I am joined by Shar Dundred for a cooperative playthrough of Dawn of War II. This sequel is a stark divergence from the original entry and expansions of the build & destroy variety. Instead, the players choose the units to be used prior to beginning a mission, cannot build new units once the mission begins, and has only limited reinforcement options.

Pretty sure it's because it has a stormtrooper sergeant in it now, and he feels a need to wave his sword at the enemy

Nice to see Catachans and Guardsmen being used, even if they arent the strongest units.
Also I only just realised your faces should be switched in the thumbnail. Jay's icon should be on the Lord General and Shar's should be on the Inquisitor.

If playing as orks, kaptain is relieved it was in fact an ambush, less so for eldar "panzies" hiding alot. Nailbrain even sets their "gitfinda" to "panzy" :P
What did you expect from a unit called howling banshees, ofc they'll howl, their helmets emit that to disorient the target for easier killing in melee.
It's actually very simple to discern between falcon and warp prism tank, Jayman, turret weapon(latter uses anti-tank one). Let me elaborate, there's in-universe reason and real reason. First is chassis-sharing, let's use the guard as example here - you have chimera as base, which is an apc. You want chemicals, delete transport capacity, add fuel tanks and new turret gun, boom, you got either a hellhound(flame) or banewolf(acid). Say you want a scout vehicle, delete transport capacity and top armor, add faster engines, add fixed autocannon, you got salamander. You want anti-air, delete transport, slap on quad-autocannon turret, you got hydra flak tank. Artillery, delete transport, add earthshaker cannon, you get basilisk artillery tank, etc etc. All races, except orks(ofc), follow this rule in-lore.
Second reason, is model maker laziness.
As for why melta gun stormtroopers run into melee range, melta stuff does full of its dmg at melee range.

I will say, I've done an all-catachan run, and they're surprisingly good once you get their upgrades. Since each of the three upgrades gives them a whole new model in the squad, with the extra hit points and firepower that entails. Maxed catachans really mulch infantry, while also being somewhat threatening to vehicles, which is a nice combination. They still die pretty fast, though.

Understandable, in-lore is stated they use flak-jackets(tabletop armor save is 6) rather than standard issue flak armor(5), as latter is rather heavy for their needs, plus it's easier to sneak around and carry more ammo food water etc. Shotguns, only one of their named characters uses it(colonel iron hand straken).
Kinda shame they don't have their melee weapons(catachan fangs they forged themselves), some of their physique and stealth from lore here in the game.

Was that a Monty Python reference? Surely, it had to be, right?

Great video Jay! Any chance you might be down to do a series playing CnC Remastered "Side Ops"? It's a very high quality unofficial expansion pack to the Remastered Tiberian Dawn and Red Alert games that you played already.
