Travel rewards suck right now and most of the Amex offers other than travel are for central city dwellers. Those of us who live in rural and suburban areas and still use Amex are subsidizing the takers in the city. This is nothing new as rural and suburban America is now and has been subsidizing city dwellers for decades. The vast majority of federal tax money is spent on dependent city dwellers for housing credits WIC, aid to dependent children and other welfare programs. With that in mind, it would be excellent if some financial institutions would decide to reward those who actually pay the freight for the super dependent city dwellers.
