I'm going to need to know your source for that. A quick google search shows the bible belt states as the poorest, consistently for decades now. All they do is grow produce, that Americans won't pick... so none of the money stays there, and the Republican businessmen that own these farms don't pay taxes, so the regular Americans that live there don't get educated, so generational poverty continues.
