  • Inshore kayak fishing is a great way to experience the thrill of fishing in a variety of saltwater environments, from shallow bays and flats to mangroves and oyster beds. It's a challenging and rewarding sport that can be enjoyed by people of all skill levels.
To get started with inshore kayak fishing, you'll need a few essential pieces of gear:
A kayak that's designed for fishing
    A paddle or pedal system
    Fishing rods and reels
    Lures and bait
A cooler or insulated bag to store your catch
Safety gear, such as a life jacket and whistle
Once you have your gear, you can start scouting out fishing spots. Inshore kayak fishing is best done in shallow water, so look for areas with depths of 3 feet or less. Some good places to start include:
    Bays and flats
    Mangroves
    Oyster beds
    Bridges and jetties
    Nearshore wrecks and reefs
When you find a promising spot, anchor your kayak on structure or drift the flats and start fishing. Inshore fish are often found near structure, so look for docks, pilings, and other objects that provide cover. You can also fish along the edges of channels and creeks.
For bait, you can use live shrimp, minnows, or artificial lures. Live bait is often the most effective, but artificial lures can be a good option if you're targeting specific species of fish.
Once you've hooked a fish, be sure to play it carefully. Inshore fish can be strong and acrobatic, so it's important to use the right technique to avoid losing them.
Inshore kayak fishing is a great way to get exercise, enjoy the outdoors, and catch some fish. With a little planning and preparation, you can be on your way to a successful fishing trip in no time.
Here are some additional tips for inshore kayak fishing:
Choose a kayak that's stable and has enough storage space for your gear.
Pay attention to the weather conditions and tides before you go fishing.
Be aware of your surroundings and wear a life jacket at all times.
    Practice good fish handling techniques.
Release any fish that you don't plan on keeping.
With a little practice, you'll be an inshore kayak fishing expert in no time!

Thanks Jesse! The wind helps sometimes but can be tough for a kayaker. Protected water makes it easier
