  • IN THIS EPISODE: How to figure out how to make timing charts for your animation drawings. Just animating is one thing, but figuring out how many in-betweens need to be added to make the characters move the way they should for the scene is another thing. These charts tell the assistant animator how many drawings should be added to make the movement smooth, or not smooth. When I was an assistant animator, these charts were the guide written by the animator. Sometimes there was a chart for different parts of the body of the character, you might get a scene with three or four charts on some drawings to tell you how many drawings were needed to make the arms and legs and head move at different speeds in-between the extremes. It could be very complex or very simple depending on what was needed for the scene. This is a very basic lesson but once you now how to do it, you can apply it to your own project. Keep drawing!

Someone recently explained this to me visually and it made so much sense! I am a visual learner, which is probably why I enjoy your videos so much. I can understand what is going on. Thanks for another great video!
