compositions", whatever era of Deep Purple & Rainbow, he had the "hooks", the sound, and memorable songs that became ICONIC, and a powerful stage presence. He had longevity, variety and other than Blackmore's personality, people still talk about what he contributed to Rock and Metal (and his medieval/baroque period).
As far as my story with 𝕽𝖆𝖎𝖓𝖇𝖔𝖜, well its easier to link my "essay" on a particular subject (and in the Deep Purple/Rainbow section of my story) of the essay found here: mavearworx.weebly.com/blog/witnessing-the-birth-of-progressive-metal-part-1-of-2
(LOTS of video, albums and track links need to be replaced, so I hope to get to it all sooner than later).
*For the Dio era of tracks that Lexi would get into:*
    Self-Portrait
    Temple of the King
Tarot Woman (one of my favorites)
    Starstruck
Lady of the Lake (my fave track)
    Gates of Babylon
Rainbow Eyes (this track will surprise you both)
. . . others here will direct you to their faves from the Dio era. And I'll chime-in on the album with Graham Bonnet and some of my fave tracks at a different time.
But Nick (and Lexi), for an appreciation of Ronnie James Dio's *Vocal* dynamics, its a MUST to watch Opera Singer/Vocal Coach *Elizabeth Zharoff* of the channel "The Charismatic Voice", who breaks down everything Dio does, and has become a HUGE fan:
    ruclips.net/video/_ioYg6Kx1UM/видео.html
(she has done a total of "7" reactions so-far!)
Soon, you will also have to breakout the 2 CD's of *Dio* with *Black Sabbath* ("Heaven and Hell", "The Mob Rules"), when he was "fired" from Rainbow, and Ozzy was fired from Sabbath . . . becoming a new era for Sabbath and a vocal ICON in Metal.
    - Thank you Narvik & Nick SOO much for finally getting to 𝕽𝖆𝖎𝖓𝖇𝖔𝖜! MUCH more Jaw Dropping to come \m/.

I saw Heart, at the Orpheum years back when they toured playing “Dog and Butterfly” from start to finish.

IMHO, this and Long Live Rock and Roll are the best Rainbow albums. Graham Bonnet is an amazing singer too, and Down To Earth is an incredible album as well. I saw him a couple of years ago with MSG and he still sounded awesome.
Blackmore has been my favorite guitar player ever since I got into music. His solos are classy and he plays with feeling (of course there are a few exceptions to this). Malmsteen can play fast but I don't personally think his solos are always classy, they seem to be more for flash and to impress with the speed at which they are played. He can also play some beautiful and perfect pieces, don't get me wrong, but if you study Blackmore's solos and techniques and really listen to what he's created, he's a genius.

Yngwie and Ritchie are in categories of their own mastering. Two different styles and love them both equally, and same with Eddy Van Halen and Randy Rhodes...and I can name many more that are in their own category. These are just the tip of the iceberg.

Hey Nick, glad to see you discovered Rainbow. I was there at the beginning and I prefer the 2nd incarnation of Rainbow with Ritchie, Cozy and RJD. The incarnation that put out this album. As a fan of Deep Purple since my teens. I was waiting for Ritchie to light it up. He did so on the previous album but Rising is on another level. I really appreciate your reactions to the songs that shaped my life. Catch The Rainbow is a great slow song featuring Dio. Also speck out Mistreated Live!

Hi Nick, there is an incredible version of Mistreated live in Munich in 1977 by Rainbow. It has the most amazing vocal performance by Dio but also THE most intense guitar tone from Ritchie Blackmore. He may not be fast as the shredders but he has so much feel. It would make a great reaction.

@@NicknLex, my aunt and uncle had an extra ticket because my uncle's friend couldn't make it last minute. By chance, I was having brunch with them and my family when they were talking about it. I guess my aunt could see how interested I was because without hesitation, she turned to my uncle and said "I know someone who'd want to go." I had a wonderful time with them and had gotten super into Pink Floyd at the beginning of last year. I've never seen such a crazy light show, and man did they capture the magic of the original group! The Floyd is my uncle's favorite band and it was such a joy seeing him go nuts about Brit Floyd!
