I just found your channel by accident, mainly because I have just uploaded my first RUclips video. I love your work. I learn a lot from your commentary too!
Great video Kaitlyn and great photography. Shame for the video camera which seams to be on the lower end with poor quality. Other than that fantastic photos. hopefully I will be there this year. I JUST CAN NOT WAIT. xx
Hey Andrei - I use a GoPro for the videos (and video uses an older model). The photography and hiking is primary, video second, so I don't want to get something too big or heavy. You'll love it there - have a great time!
@@KaitlynMcLachlanPhotography thanks for the replay. Try a Gopro hero7 Black with a selfie stick or even better with a little gimble . Its a shame to have such great photos with such a laid back camera. In this way both photography as well as the videography is top notch. Just a suggestion. Keep up with your good work.
@@andreiiasi Already have a Hero7 for future videos - stay tuned! I am also looking at other pocketable camera for better video footage - seems there are some decent compromises between a gopro and a mirrorless camera, that I think might fit just perfectly!
Already got my like at Twizzel. Twizel, pron twy (as in why) zil (as in zylch, nadda, nothing). Good humoured nudge from a kiwi living locally. Anyway, back to your vid. Thanks for the laugh 😁🤣 I think your pronounciation sounds way more fun!
Hello again, as mentioned before we are going to NZ South Island in a few days. I'm not sure how much time we will have to hike on this Hooker Valley trail but we plan to have a full day up in that area. Just wondering but did you see any animal or birds up there? Maybe some Seabirds up around that lake or perhaps predatory birds like Hawks / Owls/ Eagles up in those mountain valleys? I'm bringing my Nikor 200-500mm lens just in case I can see any birds like that.
I'm not so sure that's really an area you'll see much wildlife. Sometimes, Kea can be heard (or maybe seen!) flying overhead, but if you're looking to photograph some birds I think you'd have better luck outside of the Mt. Cook area
Kaitlyn McLachlan, we were just there (March1-16th) and visited a lot of the same locations. Already planning for our return. Did you make it up to Abel Tasman at all? It was in our plans, but the weather deteriorated so we ended up going up the East Coast as well and finished our trip in Akaroa! Keep up the good work and thank you for your quick reply!
I did (on a separate trip to NZ) - it's a beautiful place. Sadly the weather was maybe too nice and I didn't handle it well, ended up with heat exhaustion! It's always nice to leave things for the next trip! I hope to return a 3rd time to NZ sooner rather than later!
Another excellent video of your NZ travels. Well documented trip and a great set of information for anyone traveling to New Zealand not just for photographers. I am a newbie with digital photography and find your explanations helpful. Did you do any astrophotography while in NZ? Off topic but... These videos would be great for a New Zealand blog. Should you do a blog (I know who has time) while your memory is fresh with other tips about traveling in NZ. A super friendly place and no tipping unlike in NA. Did you ever get used to coffee black or white?
Thanks Keith! I am considering adding complementary and different types of content via a written blog. Still thinking some of that through, but I think there WILL be something. Just not quite sure what it will look like or how frequently it will be updated just yet... Glad you were able to find it informative! If there's anything else you're wondering about, ask away!
I believe this was back in March, but I gone in almost every season - April should still be good. Being at 800m elevation, weird weather can happen any time of the year. The main thing is to hope that it's not too cloudy or foggy, that you'll be able to see things! You'll love it there!
Love your work. Your enthusiasm and love of nature is infectious. You are obviously an awesome person. Keep going!

Thanks! Good vlogg and I like that you talk about the photos that you took. We go there from Sweden in just a month - can’t wait :)
Thanks so much for the kind words. Enjoy your trip - I'm sure you'll love NZ!
I absolutely love your commentary! It adds so much!
Thanks! I ended up cutting quite a bit from this video just to keep it short... I went on and on about this place I just loved it so much!
I should add that I also subscribed and tapped the "Like" button.
Excellent vlog! Beautiful photography and commentary!!
Thanks so much! Happy new year!

Nice vlog, I like your presentation! What month of the year were you visiting?
Thanks so much Chris! I've been throughout the year, except winter, but this was from my first visit in March

This was fantastic!!! Thanks for sharing ! Do you recommend similar easy hikes with lots of photo ops along the way in Banff National Park area?

Twizel, not Twizzle. It's said as TWY-ZIL.
Oh darn! I've butchered SO many New Zealand location names :(. Thanks for the correction!
Try pronouncing Twizel as Twy-sell and not Twissel …… which is a cheese flavoured chip ;-) really happy you love what our landscapes have to offer.
